My Dad is recently retired and came into a small settlement money just about covered the cost of a brand new pinball machine (he's wanted one his whole life). He isn't mechanically apt so we drove an hour to a pinball distributor (Pinballs.com in Milford CT) and had a blast playing with a dozen new and old machines. Based on reviews and feedback I found on this site, we got our hands on a Jurassic Park Pro (Stern).

We have been LOVING this machine and I can't visit his house enough to play. I'm fully hooked and it's been such a fun father-daughter bonding experience for us.

My question is if there are some new owner tips for maintaining this machine correctly right out of the box. We've had no issues but what does a maintenance routine look like for a new stern? What should we watch out for in terms of symptoms of issues that can pop up? If I look for Jurassic Park maintenance specifically I find a lot of references to the Data East version. Anything for New Stern's?

Thank you!

Basically what Chuck said. Also, check the balls periodically for any rust or pitting as it will destroy your playfield. Between keeping your balls in good condition and cleaning the playfield, you're in good shape maintenance-wise until something actually breaks.

New stern pinballs are reliable... I have never problems with these recent pinballs.
Of course, you have to wax, change some rubbers, balls... Nothing really hard to do.

Hello all ,we just acquired the premium edition of Stern 2019 Jurassic Park. The two balls that seem to magnetically held to the truck that spins around what is the purpose or goals there ? Do they come off with hitting certain targets ? Thanks for the explanation

Some of the posts and rubbers seems to be a PITA to get to...

Not magnetic, that's a Newton ball targetand they won't (Or shouldn't!) ever separate. You hit the ball in front that's fixed to the playfield which will move or spin the truck to face the other way. It gives the T-REX mode activation letters, as well as decides the "path" you take through the Paddock modes as you move up the map towards the visitor center:
