Joined the club not too long ago. I'm working on adding a shaker motor:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/my-home-made-shaker
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/baywatch-shaker-motor-need-help#post-2511647

So far I've at least confirmed that the state of Solenoid driver #15 changes from ground to open when the pop bumpers are triggered. A little frustrating that it has the opposite output of all the other Solenoid drivers, but a relay should fix that.

Fellow Baywatch fans, I have (2) shaker motor kits left from my 10 piece run. More details here:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/added-a-shaker-to-baywatch-wow

For anyone interested please PM an email address and I will send a PDF of the install instructions, and you will understand better what the kits includes.

Hey guys, doing a little tune up tonight; I thought that when you came down the right lane "lite orbit" that it opened both gates and fired the ball back to the upper right flipper, just looking for confirmation on the function of "lite orbit" Also I have been getting the ball stuck behind the center "earth quake" wireform lately, does anyone have a scan of the clear plastic that is supposed to be there to divert the ball back to the playfield?

I've been getting the ball stuck behind the center "earthquake" VUK lately. Anyone have a scan of the clear plastic that is supposed to be back there? Mine is missing.

Hello guys and gals, I have recently gotten enough parts to make 8 more Baywatch shaker motor kits. A few members have some from my first run of 10. Anyone interested please pm me.

My second (and probably final) run of Baywatch shaker motor kits are complete and ready to ship. PM me if anyone is interested.

#741 7 years ago

I can confirm Shark scoop, pop bumpers and Upper VUK from memory, I'd have to check the rest.

#750 7 years ago
Quoted from ChadH:

I've been analyzing the Baywatch code... it appears that Solenoid 15 (Shaker) is activated with these switches:
Center Ramp Exit (Venice Beach)
Shark Super Scoop
Upper VUK (Earthquake)
Upper Ball Launch
Pop Bumpers
Can someone with this shaker mod please confirm this?

I have confirmed all of these last night - your code analysis is great. Just to be clear - the upper ball launch, is the solenoid above/behind the shark flipper which loops the ball back to the upper left flipper for the IRONMAN shot.

Quoted from mavantix:

pthermes !! It seems to only pulse a slight bit each time it's triggered. Obviously if the ball spends a lot of time in the pop bumpers it can get going a bit more. Normal, or should it stay on longer each time it's triggered? Is that adjustable at all?

mavantix - This sounds like it it is acting correctly, the pulses put out by the ROM are very short and only equate to a few revolution of the motor, so on the short pulses, like the Shark kick-out and center ramp it is about 1/2 second, just enough to feel that something happened, the pop bumpers can really get it going if you continue to get hits.

Quoted from Ben1981:

This shaker is absolutely worth its money, so well integrated into the gameplay, love it

Ben - Thank you for the kind words. After I got Baywatch it I really missed the shaker action from my Last Action Hero during the pop bumpers, and had to figure out a way to make it happen. I lucked out that there was actually coding for the shaker in the newest ROM, otherwise I would have had to tap into each of the pop bumpers.

Can anyone tell me what triggers the "Collect Shark Awards" located directly above the flippers? I would think it is shooting the shark hole, but even with the glass off I can't get the machine to advance past the first one....

thanks Whysnow and @chadh, Can't wait to rock some new code on Baywatch!! Is there another thread that will track the changes?

Quoted from Lermods:

I don't believe the shaker is software driven, it fires off the pop bumpers.

It is software driven, it fires on the Shark hole kick out too. It is connected to solenoid driver 15, which even though it says unused, works in the test menu. It is also only programmed in ROM Version 4.0, anyone who bought my kit had to update ROM to get it to work.

Help! I'm running out of room in my backbox for mods!

Wow it looks so different with aftermarket power-supply and main board. Glad it is up and running!!

Chad's code is so worth it!!! Can't believe how nice it is to have a working skill shot again without hours of adjustment!!! Everyone remember to donate at Pinballcode.com!!!

Has anyone installed the LEDOCD board? Asking as my wife loves playing Baywatch but can't handle the constant flashing of the GI lighting. Hoping to find away to keep LED's and smooth out or disable the flashing.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/led-gi-smoother-for-data-east

I have the EnerGI Maestro board and it works great. It was installed before Chad's Code upgrade, so I haven't experienced the machine with Chad's code and no board.

Do you think this actuator will work for this style switch?

Yes, but you may need to do some careful bending.

Hey Hoff Fans,

I have a couple people interested in shaker motor kits again for Baywatch, if I can get enough interest I will do another run of ten. Please PM if you are interested. Price would be the same as last run - see review and archived ad for more info.

Here's one (maybe for chadh ?)...playing around last night and during both video modes the game code version screen flashed very briefly on the display, then the game behaved as normal. Anyone else ever experience that? Maybe a bug?

I've experienced the same, I assumed it was a voltage drop or something, but maybe it is code related.

Back by popular demand, I have made another run of shaker kits for Baywatch: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/75769

So I haven't gotten video mode since I upgraded code, so I took off the glass, and can't even get it then.... Please confirm that video mode (water ski) is attained by getting all the shark targets, and then getting the shark hole. Just want to make sure that is correct before I mess with anything. Thanks.

Rocketrob there isn't a good way to film a shaker motor. It feels similar to any other pin that has a shaker.

I have a couple shaker motor kits available for immediate shipping:

Quoted from yellowghost:

What triggers the shaker motor?

Believe it or not, the shaker motor triggers are programmed in from the factory. So it triggers directly from the CPU. The main triggers are: Pops - Center VUK - Shark Kick-out. There are a few others but they are more subtle, the ones you'll notice are the ones listed.

I just ordered Chad's update from Matt's Basement Arcade.

Can anyone comment on this??? It doesn't seem right for a ROM burning service like Matt's Basement Arcade to be using Chad's ROMs which are available free. Maybe I'm wrong and they have permission??

Many (not all) Lowes and Home Depots have a color match machine. If you can take a paint chip bigger than a dime to them they will match it pretty darn well. If they are in a good mood that day you can even get them to do it on of those 4-8 OZ sample sizes for under $10. You can cut out a chip either from under a leg or from the back of the game if the color in those areas is still a match for the sides.

I'm interested to see how well the sample you ordered matches, every machine fades differently after 30 years of varying light exposure.

https://shop.colordmd.com/x-led-192x64-replacement-display-for-baywatch-pinball-machines/
So if I bought one of these what do I all have to do? I’m running firmware 4.01 right now. Is there any other chips that would have to be replaced? How is it installed? Is it soldered in or does it plug in. Does the monitor itself need any updates/upgrades? Do I need to change anything in the pinball machine settings? Thanks

Install instructions are here, no soldering required, works with 4.01:
