If you bought the numbered bluray boxset edition of the TV show, it included a subset of the 66 trading cards.

Burt Ward is gonna be at Terrificon in CT this weekend along with Lee Meriweather (catwoman from 1966 film). I might try and go since its only 1 hour away for me and supposedly this is the first time (so the ad claims) the batboat, batmobile, batcycle, and batcopter will be together at a single show.

When I brought my LE to a comicon earlier this year I took the Adam West card from my LE machine and brought it to his table and he charged me $120 to sign it. It ended up being a waste of money since Later in the show he came and played my game. After I showed him how the modes worked he signed my apron for free.

If you want me to try and get a card signed for you let me know and we can try and make it happen. Celebrities seem to change the price of their signatures from show to show by gauging what they can get away with. With Burt's I would expect it to be $100 plus or minus $40.

I like how Stern did the apron on the game so you can easily swap cards in/out and change from portrait to landscape mode.
This way if you got a card you didn't like you can easily swap it out for another one.

I think the distro is the best place to start......

I think the early code (and higher price) are keeping sale low. I remember seeing one of the distributors putting something along the lines of "new updated code coming soon" in one of their ebay listings for the game back in the spring.

From a purely business standpoint it would make sense for Stern to not relase batman66 code until they are all caught up on Star Wars orders and before the next new game hits the line. That way when there is a lull in production they could release the code to much fanfare and get fresh premiums built to ride the momentum the new code creates.

Didnt Stern have some kind of clause about buyers not being allowed to sell them for 2 years. That was a bit of a joke and I dont see how they would even be allowed to enforce it.

Once the code is done I plan on using pinball browser to add some of the origianl music to the game.

Hade a good time at the Terrificon today. Lots of cool bat-stuff on display. Got to meet Burt Ward again and talk about his Batman66 SLE. He loves his game but has a problem with the crane and is wating for the service guy to fix it.

They had the batboat, batcyle sidecar, batmobile and batcopter. The batcopter and the batcycle side car were the original ones from the show the others were replicas.

I met a guy there that made a custpm batcomputer and batsignal on display. After talking a bit it turns out he's a pin head that has restored a few games over the years.

He tells me about his nearly HUO haunted house he got for $250. Seems every pinhead I meet has a story like that except me. LOL.

After a lot of wandering and asking I finally found it. After I took a pic of it I got yelled at. Apparently photos on the casino floor are a big no no.

It was a lot of fun to play. I put $20 in played for abput 20 minutes and walked away with $32.90. I was happy about that. Great comic show for those in the new england area. Will probably go next year too.

Listened to your interview with "the podcaster that shall not be named". It was a nice listen on my way tot he comic show this morning. Nice to hear someone stick up for Batman66 for a change since the game usually gets a bad rap.

Glad you like the pics. I wasn't sure if some would think I was cluttering up the thread with non pinball pics but I thought at least a few of you would like to see them.

This show claimed it would be the first show with the batcopter, batmobile, batcycle and batboat all together at once. However the batcyle was not there (just Robins sidecar) so I guess I'll have to look forward to a future show where they are all together.

I talked to the batcopter owner/pilot and he went into great detail about it's history and how he acquired it. I was amazed to hear he actually flies it to/from the shows he has it at. The reason it doesn't have the bat emblem on the front is that it makes it hard to see below when landing and taking off. He said the copter only had that painted on for filming and it was removed later. Also the big bat wings on the side made it less stable aerodynamically so for safety reasons they were removed as well. If he stops flying it and just uses it as a show piece someday he'll probably put that stuff back on.

Pinside has been a wealth of pinball information for me on technical repair help, buying/selling info, new or old game info, show info, and just a great tool to connect with other pinheads.

Sometimes people get carried away or overly passionate about their opinions but overall I still find pinside a very useful resource. I try to ignore the bad stuff and promote the good stuff. So anytime I have the opportunity to help others out I try and make the effort to pay it forward.

My LE is just like you described it. So thats probably as designed. To me it looks like both posts are intended to stop a stray air ball from settling in either corner of the apron.

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either. A little honest communication goes a long way. I dont see the downside of confirming something is coming soon or not and maybe a little tease on what new modes or features are being worked on.

Specific dates are not needed but it would be nice to know if we are talking days, weeks, months, or heaven forbid years.

