Quoted from hoby1:Yep ...... and new Hondas haven't gone up 300% since 2009 even with options and new touch screen displays
The game has been promoted as a special edition game from the start. Do we really need to keep beating that horse?

Quoted from hoby1:I love my 100 % Stern lineup. But I refuse to pay stupid money for a semi rehashed game with unfinished code.
Noted. Now u can drain the thread
Quoted from thundergod76:After seeing the stream I'm more excited than ever to get mine. BTW did anyone else hear Gomez say that there will be updates to BM66 approximately ever 2 weeks until complete? That was awesome to hear! I just wish Stern had this same commitment to all the other games they have lacking in code.
That's just them saying "it's a work in progress" - don't interpret that to mean "till final polish".
2 weeks is a pretty common sprint interval for software development. It gives devs time to work on things and get them tested... without letting them bog themselves down into things that are "too big" and your velocity suffers. It's a compromise preached in agile development. It's possible internally they are starting to advocate lean/agile to address their release drought and multiple project issues. But I wouldn't get overhyped on the idea that somehow focus on code is going to multiply overnight.
"Release early, release often" is a mantra to avoid overthinking things and getting so late you are no longer relevant.
This is simply stern acknowledging things aren't done and they are still actively pushing releases often. "Game is complete" is still a unicorn that needs more than quick cycles to fix.
Quoted from RTS:This is the stupidest thing you've ever said.
Buyers are responsible. Probably more specifically those who bought games from flippers who sold NIB games for more money.
If people don't pay the prices, prices drop or businesses fail. One of the two.
I believe what he means is... the other guys proved the price point.. and Stern is just following along willing to fill in right behind them. Basically, the other guys took the risk... Stern is just capitalizing.
Quoted from hoby1:Not bashing..... but why the heck would a topic be started if first impressions were only supposed to be positive
It's not about being positive or not... it's about having something to contribute. Beating the same dead horse... does not.
Quoted from docquest:I haven't had a spike game yet. What are the node board problems?
Just the issue that despite node boards supposedly being repairable with throughhole transistors, etc... failures have largely been board swaps so far. There isn't voltage protection where a short can take out a lot of stuff.
These arguments are so funny.
Yes Stern can make changes... like the VUK change on ST.. but at least MAKE IT KNOWN.
The problem... yet again... is Stern's horrible approach towards customer engagement and communications.
Since Stern doesn't tell anyone anything.. people are left to speculate and wonder if the factory screwed up, will some be one or the other, or was it an intentional change.
It would take 5 mins to OWN UP TO THE CHANGE and communicate it to the customer base.
You guys spend 3 pages arguing about the bits and parts.. and miss what actually drives satisfaction or not.
the artifacts in the video can be minimized with better encoding. In real time video flat surfaces with shadows are the worst for macroblock effects (those blocky, off color blocks you see) but because we are real-time, we have to balance things to avoid latency.
When encoding for just playback, you can optimize your encoding far far better because you can take longer. Your BluRays are compressed and have very little artifacting.. because of the encoders and bitrate. Besides storage and RAM... no reason to have compression artifacts in a system like this unless the streaming bitrate is horrible... which would be stupid on a system just released.
This is again.. probably just Stern learning the ropes.
Quoted from kpg:You are so wrong brother.. so wrong... and to bet against someone trying to make find resolution for so many people who have been sold defective products is just not cool.
Save yourself the effort... this song has been played over and over again. He's probably drinking again and fueling up for a posting-tsunami. It's just his form of entertainment. Don't fall for it.
Quoted from PinMonk:Has anyone else had problems with the GI lights falling apart? I've had two clear domes come off the GI lighting and get loose on the playfield. First time this has ever happened on a Stern I can remember.
Not new... seen it all the way back at AC/DC. The LED domes can pop off many different aftermarket ones at times too.
People are buying pins that cost nearly three times of a normal pin without ever playing it.... and you guys are worried about a guy rating the game he hasn't played? This is place is pure comedy sometimes
Quoted from iceman44:You should know, you provide some of the amazingly dumb "pure comedy" yourself.
Whenever I need to kill time with something I give zero fucks about it... I let myself read one of your posts.
