Let’s just go ahead and blow this out of the water now. 2 newest pins on the market. Which Pin would you rather have:

Beatles (thanks SDTM)

Oktoberfest (thanks dead flip)

#2 5 years ago

Hahahahahahahahahaha...

#3 5 years ago

Beatles all the way!

A licensed theme noone ever thought would happen vs. a beer drinking holiday that only lasts a few weeks out of the year?

No brainer for sure!

is there a neither??

#5 5 years ago

Is that Beatle shit for real?

#6 5 years ago

They want how much for the Beatles??? Hard pass!

#7 5 years ago

Pass on both

#8 5 years ago

The only question left is which version of The Beatles most of pinside will be buying.

But that is for another thread altogether.

#9 5 years ago

Octoberfest by a lot.

#10 5 years ago

Wow. So disappointing.

#11 5 years ago

after tna's succes looks like stern trying to make a single level game but looks uninspired another big juicy melons/pbr cancrusher (no fun)octoberfest by a long shot

Beatles may be an alright game but for the cost likely not no bang for buck

#12 5 years ago

Which pin would you rather have Beatles or Seawitch?

Seawitch and then a B/W with the savings

You gonna have your suprême finally...if you raise your budget!

I'm thinking both! Except will the Beatles playfield and cabinets hold up as well as Seawitches have?

Although I have previously been pretty outspoken about old rock band pinball machines,
I think this time they finally nailed it.

#17 5 years ago

Neither but if i have to choose between those two i prefer oktoberfest.

In a few years we can all grab a Beatles for 1k and retheme it to Seawitch Two.

#19 5 years ago

Octoberfest hands down. Is this a spoof video stern released?

What does that mean?

They are the king of of releasing bands that used to be famous pinball machines and now they actually land a band with some substance and rock and roll royalty, and now it's a joke?

I’m a huge Beatles fan, but wow, that pin looks LAME. REALLY LAME. Oktoberfest looks pretty cool. I’m just not a big fan of the theme.

#23 5 years ago

I’m a Stern fan but $10k++ for that Beatles is insane. Yeah there’s a lot of well off “old guys” in the hobby but you really need to be a Beatle’s fanatic or have money to burn to justify a rethemed Seawitch. Oktoberfest is’nt a theme that appeals to me but the game has a ton of features and value.

#24 5 years ago

I’m glad it’s the Beatles, with mbR on the way, I now have more time to save for the munsters.

Have they released prices yet?

Yeah who wants to pay good money for a game themed after the biggest selling and most influential rock and roll band of all time when surely a cheaper REO Speedwagon or Styx game will be out in a few short years.

#26 5 years ago

wait - is that beatles for real?

#27 5 years ago

Yuck on The Beatles. Although such a short clip, the game play was so uninspired. Oktoberfest is killing the Fab Four in the poll. Amazing!

The Rolling Stones and Elvis were pretty influential. Maybe they will be worth as much as the new Beatle”s pin now.

Domo Arigato Stern?

Just because they are the king of doing it does not make them the king of doing it right. For instance look at what they did to the elvis pin. This machine looks like a cash grab retheme.
What I meant was I hope this demo video was some cruel joke to all us that wanted a Beatles pin. I was part of that group till I saw this heap. Just because it's branded do's not make it worth my hard earned 10k.

Sure, I myself would have loved to have seen a full blown psychedelic LSD inspired Beatles game with a black lite topper and songs like "I Am The Walrus", "Helter Skelter", "She Said, She Said" and the fab four with long hair, full beards, and bloodshot eyes.

But reality is this is modern pinball that now has to be "family friendly" and drugged out references would certainly be a no no. There is no way they could have ever done justice to what this game could have been in today's homogenized pinball climate.

So what I see is an awesome layout similar to one of the great ones, and presenting this band the only way today's pinball manufacturers can or know how within the restraints of what their customers have come to expect .

I understand it needs to be family friendly, but this is crazy bad. These things will not sell well. I was pumped about the Beatles and this is what they came up with??? Big thumbs down.

Quoted from Jimmyhonda:

And that's the bottom line right there.

As Bob Dylan noted long ago. "The times they are a changin' "

Although the times have kind of changed back from what he was singing about.

#34 5 years ago

O-din, where do you see adding ramps to this one? I may get one if you come up with a good idea for a ramp.

I haven't really thought about that yet.

But if pinside insists that is the #1 major reason they don't like this game, then I will put on my thinking cap and go to work.

#36 5 years ago

Is this early april fools? The beatles pin sucks ass. OMG

#37 5 years ago

How long til the "Where's the Beatles Topper" rant?

Well pinsiders, no need waiting and spending all that cash when o-din's already got ya covered!

None please. I'll give them a play or two when I get the chance, but judging from the info available now, both look like horrible stillbirths to me..
And I say that as a German whose parents listened to a lot of Beatles.

#39 5 years ago

They both really missed the boat on this one--shoulda combined the two pins and made the theme the Pete Best era Beatles playing in bars and flop houses in Germany.

Totally off topic, but am I the only one seeing this thread in duplicate?

Thank goodness it is only in duplicate--I was seeing this in quadraphonic!

I'm curious on pricing. Hearing 7200 for Oktoberfest.

How much is Beatles, how many songs, and who coded it?

#44 5 years ago

It's not even worth debating.

Beatles hands down.

So far it only seems like fiive songs
1 All my loving
2 It won't be long
3 Ticket to Ride
4 Drive my car
5 I should have known better

#46 5 years ago

I never knew the title to 'I should have known better,' but know the song.

All in all that's still an overall better list than what Rolling Stones had, and there will probable be several more that are not labeled on the playfield.

How quickly some of you forget how IMDN had zero, I mean zero songs off either of their first two albums that featured a much better singer than the songs they did use.

Stern should've known better

#49 5 years ago

I'm curious if this could sell well? I'm really not sure and think it depends on price.

#50 5 years ago

Also curious on sales. If it was about a couple thousand more than a seawitch I would be interested. Kudos to Franchi for another cool looking pin.
