LE owner here.
I really hope to have this before Christmas.

Quoted from J85M:MK since it looks like your going to be getting your BM66 any day now, do you have any plans on trying out Cliffy's BDK VUK protector? Crane and VUK look identical in position so it should fit, just thought I would ask, and if not does anyone else plan on test fitting on?
If Stern is consistent with their last 2 games, the cliffy protector will already be installed.
Anyone who has the game, did they install Cliffy's on the playfield?
I know it won't be found on the drain or shooter lane.
Quoted from thundergod76:The one guy who has one posted in the other thread said no Cliffys were installed by Stern.
OMG!!!!! That is unreal.
How does Spidey VE and Ghostbusters come with Cliffy's, but their most expensive game ever doesn't???
Quoted from hawkmoon:Wow.proud SLE owners!! Just talked to my Distro,my LE will be WEEKS before I get mine,so,count yourselves in the lucky first bunch! Last deal I do with those guys
Who's your distributor?
After looking closely at the scope pics for Dark Knight and Batman 66, it appears the scoop did not change. I'm also taking Gomez at his word that everything on that side remained untouched.
I ordered the cliffy protector.
I will report back on if it fits or not later this week after I get the cliffy and game.
Quoted from jfh:The video has some nice split screen of the LCD and playfield action (about the last third of the video). Not on the 0.65 code level, but still useful.
As the code matures, more video of the machine being played will be posted.
Quoted from MT45:Heads up on potential issue with LEDs under slings. They are pretty close to the edge of the rubbers and apparently one of mine made contact with the ball as it shoved the sling rubber back.
Cracked the top right off.
Replaced with some purple max
Original white LED'S in last pic
It happened on my machine too.
Load up on these bulbs.
Any Batman 66 owners live near Cliffy?
In my opinion, I think we are going to need some protection for the spinning device.
I already installed the Dark Knight scoop protector...it fits perfectly.
Quoted from ATLpb:Good call on the scoop.
What do you mean about the spinning device- protect what specifically?
There's a pretty big space between the playfield and the rotating device. I can see the wood taking a beating in that area.
For the amount everyone has spent, I'd imagine everyone wants max protection.
I had asked him about making a protector there. He said he'd do it if anyone near him can provide him the game/playfield.
Quoted from thundergod76:Do you know if the BDK shooter lane Cliffy will fit BM66?
He is working on the shooter lane.
Edit: my original answer was in regards to the scoop. I misread your question.
Quoted from thundergod76:Do u know if the siderail Cliffy is needed? I thought I read BM66 siderails were metal.
Not needed. Game comes with one.
I'm working on a fix for the ball flying off the left ramp.
Does anyone know of a store that sells hex spacers?
Quoted from MT45:Pinball Life. I just ordered a bunch and have ordered in the past. Many sizes available
I was looking for a local store.
I ended up putting my order through them anyway.
Quoted from iceman44:Here is what I'm gonna tackle tonight. Chas was very helpful as usual.
1). Turn table assembly is likely screwed up with a broken weld. Not sure. Gonna try again tonight with code update. But table won't turn all the way.
I will go through distro for a replacement most likely.
2). Flippers are dead. He said it might be related to Node 8 being bad and has to be replaced. One strange thing though is that while doing the glass off thing last night, the right flipper moved upright and stayed locked until I turned it off again. Weird.
3). Wiring assembly from the head down to the PF appears to be too short! I can't get the PF into the full service position, too tight, yep I've looked for any crimping or hang ups.
Says they possibly hooked up a shorter one? He was going to check himself.
I'll post pics tonight of card and plaque and update progress if any!
Is it the cat 5 wire that is too short?
Quoted from iceman44:Gonna try and figure it out tonight. Will unplug the harness and see what's going on
That part I can get direct overnight. The rest goes through Distro
Any cat 5 wires will work.
If that wire isn't long enough, it may not have a good connection. In my KISS machine, there was a cat 5 wire that just caused problems. When I put in a new one, everything worked perfectly.
If I were in your shoes, I would try everything else first, before taking off the rotating playfield. It's not going to be easy getting that out or putting it back into the game.
Do you see the black piece right next to the screw? There's 3 small boards above the white plastic that have them. There's 1 board under the plastic that has it too. Pic to follow.
Quoted from bkfiv:OK out of the box it seems like I'm having the same left ramp ball jumping the wire like a lot of others. That I'll work with.
I'm working on a fix for this. Hoping to have it finished tonight and I'll post what I did.
With the new code, the magnet looks to be very active.
Not sure what others think, but I think Mylar around it is needed.
I bought the Iron Man VE magnet Mylar. Put it on the magnet, trimmed the top at the edge and around the magnet.
It's a shame it isn't already installed on the game.
They should've just done what I did. Use a thicker plastic and slightly longer screws.
That new plastic extends a lot further. It gets right in the way of Batman & Robin climbing up the wall.
At the 10:25 mark, it is clear how the new plastic is mounted. They put a hex spacer on top of the gate in the rear.
I won't put that bigger plastic on my machine.
I cut a piece of Lexan that was just a little bit thicker than the plastic that comes with the game. It works perfectly.
Quoted from thundergod76:Not sure the Hallmark Batmobile will fit. It's definitely longer than the Hot Wheels one. I'll measure mine tonight and post if someone else doesn't do so before me. By the way does anyone know how to adjust the crane so it's centered above each target? Mine is off a little and when it returns home it smacks the metal on the side.
I would look underneath. There has to be sensors down there under the metal plate.
Quoted from hawkmoon:Question,Bat Fans,On the little t.v. ,all I have seen is a View of the Batcave and Red bat phone!! Has anyone else seen anything move on the t.v.??Any different view,or scene??Thanks!!
