RIP NEIL FALCONER....... (You are probably rolling over in your grave over this one, )

"Baywatch, 1995 Sega: 8995.00
I have a Baywatch with only 20 plays on it ! Yes 20 plays by me. I have waxed the playfield and it has led's threw out. Aso comes with the factory light bulbs. This game was a gift from sega to neil falconer the man that designed the software.this game is brand new and I would say the only one like it on planet earth.neil was killed in a car accident and I bought the game from his estate. This game looks like it has been in a time capsule sense 1995 and you just slipped it out of the box. Game is number 25. Please email me for pictures and shipping is no problem, and please call me if you have any questions."

Love mine...

#5 11 years ago

I was prepared to whine about seeing another "members only" topic but all the blood left my brain with the viewing of the first pick now I forgot my plan. Enjoy your thread now

P.s. I also enjoy the pin. Don't own it though.

#6 11 years ago

I don't know if you should advertise the fact you own a Baywatch pin. Others may think less of you.

As long as the prices stay low, I'm a happy camper.

BTW, has anybody on pinside actually purchased the alternate translite form ebay???????? (first pic.../2 sold)

Not me. I like the translite. The cheese factor is one of the reasons I like the game. The tons of ramps, four flippers and difficulty of the machine (for me anyway) are others.

#11 11 years ago

got to love the shades

Love the shaded Hoff!

I got them at the eye Doctors office and used some double sided scotch tape on the glass.

I hear the game is huge in Germany.

I just brought one home last weekend, too bad my cab is the "G" rated version A few minor issues to sort out such as few flaky switches, GI bulbs out near the top of the playfield otherwise she looks and plays great with great flow potential if you make all your shots from all 4 flippers!

baywatch.jpgbaywatch.jpg

#17 11 years ago

There are 2 cab versions? I gotta know more please!

-2
#18 11 years ago

I'm pretty sure that the G rated version was just someone painting it.

The theme sucks, the cab art is embarrassing - it's more pornographic then Playboy in my opinion - but the gameplay rocks. I've got one and don't plan on letting it go anywhere.

#19 11 years ago

My cab has been painted over but very well done in my opinion as you can hardly tell unless you are up close or feel it. I wonder if it was painted by the factory?

g-rated.jpgg-rated.jpg

#20 11 years ago

Wow, I'd almost like that version more, except now the third girl (furthest to the right in your pic) looks pregnant...

I think that the machine would have looked way better with the BAYWATCH logo on the cabinet and maybe one girl on the head of the machine.

That's weak...it's just swimsuits. What's the big deal?

It is pretty strange that the 3 women on the cabinet have their heads cut off ...

#24 11 years ago
Quoted from NYP:

It is pretty strange that the 3 women on the cabinet have their heads cut off ...

Not strange at all.

The headless women are not the focus of the side-ART; their bottoms simply represent the anonymity of the lifeguards, butt not trivializing the important doody of their jobs on the unpredictable beach. What is important, and the true side-art focus, is the lifeguard tower, back-lit by the setting sun, highlighting that their thankless vigilance doesn't stop ... EVER!

Beautiful.

Don't Hassel the Hoff.

Thats my favorite type of woman!!! Sega was thinking ahead.

How many would have sold if they left off the guy from Knight Rider? At no price is it worth having to look up at that Tool every time to play the game.

Do not speak ill of the Hoff! I am looking for one in the Sioux Falls, SD area.

Honestly... I wish I had the money. (I'd offer 3 grand tops if I did BTW.)

(Not sure about the $900 DMD replacement cost, special cabinet paint, or that the auction sticker represents that the game is #25 off the line, but it does look nice.)

I just bought one of these a few weeks ago. Its a formerly routed game and a little beat up but it plays well. Its really a great game in terms of playfield layout and rules. The only thing I don't really like is the Hoff face on the translite and that's tolerable.

Bumping this thread for more Baywatch love!

I've added a LOT of posts having to do with this great machine so it's all "in one spot."

Baywatch has great flow, is great fun, and will never leave my collection! Sound is fun, love the Lifegaurd mode, the "Alllright!" call out - so glad it's affordable!!! Lots of bang for the buck!!

Also fun to mod with the various sea creatures on display, and DMD modes providing lots of options for mods.....

The machine always irks me with the bonuses. Why does it only pay 4 letters and 4 lifeguards even when you have hit all 5?

