Quoted from pghpinfan:

I’ve seen a few games modded to have a Batmobile and a Bat boat. What size/scale are you all using and how best it mount them to the playfield?

I used the Hot Wheels Classic TV series Batmobile & Batboat, bought them off of eBay, plus I am using The Mod Couple Universal Plate Mod Kit!

(Pic of mod was taken before I tightened down the nuts holding the mod)

Quoted from docquest:

he only thing missing from 100% total theme integration is the use of the Nelson Riddle music. The iconic Neal Hefti main theme is there which is great but Nelson Riddle did all the other the music thst was in the show. He had unique theme music for each of the main villains and many of the minor villains which would have been great in the game. The generic "jazzy" music in the game is OK but Nelson Riddle's music would be so much better.

So true.
I was listening to this tonight.

Anyone have any idea of the value of a Batman LE translite? I have a spare and willing to trade something for it. Problem is I have an idea of the value of items I want but no idea what it could be worth.

Thanks Martin

They’re 1/50 scale Batman 66 Hotwheels that fit the Mod Couple plate. You can find them on eBay from various sellers.

The sad thing is the music is really great on that but the whole thing is only about 24 minutes long and only covers the first 4 episodes that were produced. Maybe someday we'll get a collector set with all the music from the series.

That and it also has the dialogue in it, rather than just the music. I guess the only thing that we can hope for is that there are original soundtrack recordings sitting in a vault somewhere waiting to be discovered.

Listing this for new Pinside member CARLB3 since he hasn't figured out how to make a post yet. LOL
States his BB66 went into ball search and threw a Node 9 error code. After he found and put all the balls in. It now turns on with no upper playfield lights and bat phone not spinning. Lets get CARLB3 active on Pinside and give him some advise. I don't know a lot about the Spike games so couldn't help.

Re-installed Stern original Atomic Pile. Must say after having the mod couple Atomic Pile (which is okay for a 3D printed item) on it for over 2 years, forgot how good Stern’s looks and lights up much brighter, fits the look of the Batmobile spinner and the red glows quite well depicting an atomic reactor. Hadn’t noticed the lid/top of the Batpile is metal, with a metal signage. The glow from it is amazing and fits the motif of the game much better. If an airball ever hits it, it just rolls off without issue. The mid part of the Atomic Reactor pulses white/yellowish. Of course this is only my opinion and I realize some of you like the modcouple pile better, which is good too. What a game Batman 66 is and love how it shoots with such impressive features like the turntable. Gary Stern was right, it is a very expensive build for Stern to manufacture.

Gonna have to disagree on the Atomic Pile. The Stern version is fine and brighter but, as a big fan of the series, just doesn’t work for me.

Sadly I'd suggest that's another node board that bit the dust. If I had an arcade with every Stern pinball in it, how much would I spend per year on replacing node boards? I have a GB and a BM66. In ~3 years, between them, they have managed to pop 4 node boards, including the GB CPU board. Expensive replacements too, considering the parts on the board.

Yes, its definitely truer to the series and if it was molded, might feel differently. It is a nice mod for sure.

Once modded as Thunderbird says it's certainly as bright as sterns if not brighter

#17469 2 years ago

oh my./ Not good. But These games are fun as hell. Hard to Get rid of them due to just constant board failures.. They should Now come with extras in the goodie bags as much as these games are now costing . 8 k almost for a pro now . Should get an Extra for each for that price

How long was wait on replacement sent /bought

#17470 2 years ago

I replaced the LED flasher provided in the Mod Couple's Atomic Pile with the brighter stock Stern LED flasher, and as shown in Sutol's pic, the flash of light coming from the yellow portion of the Atomic Pile was quite intense. I took some white translucent paper and I lined the inside of the yellow portion of the Atomic Pile with enough pieces to tone it down as to not cause retinal burns, LOL.

The new code supports it. Your distributor should have the retrofit kits in stock or should be getting some shortly. I recently upgraded my Munsters, Jurassic Park and Mandalorian with IC. Install was fairly easy and straightforward. Had to wait until the latest code drop before Mando worked but they all work well. They fit in the corner one your existing apron you will just remove the plastic on whatever side the kit is for. Mine were all on the right except my new Batman 66 is on the left so its possible that kit is slightly different and hasn't been made yet.

I heard the Batman IC Kits will be available in the fall, in the meantime I guess I will just buy a retrofit kit and use the coin door method

Yeah, that's what I'm doing (the coin door scanner mount).

