So much for everything working fine.

Batmobile keeps falling off so I took it off and will fix it another day.

After about 10 games the right flipper died.

All fixed. A wire needed soldering to the coil lug. Don't know how it lasted 10 games before falling off it was such a nasty solder job.

Since the update to .69 the magnet sometimes grabs the ball and won't let it go. I have to take the glass off to move it or turn the game off. Anyone have any idea how to stop it?

Apparently we've already been told the call outs will be one of the last things done but they are coming.

One of the guys on Aussie Arcade asked (nicely) about when new code and got this reply.

Hello,
I received your email asking about the status of Batman code. As we attempted to do releases every 2 weeks it became clear to us that the types of features that could be released every 2 weeks would be minor and the complaint would then be about the lack of significant* impact of those features. This means that the work required to complete bigger features requires more development and testing time than a 2 week duration will allow.

In addition it is not uncommon to discover bugs related to the new code or how it interacts with the existing code during testing, which in turn regresses the release for fixing and re-testing.

Lyman and I are personally committed to delivering a product worthy of the legacy of games that we have created thru the years. To this end he is working on the game full time and will remain so until the game is done to our satisfaction. This particular game requires significant effort due to the breadth of material available in the Batman 66 theme. We have every intention of delivering on the promise of a great game.

We are very close to doing the next releases which contains many of the features that the community has been asking for including substantially more video, speech, sounds and more evolved rules and play events.

Thank you for your patience.

This is not just a Batman code problem - see all the complaints about SW code - but a Stern problem. They have shown they pretty much have no commitment to any game that isn't actively on the line. That has been a workable approach for years, but, with many realizing the emperor has fewer and fewer clothes, that may be coming to an end sooner than Stern thinks.
How many non-operators are going to continue to buy games if they have to worry that code may never be finished, cabinets may not stay together, playfield clear and ghosting issues may be permanent issues, game specific node boards may not be supported in a few years? As a buyer, all of those things get harder to swallow as costs go up while games get cheapened and designs get sparser.
Lack of communication is what will eventually doom Stern. Some good faith non-marketing BS information on Batman would go a long way to showing Stern's end point consumers that they (a) understand that and (b) care enough to change.

Yet we keep on buying them, knowing all that.

Stern should pamper customers who spend this kind on money on their games but they cant even be bothered with some of the most basic types of communications that were described in the prevoius post.
It appeared there Stern was on the right track with the whole "commissioner gordon" email sign up sheet thing that came with the game. I only got one email update via that and then nothing.
I thought I read that it was easier for companies to retain and cater to loyal repeat customers than to recruit new ones. Maybe thats not the case in the the 8K+ LE pinball market.
I still like their games and want them to thrive but I wont be a beta tester on future releases.

Unfortunately, we don't get that luxury here. Can't wait and see and buy a used LE when someone moves it on.

We only get 2 LE's of each game here and if you want one you have to get in quick.

I like the Wolverine toy that comes with the game and have not seen a replacement toy that I like better and the mod looks so sloppy on most I have seen. Also can’t se why anyone bothered to do it. It makes an easy shot harder but another hard shot easier. I never had a problem with the beast shot anyway, sure it a tight shot but nowhere near impossible. Never had the problem some had with their original Wolverine either. I have played a game with the mod on and I just prefer the way it came.

multi-part storylines. After each part, the Penguin VUK will light
for Super Jackpot, which allows the player to either quit out of the
mode or continue to the end. Scores increase by 1x each stage.
- Implemented a setting that allows the user to turn on/off major villain
mode collect/continue during multiball.
- Added topper light effects to the parts of the game where Batman and
Robin are in the Batmobile.
- Added an adjustment to allow or deny gadget use to hurry-ups
(cliffhangers). Added additional shots for gadgets (GADGET TARGETS).
Removed gadget use for super jackpot and collect/continue.
- Removed batcave sequence timer.
- Added video clips, sounds, light effects, and speech.
- Added custom speech from Adam West and Burt Ward.
- Batphone hurry-up now handled as choreography (stack w/ super skill
shot, tilt warning, etc.).
- Award major villain shot on penguin VUK before super jackpot or
collect/continue.
- RGB arrow (blue) would be lit to indicate batturn start when the
turntable was facing in a direction where batturn could not start.
This has been corrected.
- Reset batcave targets at the start of a new major villain mode.
- Implemented light lock difficulty for main multiball.
EXTRA EASY = ONE TARGET LIGHTS ALL LOCKS.
EASY = ONE TARGET LIGHTS ONE LOCK, WITH STACKING.
MEDIUM = ONE TARGET LIGHTS ONE LOCK, NO STACKING.