Maybe with Mr Sharp in place we'll get better communication going forward.

Batman66 was my 4'th Stern NIB in the last 5 years and will be my last. I've learned my lesson. If I like a future Stern title i'll wait until the code is done (or at least appears to be complete) and buy it used.

Stern should pamper customers who spend this kind on money on their games but they cant even be bothered with some of the most basic types of communications that were described in the prevoius post.

It appeared there Stern was on the right track with the whole "commissioner gordon" email sign up sheet thing that came with the game. I only got one email update via that and then nothing.

I thought I read that it was easier for companies to retain and cater to loyal repeat customers than to recruit new ones. Maybe thats not the case in the the 8K+ LE pinball market.

I still like their games and want them to thrive but I wont be a beta tester on future releases.

Lack of communication is certainly frustrating. We know they are working on it but would it kill them to throw us a bone once in a while with a tease on what is coming or a least a vague time frame of when?

I had to have my $2K deposit in exactly a year ago this week to hold my LE spot. Back then if someone told me me the game would still be at 0.75 level code in a year I would have said you're crazy. This is Sterns flagship game celebrating 30 years in the business as well as 50 years of Batman66. It was their first foray into SLE territory for the ultra collectors, no way they would drop the ball on this one.

I think this is true. For as many loyal repeat customers thay lose there seems to be just as many new ones to take our place when the right theme comes along.

With Batman66 they probably made back all of their development costs on the game just by the LE and SLE profits alone. So any future sales of the premiums are just gravy. So what business (note I said business not ethical) motivation would they have to make the game any better than it already is? They made their money on it already why not just move onto the next money maker. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky it we get any future code drops.

Glad it made it to the other side of the pond. When I asked Burt if he plans on doing any shows in UK or Europe he said no. So you might have been waiting a while for him to show up.

Thats a great image you picked. Once you figure out a way to mount it on the apron with the Adam West card post some pics so others might get inspired.

The super simple imexpensive mod to light the riddler saucer green and the penguin scoop purple look great. I'd recommend that one to all Batman66 owners. If you dont want to make it yourself I think mezelmods.com has them.

As far as brightening the playfield up I was gonna go with some extra spot lites but decided to try the pinstadium kit instead. That will brighten up the entire playfield and also have options for UV glow flashers and also be GI controlled. I was in on the preorder for it so i should be receiving it soon.

For the speaker lights I was able to use the ones sold by pinball life. I had to enlarge the holes in the speaker light mounting bracket a little but other than that it fit fine with my.flipper fidelity upgraded speakers. I think it looks great along side the color LCD. I can take some pics of the inside of the speaker panel if people are interested.

Homemade. If there was enough interest I could make some more. Its 2 pieces of painted plastic glued together with a small magnet on the back to hold it to the grill.

There seems to be enough interest in the bat symbol speaker grill mod so I'll go ahead and order some parts to make more. Will probably take a week or two to get the laser cut plastics made. I will post on update when they are ready.

I would love a code drop by Expo. However, if the code is still buggy or not finished then they shouldn't release it just because Expo is going on.

If they dont release by Expo a lot of us will be disappointed but I dont think Stern is too worried about us making a "big stink" about it at the show.

If its not released by Expo I would imagine someone at the Stern presentation would ask where the BM66 code is. Gary or George will give the same thing they've already said many times: "We are hard at work on new code, it has new exciting features and modes, we are committed to finishing the game and it will be coming out soon".

Then they will show the next shiny new game (Guardians of the Galaxy?) And everyone will forget about Batman66 and jump over each other to order the new game.

I was about to post something very similar. I agree that BM66 is overpriced but at the same time the BOM on it is definitely higher than a recent Stern pro.

The crane mech was streamlined a bit from BDK to BM66 but its still quite a complicated mechanism. Also the rotisserie has a lot going on with it as well with the physical ball lock, batcomputers, mini LCD, batmobile spinning platform, atomic pile, batphone toy and targets. Also throw in the center playfield magnet and custom callouts by Adam and Burt (not cheap), cpntrolled diverter gate, spinner, lock down bar gadget button, playfield slide supports, steel ramps and wireforms, VUK, main LCD, 20 standup targets. Plus don't forget Joe Kaminkows piece of the profit pie for the BM66 license. No way this is same cost as a regular pro model game.