Where do you plug the cable into? I have been using the plug in the backbox that my topper goes to for IC, however I believe you use a splitter and connect in somewhere under the playfield. I have the splitter, I just don’t know where to tie into. Does anyone have pictures of the split and where it connects to under the playfield?

#17480 2 years ago
Quoted from Izzy24:

I personally haven't installed it yet, as I'm waiting for Pinsider "Gotfrogs" IC door mount kit to arrive. In addition to that, I may have to buy a 2 into 1 cable adapter in order to make an empty port to use for the IC. This is just going from memory of what I've read in the Insider Connected thread. If anyone who has installed this on a BM66 can chime in, I could use the pics too.

Open ethernet port on mini LCD works on Batman or port on underside upper left corner, see photo. But Batman has the turning table mech, where ethernet cable has to work in conjunction with spinning table and not get tangled up. So the best solution for Batman is using a splitter at the end of node board 8. Only issue there is, plugging a fat ethernet 8pin splitter in is too wide and puts pressure on adjacent ethernet port and flexes the board above way too much to possibly break it in the future.
Solution:
1. Buy 8pin (8P8C) RJ45 ethernet splitter (see photo) (or order all sided female splitter from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Splitter-Aoiutrn-Connector-Ethernet-Extender/dp/B09BDT2VXF/ref=sr_1_5)
2. Purchase 8pin (8P8C) coupler to hook into 8pin ethernet splitter (see photo)
3. Hook .5m or smaller ethernet cable to splitter
4. Remove ethernet cable located at node board 8 and install ethernet splitter assembly into that port. Insert removed ethernet cable and host camera cable both into ethernet splitter and you’re off to the Batcave making Bat66 achievements or SW universe. The same setup works for Star Wars and the other 2 games that have this issue.

Seeing the recent high scoring posts. I’m frustrated. I find the game extraordinarily hard to play. The flipper angle puts weird levels of English and spin on the ball. Nothing is ever predictable. And the ball just drains. Side drains. Center drains.

I enjoy the theme and strategy, but I am losing the fun factor when 80% of the games are 5 million or less.

This is part rant and part wondering if others feel this way or if I’m just pathetic at pinball.

Move the out lane posts all the way in and set it to 5 ball. Then flip away. This should make it feel like you can progress a little better as you get the feel for the game.

Edit: Crank down slingshot power. Less side drains that way.

See, I'm the opposite. I like the punishment. After having certain games that I can dominate at anytime, it's refreshing to have a challenging game like this. I love this game!

I've noticed after getting a Mandalorian Premium and playing that a bunch, if I switch back over to Batman 66 it feels MUCH easier by comparison. It sounds like most of your grief is coming from drains-- I'd suggest (like others have) to lower your outlane posts if they're not already in the lowest position (1/4" deep well socket will make this much easier for you) and also to look up a couple videos on nudging techniques to see if there's anything you could do better.

Playing Mando really taught me the necessity of anticipating and nudging those outlane drains, and nudge/slap saving the center drains when they happen.

Also keep in mind the scores on Batman go up pretty exponentially due to the multipliers and lucrative late-game modes, so the crazy numbers you see can be a little misleading.

#17492 2 years ago

Thanks to everyone who replied--except for Nightmare, the apparent sadomasochist!

#17493 2 years ago

Try putting it in switch test and practice all the shots. This really helped me. Put a towel in the open trough and shoot away!

I noticed the same thing with my Mando pro. I stepped away from BM66 for several months (like turned it on 2-3 times in 5 months). I've been playing my Mando pro pretty much all the time because frankly I want to get rid of it but feel obligated to try to get as deep as possible into the game. Last weekend I went back to BM66 and thought it seemed easier to make the shots, a couple games in and I was getting close to 1 billion.

BM66 was the first pin my family bought because it was Catwoman themed. I don't think we realized how great of a game it is at the time. Mando is a VERY repetitive pin... do these 5 missions... do these 3 encounters... Not a lot of variety in the way the game progresses every game. With BM66 the games really seem to progress in different directions game to game. Love it, never getting rid of it.

That's the genius of Lymans code. I like that his later Stern games seem to have more "width" than depth.

I like that level of variety with Elvira as well. I can play a game just going for Gappa, or just collecting all the dead heads, or doing all the haunts, or just collecting all the junk in the trunk. Too bad I'm not good enough to accomplish all of those things in just 3 balls.

First question I have is: are you using stern stock rubber or silicon flipper bands? Sounds like your using silicon, hence strong spinning. I too did not like how it played till I went back to stock rubber, now it plays as intended and a dream shooter, with only punishing drains from bad shots. Replace everything back to Stern stock rubber and enjoy your game, if that’s the case.