Did you get a multi-ball yet?
I'm guessing 1.0 will be finished code.
Spidey VE shipped with code 1.0, then had a minor fix with code 1.01
Quoted from iceman44:Well, its a great update for me from .65
But it has a LONG ways to go
And i have no doubt 1.0 will be fantastic
I think Lyman is going to turn this machine into a must have.
Is there a min-wizard mode in the current code?
Last night, I completed the 4 main villains...I didn't know what to do next.
I know the code still has a way to go...but the more I play this machine, the more I love this machine.
The theme integration is second to none...they captured the fun of the series. The extra ball animation...just brilliant.
I think that once more and more people discover this game, that Stern is going to need to ramp up production of the premiums.
When I move later this year, Ghostbusters LE & Batman LE will still sit side by side in the new game room . Last DMD and first LCD.
Quoted from cooked71:Has anyone hit up Stern for the improved left wireform plastic cover that we saw being installed on the premiums during a factory tour?
Cut a new piece using lexan. Same size will fix the air balls.
Quoted from iceman44:It came on my pin. No rattle in the ramp either.
Can you take a pic of it?
Thanks.
Quoted from iceman44:I just used my handy self adhesive felt to protect shooter lane.
I've done nothing else to it yet as far as protection goes. I'll add some cling vinyl in the ramp drops.
What about the scoop? Mylar for that area anybody?
The magnet needs Mylar.
Cliffy has a scoop protector for the game.
Quoted from Pinstein:Yes, once piece would be plenty but the smaller one is riveted on to the cat entrance plastic and too much of a pain for me to remove.
How does the new plastic protector connect to the cat plastic?
Quoted from thundergod76:Under the original plastic with slightly longer machine screws. Other than a full wireform it should have been mounted this way originally.
So there's the original plastic and the new plastic on there at the same time?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Joker targets are not registering. I tested every switch in the game and those 2 are the only ones not registering.
I checked the board they are plugged into and everything looked fine. I'm trying to avoid taking that beast apart.
Quoted from PinMonk:What happens usually is one or both those targets get jammed on the inside edge against that metal post in the center. If just one is "closed" it will block the other one. Check that both the targets move freely. If they seem to, in switch test mode pull the targets forward and see if that registers a hit. That only happens IF the switch is stuck closed and by moving it forward, you're "triggering" the switch by unsticking it.
Be right back...let me go test.
Update: THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gold star to vireland! This is why I love this site.
The problem with the original plastic over the left ramp was that it flexed too much. I just cut a piece of lexan to replace the original piece.
I spoke to Chas about my fix but I guess they didn't want to spend the money on the lexan.
Quoted from thundergod76:Did you rivet the Cat sign to the new piece or just keep it attached to the original piece?
I riveted the new piece to the Cat sign.
IMO, I think it's silly to try and do an update every 2 weeks.
An update should be released when it's good and ready.
I know I've said it to others, but I knew exactly what I was getting into when I bought the Batman LE.
KISS was released May 2015...the cities still do nothing. Let's see when the secondary bad guys do something in Batman.
Quoted from MK6PIN:LOTS of animation/ lighting effects added in 4 ball mb. More animated stuff in attract mode than before. Many combo shots registering, but haven't figured them out yet. Much, much more to do. Mini villains not there yet, and confusing what the gadget belt helps, but tons of fun just playing it. I could be dreaming, but the magnet seems more powerful. Grabs the ball hard on bat phone shots, and slings it around a lot more randomly in other modes.
Time to go play it some more....
Gadgets look like they count towards defeating a villain when activated.
I got a super jackpot at the atomic reactor tonight. Did they get a sound a like for the narrator, it sounded like him when I hit the shot.
Quoted from Sethman:I know it was mentioned earlier in this thread or one of the others.... what did you guys end up doing to fix the joker switch getting stuck?
Mine had been fine never an issue until tonight. It got jammed multiple times during a long play session. Total buzzkill to a good game when you can't engage the joker at all.
I have a new bracket on the way. I hope that does the trick.
Quoted from Sethman:Did you call in to Stern and was that the suggested resolve? keep us posted
I took the bracket off, cut it at the bend, and welded it back together. I thought I could get it perfect, but my work yard isn't really set up for small welding jobs that needs precision.
The way I should've fixed it. Take the bracket off, file down on top of the bracket the side that needed raising.
The way mine sat, the left corner kept catching. If I thinned out that side of the bracket, it would've raised the target up enough to clear it and level out the stand up.
Dynamic Due was the episode's title last night.
Permanent fix for the stuck joker targets.
I received a new bracket today from Stern (they actually sent the whole target assembly). I took off the old L bracket that connects to under the playfield and installed the new L bracket (warning, it is a real pain). My old bracket wasn't straight, causing the edge of the target to get stuck. My new bracket is perfectly straight, resulting in the target never being able to get stuck.
Quoted from kingkong16:Anyone still having problems with the Joker target sticking on the metal post? I have adjusted it a few times now under the PF but it still gets stuck when the ball hits it hard. What are the best ways to fix this?
#1 - File down the top of the bracket that rests against the underside of the playfield.
#2 - Have Stern send you a new bracket.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:are folks installing a cliffy on the super jackpot saucer? is there one available?
I did and yes there is one available.
The cliffy does make the shot harder, like his original KISS protector. He does want to make a new one, like the updated KISS protector, but someone needs to get him a machine so he can redesign it. Is there anyone near him that can help out?
Without a machine, he can't make the shooter protector either.
Quoted from J85M:Yeah that must be a BM66 issue becusdd the one i had on my BDK fit perfectly inline with the scoop lip/edge. Although I remember some people saying it made the shot harder on BDK but I never had that issue. If cliff can work with someone local to get a new protector for a perfect fit that would be awesome and I would be in for one!
