Should be on the CPU in the head. Only long skinny board there. If no batteries on it. See if there are any wires soldered to the CPU where a battery holder was and follow them.

Grab a meter and measure the two loose ends and see if you get 4.5 volts DC, if so you have batteries hiding somewhere else, if not, to batteries.
Then if it doesn't lose settings when turned on, check under the battery holder for battery damage, it may be enough gunk to retain settings.
