It really looks fun and I cant wait to play it in person. The phone hurry up is a little annoying-BEEP BEEP BEEP it definitely makes you want to pick it up quickly!

Quoted from musketd:Maybe you should wait to play the game first before judgement
I agree 100%
We can all sit back and bitch about the outrageous pricing and then try and pick it apart-or wait to play it in person and then form a true opinion. I remember when Stern launched Star Trek, and the shit storm that followed. Well it turned out to be a great game and many people changed their tune. Time will tell
Quoted from jackofdiamonds:saying its a great game(generalization)is your opinion only.
Well it is #16 currently on top 100 ratings, so I think I am not alone to think that Star Trek is a decent game?
I guess it's like my opinion man.
I got some good time on Batman66 and I was not impressed. I felt it played clunky and the rotisserie was a mess. I got 2 balls stuck during one game on top of the rotisserie. The problem was first it had to wait for ball search and then I had to wait for the rotisserie to slowly rotate to drop my ball back on the playfield. I thought the Hulk was bad on Avengers for ball hold-ups, Batman66 is 4x worse in terms of time and frustration. The animations seemed repetitive and annoying, I can't seem to get that frame of Joker turning around 100 times out of my head. Code should improve over time with the repetitive animations. The crane was not as exciting to me as it is in BDK for some reason? It seems like it is just running along with other modes and does not have much impact on game play, it felt flat?
I really played the game with an open mind but it just did not do anything for me. I think it may be because I did not grow up watching the series and I can relate to the Batman movies more because that is what I grew up with. The colors on the playfield and cabinet really pop and it is a cool looking game. I told my wife I truly feel sorry for the guys who dropped 15 large on SLE, unless money means nothing and they are filthy rich, they got bamboozled. Batman66 is a $5200 game, and not nearly worth $15,000. Sorry but I don't think code will be able to save this one.
Quoted from Rarehero:Yeah I felt the same. I think maybe it's the audio. When you start the crane on BDK, the music becomes very dramatic ...and each hit has a really cool and intense sound effect. Then - the final hit takes your directly into multiball with another intense music change. The associated sounds make the hits and events more satisfying.
I was also thinking my old BDK had a flipper fidelity sub and a shaker, it made a huge difference. No shaker in Premium could have thrown it off as well. The crane without a shaker is like nacho's without the cheese.
The reason for extreme dimpling is because of the plywood Stern has sourced. There are different grades of wood with different density and some of the older playfields with less dimpling were most likely 10-11 layer vs 5-7 layer. Previous manufacturers might have also chosen better wood strains that are more dense. Using dense woods instead of soft woods like Douglas Fur and Pine. All wood will dent and create craters but to what degree is the question. The harder the wood strain and the more layers makes the plywood more dense and rigid. Cost cutting by choosing a lesser quality product is becoming the norm in the attempt to streamline production and maximize profits.
Quoted from J85M:I'm dreading the arrival of my LE, Sterns overall quality has hit rock bottom, what the hell is going on
This comment is concerning to me, getting a NIB is supposed to be exciting and part of the enjoyment of this hobby, not the other way around.
I am concerned that this could become a major issue for Stern. The Batman66 I played also had cracking in the shooter lane, and big dimples. I really thought that Stern's beta testers and quality control department had this problem resolved. I was wrong and now it is really becoming concerning. I really like Stern and I love pinball and I would do almost anything to try and save a company from it's own demise. If Stern does not fix these issues and start turning out quality product again they will be in trouble.
I watched this documentary the other day on Netflix called Atari: Game Over. It is a documentary about the rise and fall of Atari and how a couple of big mistakes cost the company to fold and go under. One of the mistakes was Atari getting greedy and wanting to capitalize on Christmas and they wanted to piggyback on the success of the ET franchise. Atari gave one of their head programmers 5 weeks to code ET instead of the standard 5 month time frame. It turned out that nobody liked the game and they made over 4 million cartridges. It was not the only reason Atari failed but it was a big contributing factor. Sounds familiar with trying to push product out the door too soon before proper testing was performed.
My point here is these large arcade/pinball manufacturers are more susceptible to trends and consumers than we know. If Stern has a couple of bad titles in one year that nobody buys, or they have major quality control issues that result in law suits, they will find themselves in deep shit. I recommend Stern hire a qualified beta tester that can help deter any potential issues that can become major problems. There is absolutely no excuse to have these Batman66 going out with defective playfields. They need to figure this out-like yesterday. Stern if you are reading this you can hire me as an outside consultant, I could help streamline your production without compromising quality.
Quoted from gearheaddropping:much of this will come down to how much customers care about these "issues"
Trust me when these guys with deep wallets start seeing their $10-$15k machines deteriorating before their very eyes, they will not stay silent.