Is there anyone local to him with the game?
I won't take the cliffy off to make the shot easier.
Quoted from ATLpb:One of the extra ball animations has a golden duck or goose on the dock? Is that potentially a hint at their next "boutique" title? Willy Wonka was on the "what should we make next" feedback cards at Expo '16 when the game was revealed.
I think the ducks are there because some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.
If anyone at Stern is reading this...let Lyman know that he is the man!
This game is going to turn into one of Stern's best games...most of the Batman 66 owners know that.
Quoted from PinMonk:What, no credit for KaPow? It's technically their game in partnership with Stern.
Kapow was used to get the license.
Lyman is coding it.
Quoted from thundergod76:Pretty sure that's been in the code since at least .70. You rarely hear it but makes me laugh every time. However when they say "super jackpot is lit" the red arrow never seems to be lit. Is the super jackpot the atomic pile?
Yes.
Quoted from thundergod76:Thanks Trekkie. Having trouble installing new code. Put the usb in the backbox and turned on. When I hit select it just sits there and does nothing. No service menu buttons work. After a minute a strange faint buzz can be heard from backbox. I'm approaching my 18th hour of downloading etc. This is getting annoying. Anyone else?
Get a new USB stick. If that doesn't work, you may need a new SD card from Stern.
I think it took my machine about 10 minutes to update.
My game got a good workout last night. It was agreed that the code is now fun...let's be real...ship code was pretty bad.
How does one put up a high score in the batphone hurry up? One of my friends got 22 million in the hurry up...we had no idea how he did it.
She only gave you a score of 26 million....
You definitely have a keeper...don't do anything to mess it up. Lol
Adam West was such an important part of my childhood (born 1978). I loved the show as a kid and still do as an adult.
So sad to see him go. I'm really happy that Stern decided to do Batman 66. Adam West will forever be part of my life through the game and the series on blu-ray.
I really wish I was able to go to the Chicago expo to meet him.
Quoted from thundergod76:Your new PRE is looking very spiffy with those mirror blades! I'm holding out to see what Franchi comes up with for Stern. The Stern accessories wait for this machine is getting ridiculous.
Call your distributor. They should be able to order you the art blades that came on the LE.
Has anyone adjusted their magnet yet?
I was cleaning my playfield today and noticed one side was a little too low.
Easy adjustment?
I'm guessing 2 more weeks till the next code update.
I'm wondering if Lyman has any other tricks up his sleeve or if he will focus on the secondary villains and/or the seasons.
Quoted from cooked71:Sounds like that flap you've got is smaller and too thin, so it rattles and sometimes the ball can fly off. This was on the original games, but Stern released a longer and thiner plastic flap that goes under the smaller one you have. It came in a fix kit that also had the steel diverter for the left plastic.
Also, if you're having trouble with the plunger spring (too soft plunge), they will give you a stronger spring. In some early games the sting was too soft.
What's the right color spring for the game?
My fix for the flap, was cutting a new one out of thicker plastic. Plastic won't bend and works perfectly. I just had to remove the old plastic and river this one to the cat metal.
Quoted from cooked71:You didn't get the Stern one? Best thing about the Stern one is the support post at the back - makes the whole thing more sturdy.
I did get it, but 4 months after I already fixed mine. The Lexan that I cut works perfectly. No reason for me to update it.
Quoted from J85M:News/info of code may come tomorrow fingers crossed.
I'm guessing June 29/30. Be a nice to have it for the holiday weekend.
Quoted from J85M:If I was a betting man I would put money on most of us buying LEs was on the fact Lyman was on code.
If Lonnie was doing code, I would've never bought this game at the increased asking price.
Quoted from Mojosan:Anyone having an issue with one of the villain vision targets getting stuck behind the metal bracket that's part of the mech? I recall seeing it addressed before, but searching for it turned up blank.
I've attempted to tighten/loosen the mech a bit and target was good for 5 plays or so then got stuck again.
1 - take off the L bracket that rests against the playfield. Filenthe top down a little bit. This will raise the target so it stops getting stuck.
2 - have Stern send you a new target.
Stern sent me a new target. All I did was install the newer L bracket. Worked perfectly.
Quoted from marksf123:Thanks - I bought HUO
Is there a link on how to update the SW?
Did you get the one stretch was selling?
Someone local to cliffy needs to get him this game.
Cliff said he'll redesign the scoop cliffy, but he needs the physical game in order to do it.
The way I see it, the longer the wait, the bigger the update.
I'd rather Lyman stay focused on coding the game instead of trying to get constant updates out.
Don't forget, patience is a virtue...granted, whoever first said that probably never had to wait for anything.
I'm sure the next update will be substantial.
Now, Stern should come out and say that in order to get us complete code faster, they want to make the updates less frequent.
I'm sure testing for release takes some time.
We are one day closer...I just don't know what day.
At that is point, if I had to guess, it's coming out right before Labor Day weekend.
Quoted from J85M:After watching the SW Premium stream last night, it left me feeling even more confident I made the right purchase.
Big BM66 fan and huge SW fan, jumped on BM66 ahead of SW because Lyman was coding and because of the limited availability, wanted the LE for its extras.
Was always worried I'd wanted SW more but after seeing the Premium, BM66 is the better game imo, when it comes to theme integration BM66 knocks SW out the park.
I think Batman 66 has the best theme integration out of all the Stern machines.
Quoted from MK6PIN:Its truly amazing how the machine captures the theme....love it!!!
When I play games like GOT or Iron Man, they come across as serious. Batman 66 has such a corny feel to it, thus they captured the magic of the show.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:Same thing happened with TWD - sales slow to start with then the Lymanator came along and it was hastalavista baby and the orders flowed.
