See Vid's Comet Restoration. You need to remove ALL the artwork on top. Sand the whole thing down to the wood.
Then Get some Spray Max 2 Part Clear Coat - Suit up and give it a couple coats of CC.
That shooter lane will haunt you forever if you don't fix that.
