I've been looking at this game with curiosity since it launched. Played a few games on an early code premium, and first impressions were that it felt a bit naked/cheap for the price, and gameplay/code was lackluster.

But since Lyman started working his magic, some of the recent YouTube videos are making this game look freaking awesome! Definitely now on my radar!

Can someone who has made it deep into the game tell me a bit about the wizard modes. How many are there? How difficult is it to finish the main wizard?

Also, would like to know how owners feel about the overall build quality of the game.

Thanks!

Couple questions to owners. I have a friend who mentioned that the early games suffered from some really noticeable dimpling. I know, I know... All games dimple (or they don't if you're on the other side of that argument) but was there a known issue with BM66?

Also, I heard there were some issues that are being ironed out in newer games coming out of production. Maybe something about a ramp?

Curious to know if there were issues with older games, as I'm considering buying a previously owned Premium, and want to know what I might expect or look for when shopping.

Thanks

Quoted from jfh:

There were certainly playfield issues with some games early in production. Haven’t heard anything on that in a long time, so maybe it’s been addressed. However it’s pretty clear that Stern playfields in recent years are noticeably softer than those 4-5 years ago. I decided when I got the game I was going to put on a playfield protector and not worry about it. Never used one before but love it.
The production issues that have been fixed in new Premiums:
- Batmobile now riveted to the mini turntable *
- left ramp fix kit and Batgirl plastic ball deflector installed *
- node board fixes to avoid vibration damage *
- Catwoman board wire redressed to minimize interference with left orbit
- heavier duty cabinet corner brace plates (similar to old WMS ones) installed
The ones indicated with * are available from Stern as fix kits.
The other common problem was the position of the left pad on the left ramp entrance. Don’t know if that has been changed in production but it’s a trivial change.

Appreciate you taking the time to send me all of that.

I was considering buying one on the resale market, but maybe knowing all of this, I'd be better off looking at NIB.

Have the soft/dimpling pf issues been addressed?

And what is the atomic pile? Is that a mod, or some changes they made to the turntable?

Also, I'm curious to know if this is a longer or shorter playing game. And what other game(s) you would say that this game feels and plays like in respect to flow and code.

Anyone know of any distributors that might still have an LE or SLE? I know it's a long shot.

Or if anyone in Canada has one they'd be willing to sell, please get in touch.

How many multi balls are there in this game?

I played it a few times on very early code, and I don't think I saw many MBs.

Has that changed?

I find games with multiple MB modes just tend to be better family friendly games.

Played a few games at a friend's place yesterday. This game is seriously fun to shoot!

Looks like I'm dumping my TWD to make room for this one

Anyone know roughly how long Stern is going to have this one in production?

#12326 5 years ago
Quoted from jfh:

Not aware of any further build adjustments to be made on the line other than what has already been done. Us LE/SLE guys were the guinea pigs.
Later builds may also have the refreshed node boards for nodes 8 and 9 - not clear if that was ever an official change - but if they don’t the fix kits should already be installed. Any Premium built after spring last year should have it all and I expect the March run to have the latest code.
Go get yourself a NIB game, good citizen of Gotham!

Planning to get one of these shortly. My distributor has games with a build date of November 2018.

Wondering if it would have all the fixes in place, and also the signed card?

Anyone know?

Quoted from Budman:

I am debating installing a playfield protector ( from Playfield Protectors) on mine arriving in March. I have never done it and am not very handy. Is it a difficult task? I couldn’t find a “how to video” on YouTube.

You essentially have to remove everything from the upper side of the pf.

Definitely something that requires some skill and planning.

I personally wouldn't want to do it. I understand that benefit of it, but I'd rather not take a new game apart, and I don't like changing the feel of the game, even if ever so slightly.

I've never been in a thread so much for a game that I don't even own haha.

Seriously though this game has really intrigued me since the code got reworked. The theme is a dream for me as I grew up on this stuff and I like the idea that it's some good light-hearted family fun.

And how can you go wrong with a Lyman code!

I really need to decide what game I'm going to sell so I can get this one!

#12373 5 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

That won’t be easy as you have a mighty fine collection of fun titles but you won’t be wrong on BM66. A top game in our collection. If you asked for a vote your Walking Dead Pro would be the low hanging fruit in my opinion. Good luck with Your decision.

TWD and I have such a love/hate relationship, but I haven't reached LMS yet (been close a couple times).

I'd moreso let this one go because I have young children.

Quoted from brett:

Easy decision, you have two MM. keep the best condition one, and get a BM66.

My remake is already spoken for