Same thing with Star Trek after Dwight fixed the code.
Quoted from docquest:Batman seemed a little OCD with his incessant labeling of everything in the batcave.
But it wasnt just him, seems everyone in Gotham liked to label things.
Or in this case explicitly not label things.
So I thought it would be fitting to dress up the coin door area with some labels to make sure people know what everything is.
Need to add a "bat start button" and maybe a "bat coin door lock".
I love in the movie, when the Penguin asks for water in the bat cave and Batman says something along the lines of "The water dispenser is clearly marked."
This next code drop is going to be epic...almost 3 months since the last one.
IMO, this might be "finished" code when released. I'm sure we'll get another update to fix the bugs.
Quoted from iceman44:I think Trudeau and Yeti have teamed up again on Iron Maiden
Keith and Franchi on Kapow
We shall see!
I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing anymore Trudeau designs.
Quoted from Mayboyz:I think stern has been not telling the truth on a lot of things.
But me buying an SLE i was promised in writing this game would be complete.
You cannot buy parts ( Decals, Armor, topper parts, Cabinet decals, assemblies or plastic sets)
Who ever heard on not being able to buy parts?
They have not done right by this pin and I'm not sure they are going to either.
They have big problems in the STERN house and the only way to fix this is to not buy there pins.
Its all about $$$ to them no longer quality.
Not buy parts? I already purchased parts for this game.
IMO regarding the code, I think Lyman found the monthly code drops were slowing his progress. He probably told Gomez that he wanted to focus on finishing the game, instead of implementing minor updates every 30 days.
Does the wait suck? Absolutely. My machine only gets played when friends come over.
Stern...listen up...I'm giving you some free advice. If I'm the marketing department, I'm doing a youtube video of Lyman working on the game, where he talks about how much effort he has put in, how he thinks people will love his vision, and show quick clips of new animations/videos with callouts. Put it on the Facebook page and watch sales of premiums pick up.
Stern should really come out and communicate with this title.
I understand if they can't give a definite timeline. But they should at least give us an idea of what the next code update will entail.
The new Star Wars doesn't have complete code, but it's deep code. Current Batman code is fun...but extremely shallow.
Quoted from MK6PIN:Sneak peek....ignore the ramp ( being used for fitting)....look at prelim wireform....will also have Hidden switch to replace gate.....this is gorgeous, and will be lightning fast and solid!!!
Has it been tested in the game yet? I did a lot of testing with different sized lexan to make the smallest plastic possible.
What I found, the ball loves to jump off the ramp. I marked up your pic where I think the metal should be extended to...I'm not an artist, did the best I could. I don't think the top of the ramp is far enough forward. It may also need a top to the right side of it.
The other thing too, the plastic piece needs to be cut down to hold the cat plastic above the ramp.
Quoted from MK6PIN:I'll have it later in the week to test away....I really dig the partial form, and how the total shape gives it a very fresh look. Matt asked if he should move the partial forward....told him to leave as is until I had a chance to play it.
This is just the prototype......we will work the bugs out ( if any) after I get to blast some steel through it. Original ramp was never finished, floppy, and needed a last minute piece of plastic to hold the ball on the ramp. This will have a nice channel, and flow properly.
Once I raised the back of my form by the diverter, I could never get the ball to launch off at the front. If we have to move it forward, no biggie. Matt is a genious with these things, and the final version will be a must have, period.
Figured it would be fun to post some positive progress, so everyone could see the work in progress....
I hope you're able to perfect it. The real shame is that this ramp should've been designed like this from the beginning.
Do you have an idea of what it would cost us to get one?
Quoted from legionsoup:Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this after-market ramp that's being worked on to replace the current ramp that has the clear plastic to keep the ball on the rails?
Let's say I'm interested. How difficult would it be to install if I've done very little/no real work on a pinball machine? (I've changed some fuses, changed out DMD for a color DMD, and added some really easy mods).
Remove a few nuts, loosen the metal entrance ramp. Should take no more than 2 minutes to remove and install.
The problem with the initial plastic that shipped with the game, is that it was too bendable. The bigger plastic isn't any stronger, it's bolted down in the rear, that's what keeps it in place.
I cut a piece of lexan the exact size as the original and it works perfectly. Doesn't bend at all and the ball still travels fast on the ramp.
Quoted from MK6PIN:The replacement plastic was also substantially longer....did you raise the pitch on the back w foam ( like many) to cure the problem, or saying just the lexan did it ( if that was the case, the ball would be hitting the underside of the plastic)
Lexan fixed it. Ball still hits it, but the lexan has no give in it like the original plastic.
Right side doesn't need the lexan. If my plastic on the right side were to crack, then I'd make one.
Quoted from MK6PIN:Posted in other thread.....Matt is shipping me the wireform back tomorrow, will be here for me to install and start testing this weekend!!!
Picking up my fresh powder coated coindoor and shooter assembly Friday. Is this a sign?!? Code Thursday!?!? I'm liking our chances this week!!!.....
Can you take video of the ramp in action?
Quoted from MattS:So I'm moving games around to make room for ACDC vault and just notice the bottom of BM66 is nice!
Do the premium and LE cabs look like this?
Just figured it could be something else to discuss while we wait for code......
That's just on Batman. My Star Wars LE & Ghostbusters LE have no paint on the bottom.
Quoted from Yelobird:Sorry I may just be to lazy to read all 97 pages again but what was the fix for the stuck (sticking) joker target switch? Pulling the glass to pop it out every 10 plays seems counterproductive. Any advice would be appreciated I'm certain I seen this asked before just couldn't find it. Thanks.
I put it new brackets. That did it for me.
Quoted from J85M:Did you double them up? Reposition? Or simply use a better bracket than factory ones? Thanks.