Quoted from TheBigShow:

Hmm, haven't noticed that - maybe hitting the 5th one is considered it's own "bonus" since you have started a mode at that point and will rack up greater points during the mode.

Last night I just realized that the helicopter rescue mode (the one where you are hitting the yellow targets to pull survivors away from the sinking ship) is not timed - I guess they give you a break because there are so many rescues you have to pull off to complete the mode.

Also, I finally figured out why someone's initials appear when you drop into the "Shark Hole" - this is the last person to have hit all the ramps during multiball and then hit the "Shark Jackpot" - I still haven't been able to complete the *second* Jackpot shot from the upper left flipper though...........

Some had commented on the width of the playfield, it is wider due to the fact that they used metal side rails and the ball travels over the pf which allowed them to utilize more of the right-hand side - excellent layout!!

Used this snow day to finish up my bargain mirror blades on Baywatch. I really like the way the chrome vinyl looks, this is usually used on cars but I used it for the interior sides of the cabinet.
First is the "raw" vinyl roll, which is then slid down inbetween the side of the cabinet and the playfield. This is done so you can draw a line on the opposite (back) side of the vinyl - following the slope of the cabinet; this will become the top of the vinyl when you apply it to the cabinet.
Cut along the pencil line you've drawn, with the playfield up start at the front of the cabinet and use the cut slope as your guide.
Pull the backing off the vinyl slowly, as you go and press down the sticky side as you go along. At some point, you'll have to cut the backing off with scissors because it will get too large beneath the vinyl as you apply it.
There will be a small area at the top of the cabinet that you'll have to fill in with some of the remainder of what you've trimmed off. You will barely notice where the seam is.
Final step is to remove the thin clear plastic applied to the vinyl to protect it.
The finished project.

^^ Last photo above ^^Unfortunately, as thin as this vinyl is, you still run the risk of messing up the top once you let the playfield down. I just did this today - geeze..........

I'm just learning the Baywatch rules, and noticed that the automatic Shark flipper shot from the right side hits way above the flipper on the left instead of going in the hole. Has anyone else had to tune this yet? Do I just need to rebuild the flipper mech before I even worry about the aim?

it always pays to rebuild the flipper mech if you haven't done so in a while and align it with the top running guide but there is also a setting to tune the delay for the automatic flipper shot - though it never be perfect.

Do this first, it's a Baywatch specific setting in the menu - mine was off too and this fixed it up.

Played this game last night for the first time at a private tourney. Great game! First of all, you can never have enough sexy ladies and this game has them in droves. Game play is very fun. Lots of ramps, cool sounds and the huge DMD is,awesome. I'll be joining the club someday...

#41 10 years ago

Welcome aboard Dbaum!

Little advice - start saving yer change for the time when that huge DMD burns out!!!

Nice dude, even though I did a factory reset in the setup, the shark flipper adjustment was set to 0 when the manual says the default is 2. Setting it to 2 made it work on the first try!

#43 10 years ago

Darkwing, glad that was an easy fix! Have fun!

Just got the kit from Pinball Pro installed last night. The added bass sounds sweet! The only part I was confused on was determining which wires connecting to the sub were pos/neg. Guessed the black striped wire was ground with the white striped wire being positive, but I need to track it back to the sound board to be sure I guess.

Next up are LEDs and a rebuild of the drop targets. After rebuilding the flippers, the drop targets lasted about 48hrs before breaking one target off. Time for new targets to go along with those stronger flippers!

I just finished putting my Baywatch back together after having the wireforms powdercoated Candy Blue and put my shark back where he belongs.

candy blue looks nice - changes the look and stoked people are doing the shark mod

#47 10 years ago

For my shark mod I had to go with the Great White ! Nothing say's shark more than Great White -go big or go home ! I also added an Octopus back at the pop bumpers ( picked up at a thrift store ) . Squid - I don't know where that came from because in the DMD it's clearly an Octopus .

definitely put some Stern mirror blades, will add to the machine.

#49 10 years ago

I need to post pics of the mods my wife and I did over the weekend. Added a shark...but it's the best shark EVAR.
Also added a squid and dolphin. Just need to add a spotlight for the squid because it's a little dark back in the right.

And mirror blades still need to be ordered, they sure do look slick.

Mirror blades are definitely in the near future for me!