- Catwoman and penguin modes were not canceling the batcave sequence
after the first mode shot was made. This has been corrected.
- Fixed an issue where the penguin mode was leaving the turntable lit
when the super jackpot was lit.
- Pop bumpers were scoring twice. This has been corrected.
- Batcave sequence and police headquarters take priority over primary
shots for major villains.
- Added villain vision effects.
- Added Instant Info screens for Gadgets, Pop Bumpers, Combos.
- Added pricing text to player scores screen at game over (compensate for
the absence of a pricing card).
- Changed dot matrix emulation colors to yellow.
- Added different Bat-Vehicles for higher level combos (bottom lanes
advance combo levels).
- Got rid of the delay that happens when the mystery effect first runs
from power-up.
- Reworked tournament standings display effects for LCD.
- Rework ball search, device malfunction, pinball missing display effects
for LCD.
- Added correct information for multiball multiplier.
- Added rules to pre-batcave sequence (gordon target hit before making
the first shot in a major villain mode):
+2x bonus for each target hit.
+1x multiball multiplier when completed.
- Fixed coin debounce times for DBV.
- Spaced out and eventually terminated the "player X, you're up" speech
calls.
- Added info for pop bumper target.
- Added adjustment for bottom lane completions for next combo level.
- Remove additional hits for pop bumper target (one target hit increases
the pop bumper values).
- Replaced riddler/joker clips in attract mode with a clips that does not
have them talking.
- Batphone hurry-up background display effect would always play the Alfred
intro, even if it had already been played. This has been corrected.
- Fixed a bug in the auto-percentaged extra ball module that would
sometimes set the extra ball value (combos, major villains) to an out
of range value.
- Added Batgirl animated intro to attract mode. This is displayed whenever
Batgirl is seen anywhere in the previously played game (Villain Escape).
- Added 2x major villain mode scores for completing the Batcave sequence
(Penguin VUK -> Left Loop (Orange Arrows) before making the first shot
in a major villain mode).
- Batcave sequence combo shot is now timed.
- Fixed issues with villain vision backgrounds and game over (tilt showing
at game over).
- Fixed issues with the villain vision effect system that was causing
some effects to not run or hang around for too long.
- Added episode-specific batphone hurry-up video clips.
- Corrected word Umbrella in artwork.
- Fixed a bug with the mystery speech that was causing some speech to be
requested when it should not have been.
- Added ball save and outlane drain speech.
- Reworked the batphone hurry-up so the hurry-up clips are retrieved
from the individual episodes.
- Blink shot multiplier target lamp to indicate the number of shots
remaining.
- Restart short plunge skill shot if ball returns to the shooter lane.
- Skill shot is now not started if the super skill shot is running.
- Reworked attract mode HSTD displays.
- Reworked the attract mode custom message.
- Replaced sounds for extra ball.
- Implemented a short version of extra ball that runs during multiball.
- Implemented lock out of completed villains for super skill shot
(adjustment).

Installed the Mod Couples Atomic Pile and Spinner kit s today. What a great improvement. Just got the Speaker Lighting kit to go but it looks a bit more difficult and looks like it might take a lot more time so I might wait until next week when I can get someone over to help with it. Cant wait, its going to look great.

I’m just playing right now and when I’m going to arrest a villain I choose the Left Flipper (I like to collect always, never continue) but nobody gets arrested and the game keeps normal, everything besides that it is normal, I did a Multiball, Bat-turn, finally saw a new Batmobile scene with sound, Gadgets, Ball Saved, Locked, everything fine, but when I have the Flipper’s choice... it is not arresting the villain at all, so, it was a change about that with the last update?

The others can be big scorers but Penguin is the best.

I have always had trouble registering hits to the crane but lately I can smack it hard and it still won’t register. Is there a way to fix this and make it a bit more sensitive. Any help appreciated.

Yes they are lined up. In test, it registers but have to move it a lot. In play I smack it as hard as possible and it feels like I need a cannon to get it to register.

Mine is too. From what I can tell it’s not a sensitivity issue. You have to hit the ball hard enough to make it register against the side. We took it off and cleaned the metal with a file so it would register better but it’s a big hole and you need to hit it hard. When we have time, we will make the hole smaller by putting some king of metal sleeve in so the ball doesn’t have to travel far to register.

In the case of BM66, I would say:
- skill shot - launch the ball when all arrows are lit (people like skill shots!)
- if you hit any of these coloured shots twice (point to the 4 shots) the turntable moves around and you can hit it to start your mode.
- then hit the flashing shots.
- you can hit these targets here to light your locks
- you get the ball up the right side to lock a ball
That’s all anyone needs to know to get underway.
You can get a great score just doing these things.