Got new ones from the factory.
The other thing you can do, is take the bracket off. File down the side that sits against the playfield. The targets stick because they are sitting a hair too low.
Quoted from Bamatami:How do you even get to that?! Stern sent me a new target, but for a newbie, it looks like I'm about to replace a part on the ISS!
It's underneath the playfield. Use magnetic tools.
It's not hard, just a pain cause of the tightness of the area.
Future boutique releases by Stern won't be rushed out the door. This was only due to the 30th anniversary.
I hope it's today.
I'm busy the next 3 nights...I don't want to wait till Saturday to finally play the new code, if it is released tomorrow.
Quoted from docquest:I got a crane scoop cliffy a while ago when I first got my game. I thought it was same as the one he made for the dark knight. Is he making another version?
Yes. The updated version is similar to his updated version of the KISS scoop. The protector has a 45 degree band in it now, opening up the shot more.
Quoted from jfh:I haven't received the set yet. I just asked for everything and those were the pictures he sent. He's really backligged at the moment and said it would be a few weeks. I also asked where the washer went. He said it goes under the switch to tilt it into the hole.
That’s where it goes. Makes sense, because the protector makes the switch stop working. All I did, was the bend the end and it worked perfectly...guess I have an extra washer now.
Quoted from jfh:If you have Batman in a row of games where it isn't easy to get to the head to update code, consider running a 10' USB extension cable from the CPU board to the coin door. I ran one down the left side of the cabinet and it was the perfect length after using a few wire ties along the way.
It was great to update to 0.84 without having to get the pin lifter, move the game, open the backbox, remove the translite and then reverse everything. Just open the coin door, plug in the USB drive and power up the game.
I'd be nice if Stern put a UBS slot on the coin door...it would make life so much easier.
Quoted from hawkmoon:Is the capacitor kit useful if I don't have a shaker motor on my pin??I understand this is also necessary on GB as well!!!
Capacitor kit is a breeze to install.
I think the best way to fix the issue, is to take the L bracket off from underneath and file the top side down just a bit. This will raise the target high enough to not get caught on the metal edge.
IMO, when they designed that area, there was no metal edge. Then in testing, they experienced some wear, thus they added the metal edge without correcting the height of the standup target.
Quoted from thundergod76:I thought BM66 Cliffys were the same as Batman TDK Cliffys. What other ones does he have for BM66?
Re-designed scoop...cuts down on the rejected shots.
Shooter lane.
The kick out area in the upper right hand corner. Protector for the edge and a protector for the square cutout where the ball sits.
Quoted from thundergod76:Thanks! I have his TDK Cliffy on the scoop. Get tons of rejects with that and a playfield protector on. Still, all the clear from the rear scoop and the saucer chipped off in the first few weeks of play. My shooter is near perfect with Mylar. Should I even bother with the newer Cliffys?
I would put every cliffy on this game.
Game is way too expensive to not protect.
Quoted from Sethman:Getting the minor villains in and active was a good hurdle to get over for them and us.
So that leaves us still waiting to see implementation of Batusi and how the Seasons affect things right?
Definitely need something else for the crane though. At current code, its not utilized nearly enough for its space and BOM impact. I'm hoping there's some dedicated, additional mode tied to it, that gets dropped on us out of the blue. Similar to how Bat Turn took the underutilized batmobile spinner and made it interesting and useful.
If I had to guess for the seasons, I think it'll be completing season 1 of a character, before season 2 opens up for the character.
Granted, this is nothing more than a complete guess.
I say everyone should adjust the game to their skill level.
If the games weren't meant to be adjusted, then they wouldn't put any adjustments into the game.
I must say, I'm a bit shocked that these don't come up for sale in the community.
Every other game always has people selling, but not this one.
Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing.
If all Kapow games are allowed to get the code that Batman is getting...then I’ll be buying every Kapow game going forward.
I got close to Batusi multiball last night. Had 2 seasons finished...then I forgot how to hit a shot.
Last night, I got 2 seasons completed. Start King Tut season 3 with the Mr. Freeze timers on.
I had King Tut with frozen timers, I had playfield 3X frozen as well.
I hit all of the lit Tut shots...but I didn't have him completed. Is there a shot I need to look for, like the bat computer or something like that? I really thought I was going to get the Batusi multi-ball last night.
I got to a mode tonight where there were fireworks or something similar on the screen.
What mode is that?
Quoted from Robertstone0407:How are you guys getting these scores. I dont consider my self a bad player and im on stock settings but my personal high is 450million
The key is to play through the whole main villain modes. Last night, I put up around 900 million on Riddler and 850 million on penguin. Go for as many multi-balls as you can get. I put up 133 million on Shame. On ball 2, I had a 539 million bonus...don't ask me how I got it.
On villain escape and batusi multi-balls, I just killed it as well.
I can't believe I tilted on ball 3...I would've loved to have known what my bonus would've been.
Quoted from Robertstone0407:I don't know exactly but ive see. People put up bilions on just penguin. Also when you start a villian and shoot the penguin scoop then make the orbit to the mystery hole is it confirmed on all villians that it makes that mode 2x?
Yes to the 2x.
Also try to time the playfiled multiplier with a multi-ball.
If you can, get Mr. Freeze completed. He freezes all the timers.
I say set the amount of balls to whatever you want.
We pay thousands for these games...who cares if someone sets their game to 1 ball or 10 balls.
Quoted from Eskaybee:So is there any advantages to playing or completing certain minor villains before others? Are there rewards for completing minor or major villains? And how do you qualify batsui mb?
To qualify, you need to complete 1 minor villain from each season.
Freeze is the one to complete. All timers get frozen during your ball.
