Been to a lot of RUSH concerts. One of my buddies was huge into RUSH. He would come out to visit when they would play Red Rocks. We would put him up and he would buy an extra ticket. We were always on the front row and I always got a T shirt. Good Times!

How’s your hearing? My friend used to travel around to Rush concerts and now he’s half deaf.

U2

#110 3 months ago
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:

when I think of the best band, I think of live performances I've seen.
My taste will be different a bit.
Tightest band for me is weird, Steve Miller...just so polished...older, and seasoned.
Best show was The Stones.
Wildest The Ramones
Most memorable U2 and The Police

Steve Miller is a great guitarist. And a great harp player.

Led Zep. My friends and I went to see Jimmy Page and Robert Plant and went home amazed at John Paul Jones's 3 neck guitar play during their acoustic set and John Bonham's drumming. Page was incredible, but by the time you'd seen them a few times the guitar and bow thing got old. The solos in those days were great for going to the bathroom. They were 4 amazingly talented musicians when they were on their game. I don't remember another hard rock band in the 70s that did an acoustic set like Zep.

If you can still hear, you weren't there.

Here is Freddie, riding Darth. If you said anything other than 'Queen,' your argument is invalid.

RUSH... now give us the machine spooky!!

#119 3 months ago

Maybe a hybrid is the best answer. Guitar Gods or Metal Gods etc. Have many bands.

This is just cause I love it. And if there should ever be a Guitar Gods pin this guy better be in there.

A friend of a friend is that dude in the Vader outfit.

He also donned the Superman costume!

He was a roadie.

They sent me some cool photos on a tour of a big band storage facility...the big acdc bell was one of those pics

Wait, that isn't really Darth Vader? How fake.

He never said that.

Beatles, Rolling Stones, and then I say Black Sabbath in that order. Sorry never got into Lep Zep or Queen or Pink Floyd much besides a few songs. Of course Motörhead is one of my favorite. Still like those top overall as my vote.

Remember when Jethro tull won best heavy metal award!

That's the way history remembers it, although it was hard rock/HM

If that makes a diff'rence

#127 3 months ago

Does this qualify as a band?

Few other voices will haunt your soul like Roy’s. Mercy!!

#128 3 months ago

Dead To Me

#129 3 months ago

If my Avatar or name isn’t a dead giveaway. King Crimson for me as well as 70’s era Genesis and Yes.

#130 3 months ago

Ok maybe this qualifies as a band.

Orbison Rocks

A lot of great choices.I am surprised that REM was not mentioned.Well I guess now they have

Quoted from Slugmeister:

A lot of great choices.I am surprised that REM was not mentioned.

A few more I think deserves mention:
STYX
REO Speedwagon
Journey
lynyrd skynyrd
Rod Stewart
Boston
Jimmy Buffet
Bon Jovi
Def Leppard
The Eagles
Cheap Trick
Dave Matthews Band
Tina Turner
Fleetwood Mac
Stevie Nicks
Jefferson Airplane/Starship

Depends on my mood at the time, I have never considered one band "the best".

Right now I am into Imagine Dragons more than anything.

#134 3 months ago

Stones. Avg person can prob name more of their songs than any other big band. Maybe beatles

#135 3 months ago

Feel pretty damn lucky to have seen the Stones 3 times. Last time was July 4th 2015 at the first ever "concert only" at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They still sound freakin spectacular. I'll post a pic of my b'dass shirt later.

#136 3 months ago

Sometimes I even like some country:
Alabama
Oak Ridge Boys
Ronny Milsap
Toby Keith
Dolly Parton

(sometimes meaning way too many Natties and starting to chill out).

#137 3 months ago
Quoted from modfather:

Rush
Led Zep
Floyd
Beatles
Ozzy/Sabbath
Van Halen

Ooohhhh. That's pretty much my list except for Van Halen. I do like the DLR era of Van Halen, but I have to put AC/DC in there instead. I got to see AC/DC in November 1981 at Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland for one of the very first For Those About to Rock concerts. That was killer for me because it was one of the very first concerts I ever went to.

#138 3 months ago

Funny no one has mentioned the police, or CCR. maybe not the best, but my pick goes to the Stones..

#139 3 months ago

Not a classic band , YET.

Blue Oyster Cult. An excellent discography throughout (Some people balk at Revolution by Night and Club Ninja, but I like them) with many diverse sounds. Hard rock, heavy metal, AOR, a little prog, a little psychedelic. Great fantasy/sci-fi/horror/occult lyrics, too. BOC songs tend to evoke this really pleasant, haunting feeling for me, and Buck is an underappreciated guitarist with a really distinct and memorable style.

Sabbath (Iomi the King of Riffs)

#143 3 months ago

1). The Beatles
2). The Stones
3). Pink Floyd
4). Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5). Led Zeppelin
6). Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
7). The Eagles
8). Pearl Jam
9). Nirvana
10). REM

Best Band is completely subjective to the listener. But my top 5 would probably be (I can't order them to be honest)

- Pink Floyd
- Beatles
- Rolling Stones
- Led Zeppelin
- Eagles (just to get some other band that isn't from England in the list - my God England has soooooo many top shelf bands)

Honorable mentions: Van Halen (America), ACDC (Australia), and Rush (Canada).

#145 3 months ago

ACDC (Australia)

#147 3 months ago

My favorites...in no particular order

Guns n Roses
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
ACDC

#148 3 months ago

Rush!

#149 3 months ago

Ah...Ok, I'll fix that!

Yeah I have to say, I’ve seen the Eagles several times and those guys take their craft serious and have to be one of the tightest bands I’ve seen live and I’ve been to many different shows.
I’ve seen them with Felder and without and several with Frey and a couple without. Just a high quality live performing band with a pretty impressive library of music.

History of the Eagles is a much watch movie if you like classic rock.