Quoted from taz:Most of us are still sorting out the Minor Villains, as they're the newest part of the code, so take whatever we say with a grain of salt until you can spend some time on them. They're the most interesting part of the game to me though and on .87 code you have a choice of the following, each with unique rules and difficulty. Also, once attempted, they're locked out from further attempts, even if you don't complete them.
Season 1 - Mad Hatter, King Tut, Book Worm
Season 2 - Two Egg, Mr. Freeze, Shame
Season 3 - King Tut
To get to Batusi you must "complete," not start one from each season (your choice) which lights the Season inserts, then hit a solid left orbit to the Batsignal. Season 2 seems to be the hardest for me, even though you only have one option for Season 3 at present. I've been to Batusi once and took the path of Mad Hatter, Mr. Freeze, and King Tut. I've completed both King Tuts and Mad Hatter multiple times, but the others seem much more difficult to me for some reason. They're complicated by almost always being stacked with other modes and on timers, so a couple of bricked shots that get to slinging around uncontrolled can eat your time up.
Mr. Freeze was recently updated to add the Dynamic Duo in snow cones. His is a very "cool" mode. You shoot flashing red lights to turn them white and then shoot them again to put the light out. Shame is a two ball multiball that as far as I know, I've not come close to finishing. Once one of the balls drain, and it's not a long ball save, you're out of Shame mode. I tend to select Shame when on my final ball knowing the end is near, to try and get a little extra mileage out of that two baller against other running modes. As someone mentioned earlier, Book Worm is supposed to be easier once you've completed some other minor villains. Like Shame I have a 100% failure rate on Book Worm so I can't add anything to that. Someone previously mentioned that Two Egg shouldn't be that hard either, but each time I start him I seem to drain quickly. It must those egg shots to the head.
Others might chime in with more specifics on various Minor Villain modes.
Once you ply a through all the minor villains, they all become unlocked to play through again. Not 100% sure if completed ones become unlocked too, I'd imagine they would.
Quoted from docquest:I don't recall seeing any Aunt Harriet footage anywhere not sure if that's because they can't or they just don't think anyone cares about her.
Plus as people noticed earlier no footage from the 66 movie is there.
Not quite sure where it would fit in with the game modes. Unless to the battles is changed to 2 shots to the scoop. First for Aunt Harriet, then the second for the bat pole sequence.
Quoted from jfh:Ok, so women are underrepresented in Batman 66 footage.
Let's take a poll of characters that need more footage. You may only pick two.
1) Batgirl
2) Catwoman
3) Molly
4) Siren
5) Aunt Harriet
I’m all for a Slave Leia Star Wars machine.
They should just make it random for which episodes you play on the 4 major villains.
It’s be pretty cool if they could code 4 different episodes for each major villain (I’m counting parts 1&2 as 1 episode).
Don't forget the protectors for your art blades:
On SPIKE games, I take the playfield out. It's only 3 wires to unplug.
Quoted from PinMonk:There's one in the archive for $9800 recently that wasn't sold. It's not the only one that's been available for under $10k recently.
It sold.
Quoted from eharan:Thanks! I never win anything so this was a nice surprise. I don’t yet own a BM66 but have had a wanted ad for an LE for 6 months and have not been able to find one yet. Also have offered up a trade of my IMDN LE for one with no interest. I will get one some day but is going to take much longer than I had hoped. Lucky for me, my buddy has one that I get to play. Just picked up the Atomic Pile mod for his 40th birthday last week.
Hopefully one day I will be able to buy all the Mod Couples BM66 mods to put on my machine!
Thanks again!
Ed
I’ll probably put that mod on this weekend.
I’m not really a mod guy.....but I looks awesome in person.
At this point, I say the next code update should be when the game is rules complete. There’s plenty to do in the current code.
I’d rather Lyman spend his time finishing the code, instead of trying to get us monthly releases.
Quoted from Yelobird:Agreed. Though I think we would all admit the original listing at 10K was a Steal yet the 20K re-list is extortion. Hope interested buyers find fair deals in time for this great theme.
He will never get 20k for it.
If he is lucky, 12k...more than likely, it will sell for 11k.
Quoted from cooked71:What were they new from Stern?
$9,600 to $10,500.......depending on distributor.
I know of a HUO one that just sold for $9,800....there is no way in hell this will get close to the $20,000 he is asking.
Quoted from Yelobird:Ok with my PM box exploding... I should have clarified my photo and presentation better. We are Not selling these nor making these toppers. As a fellow Batman and Batman 66 super fan we simply wished to show If you love and want something bad enough it can be created! These were done for my Navy son and my father. Not to be sold but as a thank you for there service and support throughout the years. The mod Couple Loves to create and challenge design boundaries but this is nothing more then a clone of someone else’s amazing creation. We would never disparage the efforts of those talented artist/designers nor devalue the buyers of these LE/SLE collectibles. I know I wouldn’t appreciate that either. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s interest in our work and products and I do apologize if anyone assumed my intent was to flood the market with SLE’s. And before anyone asks No, Stern nor anyone contacted us I simply felt my presentation was assumed as goods for sale which was never our intention. Way to much work! Sincerely apologize but our passion for this game is strong. Not strong enough to have every owner and creator dislike us however. Lol. Just consider this a teaching moment that you can create Anything you wish for and there are Many around you that are willing to help you achieve your goal! America was built with creative minds and the will to create, anything is possible. I do appreciate the feedback and sorry if my presentation was incorrectly perceived. My son does love it though and this was his gift for making Chief this week. So very proud of him and this is what he wanted.
How did you get the light to work on the topper? LE machines have a small board that runs it.
Quoted from rotordave:Pretty much how mine is set up.
Otherwise, you’d be playing it for hours. I sold my LOTR because games went so long I just didn’t enjoy it. Never got to valinor though. Haha. The flippers would get weak after 40-45 mins and shooting the ring was nearly impossible. Even had the updated coils.
I think that BM66 4b game was like 45 minutes long? And the 7.5b game must have been an hour. But the stars need to align to get a 3b plus score, the averages would be more like 400-1b range.
That 12b game must have been 90 minutes long ...
rd
Little less than an hour.
The first Villain Escape, I only scored 23 million on it.
Holy multi-ball was 1.9 billion and my bonus on ball 1 was 1.3 billion.
Just an amazing game that will only be getting better.
Quoted from J85M:I’m with you a billion points game is amazing, your comparing yourself to davidpinballwizz and rotordave who are both f’in awesome players and trekkie1978 gets some crazy scores on all his games.
The game before I put up the 12 billion, I don't think I broke 200 million. I had 2 balls drain off the slings, where the ball hits the sling, but not hard enough to activate the switch, but just hard enough to bounce off the rubber on slings and right in between the flippers. That's pinball for you.
Games that have improved my pinball skills: Iron Man VE, Transformers LE, Ghostbusters LE, GOT LE and Star Wars LE. They all have the same thing in common, being extremely fast and hard to get control of the ball. Only game on the list I haven't reached the wizard mode on that list is Star Wars...I came within 2 shots of getting there. Those are the games I play the most in my collection.
Iron Man VE is the one that keeps getting me back the most. My high on it is 137 million. I keep trying for that elusive 200 million...but that game is brutal.
Quoted from Jay_Killjoy:Yup, same fell off mine. It's one of the screws that hold the vertical blue rubber ball stops at the bottom of the ramps- check the metal braces for those.
Thanks. I’ll look when I get home.
I didn’t even think of looking there.
Quoted from Macca101010:Wow, unbelievable score, well done. What was your strategy?
Freeze, bookworm, tut, tut, tut, tut, tut
Quoted from Yelobird:If you find someone to sell their LE topper make sure to bring them in for a psychiatric exam!! lol
Quoted from docquest:On Kaneda's latest podcast he mentioned again that a new Batman66 art package is coming and he recommended potential buys wait to see it before getting the current art package.
Although still a rumor, I dont think it's as far fetched as his other recent predictions. They did it with AC/DC Luci so why not Batman to drive more sales? Could see a bump in sales if they coupled a new art release along with updated code.
I think Franchi would jump at the chance to revisit it since he was so rushed the first time.
If they ran out of the current playfields, plastics, translites, etc and had to order new ones the only new cost would be however much Franchi charges to do a refresh.
Since he's such a huge Batman fan, he might do it on the cheap just cuz he wants it to look as detailed as his more recent games.
The updated art, IMO, wold just be the decals on the machine. I can't see Stern doing a new playfield for batman. The only difference on the playfield for the AC/DC Luci version was the lower playfield. Game of Thrones did have different playfields for all 3 versions.
From what I can tell, it doesn't seem like Stern needs to refresh the art on this game. It seems to be selling pretty well. If anything, I can see the license being extended to make up for the lackluster sales when it was first released.
Quoted from MadPole:I just got my BM66 on Friday. I ordered the full Cliffy set. All have been installed, with the exception of the Penguin Cliffy. It looks like it's going to be a be-yach to install.
Takes 15 minutes from start to finish.
The metal on top of the scoop doesn't need to be fully removed. Just loosen it up enough and the cliffy will slide right underneath.
Can't believe it's last call already.
I figured since this game slowly got popular, that the title would stay in production longer.
All I can say, is anyone who is on the fence for this game...better hurry up and buy it. This is one of the few games that should be bolted to the floor.
Quoted from JMCFAN:How difficult is it to remove the playfield..? Never done it...
Easy.
Unplug 1 cat 5 wire and 2 molex connectors.
You’ll need to cut the zip ties holding the cat 5 wire.
Quoted from WizardsCastle:Still confused about how to really rack up the big scores. My strategy has been Mad Hatter in season 1, then Tut in season 3, and then I can replay and save progress going forward. I complete Freeze in season 2 and then do one of the wizard modes.
I was a couple shots away from starting another minor villain wizard mode, yet my score was only 5.7 B!
How do you guys get 50+ billion???
I go freeze first, then mad hatter, then tut.
The key to putting up scores in billions? Need to play for like 45 minutes. When I put up 244 billion, it was a 45 minute game.
Quoted from Jediturtle:I put in two sets tonight (see the BK:SOR thread for those pics). Was the first time I have done it.
I did BK first, and honestly made it harder on myself than I needed to. I removed the playfield (which is crazy easy with the Spike). First one I did the wet method, spraying the sticky side down with Windex. Wish I wouldn't have. It honestly slid around too much...maybe I used too much or something. It took forever to get it positioned just right and then squish enough Windex out for it to stick without it sliding more. Pain in the butt. For the other side, I just peeled back and cut off a few inches of backing. I used the bolt hole to line it up, and made sure it stayed straight along the top edge. Just sticking it down lightly in one area allowed me to pull it off and reposition pretty easily. Once it was lined up well, I stuck that back end down better, then peeled off the rest and worked my way to the front carefully. They are nice and thick, so I had no issues with bubbles or creases. Went on easy.
Did BM66 next. This time I didn't bother taking out the playfield. For the first side, I pulled the pf forward on the rails, and lined up the back end few inches similar to what I did on BK. I left the the rest hang and super carefully flipped up the playfield. From there I could peel off the rest of the backing and work my way forward again. The second side I just left the pf up. I peeled off about half the backing, from the back end to just past where the playfield stood. Then just simply slid it carefully between the pf and the wall, lined it up in the back (slightly tight squeeze behind the pf, but not bad) like usual, and was extra careful to keep everything straight. Once that was down good, I peeled off the front half and again slowly worked my way forward. I was a little worried about the area I couldn't get to because of the pf, but again the blades are thick enough that it didn't wrinkle or get crooked over that couple inches. Next time I do it, I will most likely do it again this way.
The first one I did, with the pf removal and Windex easily took longer than the other three did. Having the pf out definitely made it easier to just eyeball it, but wasn't worth the extra time or hassle. Not to mention how careful I had to be getting it back in, not wanting to wreck the pf or the blades. If I had someone home to help, it would have been much easier lifting in and out. But if you are careful, taking it out really isn't necessary.
Quoted from Navystan:This might have been posted earlier. I noticed the ball scoop is getting a beating. Anyone address this with any mods? I also noticed its hard to find this part. In the manual, it's called the ball guide and spinner assembly.
Any ideas to keep the wear and tear to a minimum? Maybe some form a a decal or mylar?
Thanks.[quoted image]
Put a Cliffy on it.
Quoted from bicyclenut:I did this instead of buying another apron. Insider connected works great and i got to keep my volume controls
[quoted image]
That's the only way I'll do IC on a machine not designed with it in the apron.
Quoted from SkillshotExhibit:Hi all,
I'm a little late to adding Insider connected to my Batman 66. I just received the Insider kit, but have not been able to get the Arch kit. I just learned that the inside kit is not set up for Batman 66.
If anyone has the arch kit and can send me a pic of the instructions booklet page that shows what nodes are to be used, that would be a huge help.
Or if anyone can just tell me, what node, what kind of cable and what kind of splitter do I need.
Thanks a million!
I’d put the reader in the coin door and run the Ethernet to the back box.
Quoted from bicyclenut:this is what I did...Once you setup the "Home team" you really dont need to QR reader unless you have friends come over and scan in.[quoted image]
The newer games, the QR reader looks fine in the apron. I don’t like converting the older ones over.
Quoted from chaz009:So I pulled off the tape for the switch. The metal tab (that goes in the scoop) instantly fell off when starting to peel off the tape (see pic). I then noticed a big chunk of plastic of the switch was missing. Finally as I took the tape off I saw the wire had broken off inside the tape.
My question is, if you were the buyer of this machine, how upset would you be? I see the electrical tape to be a bandaid to sell the machine. It DID work fine when I bought it for a few games. Would you chalk it up to buyer beware or should they be accountable for this?
I have made over 25 trades/buys/sales I’ve never dealt with anything like this. Yes, it’s a cheap part but I have to wait weeks for it come to me plus $20 shipping (Canada). Plus I’m not confident in my soldering abilities and might have to pay someone to fix this for me.
Check out the pics. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Should take you 30 seconds to learn how to solder.
The metal tab, put the soldering tip on one side, then apply solder to the other side. It will flow on the metal. Then pull both away. Make sure the side that is getting the solder is facing up.
Then on the wire, if it needs solder, put tip on exposed wire and touch the wire with the solder. It will flow. Then pull both away.
Then repeat step one exactly the same way, instead of adding solder, once it melts just stick the wire in and hold in place for a couple seconds after you pull the tip away.
Use the old switch to practice.
When you order the switch, order some switches and other parts that are known to break. Nice to have on hand.
Quoted from JStoltz:I believe you hold the left flipper in and then press the right flipper to cycle between the normal major villain modes and the “season 3 alternate” villain modes.
Press and hold left flipper, press right flipper to cycle through the current major villain’s two modes. Release the left flipper and push/hold it again to move to the next major villain, then push the right flipper to cycle through that villain’s modes.
It’s something like that, maybe slightly different. Just fiddle with combinations of the flipper buttons if the above doesn’t work. Gotta do it before the ball leaves the shooter lane and I think while no major villain mode is active.
I thought it was the lockdown bar button.
Well, there’s not much to choose from in term of buttons.
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:Hey everyone! Hopefully I'll be picking up a BM66 this weekend. I'm wanting to add Insider Connected on the coin door. Pinballlife.com says the door relocation kit won't work on BM66? Anyone know why not? I know I've seen this machine with insider installed. Thanks!!
You don't need the scanner.
Get the wifi thingy and micro sd card. Get a long enough ethernet cable to plug into a different game's scanner and just put your machine on home team.
I have batman 66, deadpool, guardians, black knight, jurassic park, Elvira, Beatles, Aerosmith, avengers, Black knight, Star Wars, and Mando all on insider connected without any installed reader thingy. They all automatically update as well.
Quoted from Mattyk:Thanks that makes sense. But what if you complete two villains in season one? Is there a way to know which ones you completed?
I don’t think so.
Are you trying to complete 2 in the same season before playing the multiball?
Quoted from Mattyk:I guess that wouldn’t be the best strategy. I am having a tough time completing the minor villains. Just a ton of shots required.
I always go for freeze first. Then I go for bookworm (the one that keep minor villains for rest of game).
With the timers frozen, it makes it easy to complete the minor villains.
Quoted from TonyScoots:I always go for bookworm first to get the 2x multiplier then I go for freeze that way it locks the 2x in forever plus time
How does bookworm get the 2X multiplier? I thought that was only tut.
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:Got my armor back from the powder coaters, changed the head T moulding, and installed an LE speaker kit from pinball life. I was worried it might be too much purple, but I couldn't be happier with the end result.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Where did you get the purple around the speakers?
Quoted from viper001:Finally got a couple of mods installed on my game before the Thanksgiving guests showed up. For the record my game has been running the latest software since the day after they released it without any issues and the game got a lot of plays yesterday so it must not be every unit that is having the problem folks are describing. FYI
[quoted image]
Where did you get the topper?