Its kinda like people originally saying TNA should be a cheap game to build. Once you look under the playfield and see all thats there you realize its not as simple electrically or mechanically as it looks at first glance.

Saying BM66 is same manuf cost as aero pro or TWD pro is just incorrect.

I was not happy with the lack of focus on it. With the location I had it was just too fuzzy to look decent. I might just end up getting the official Stern version.

I've also been looking at the "rotating" red beacon on the LE/SLE toppers. Why settle for just 10 LED's when you can have 108 LED's! I'll post some pics soon when its fully operational.

Finished most of the play field and powder work. Even did the apron although it barely shows...
Pretty happy with it.

Looks great! Did you do a custom paint job on you building mod on the back board?

The bat phone under the cake glass looks so much better than the big dog chew toy phone that came with the game.

I checked the reason and it was the electrical cables including 2 in diagonal(I was assuming that the Mod was made knowing that, but no. (Fig 3)
To be able to place it well, I had to cut the left top corner, front left corner, one of the diagonal in the same left side, and 2 cuts in the left bottom.
I told my Brother to wait till Sunday to see if his crane cables are same as mine, if he decides to cut the Mod I will post pics Doc.

Thanks for the info and the pics! I decided to get off my butt and install mine this morning. Here's how I installed it and my mini-review of it.

The crane mod I got was free from a fellow pinsider but it was an earlier version of the mod and was modified in a few ways. This version was originally taller and was cut down a little so it wouldn't protrude lower than the existing front of the crane. The current mod you can buy is the proper height and doesn't need to be cut down. The top of this one was a bit rough from being manually cut down but all of that is hidden once installed. I think my install approach could still be used with the current crane mod available at Mezelmods. Here are 2 side pics of it installed on my machine.

There are two wires (green and white) that run along the length of the crane and interfere with biasing the crane mod all the way forward. I cut the 3 cable ties holding the wires to the side of the crane and 2 more cable ties holding it to the other wires and to a plastic before going down the playfield hole near the pop bumper behind the crane. Under the playfield the white and green wires go to a 2 pin connector which you can disconnect. Once disconnected you can pull the 2 wire harness up through the playfield hole.

At the front of the crane the green wire terminates to a ground tab that is held by a screw/nut at the front of the crane. If you want to bias the crane mod right up against the front of the crane you need to rotate that ground tab.

Just loosen the nut a little bit (8mm wrench works) so you can rotate the tab 90 degrees. Then re-tighten the nut to hold it in place. you can now push the crane mod right up against the front of the crane.

I added some double side foam tape to the top of the crane mod so it would stick to the top-underside of the crane. I then ran the wire harness through the center of the mod. To ensure the mod didn't fall off over time I also added a cable tie to the front corner of the crane. There was an empty hole there so it was the perfect spot to secure it.

I added another cable tie on the back end of the crane using the existing middle hole that previously held the wire in place. This cable tie is just holding the crane mod to the crane. Its not holding the wire harness here since the wire harness at this spot is above this hole.

I added another cable tie on the last hole to hold the wire harness in place. I pulled the wire taut before tightening the cable tie so that the wire wouldn't droop into view under the crane. I then put 2 more cable ties in the same places as the previous ones were to secure the wire harness to the other wires and the plastic
just below the crane. You want to make sure you have a little slack here since the crane needs to move freely. I then ran the wire down through the playfield and reconnected it.

My approach takes a little longer to relocate the wire but I like that the crane mod is centered under the crane. If you don't move the existing wire harness the mod will still fit under the crane but it won't be quite centered. You would need to bias the mod to one side so it fits alongside the existing wire harness.

I like the extra bit of detail this mod adds to the crane and think it looks great. Since this one didn't come with the dome light cover for the top of the crane I'll have to ask Mezel if he'd sell that one separately. You can buy the crane mod from the great folks at mezelmods here:

I think Stern did a great job with the Batman66 LE/SLE topper. Of all the toppers they've done I think this one really compliments the machine. The only issue I have with it is the rotating beacon on top. To keep the design simple Stern uses 10 LED's that are lit an unlit in a way to simulate the rotating beacon on the Batmobile. It looks OK but is a bit slow for my tastes. Stern also uses white LED's which tend to make the beacon look a bit pink. If you just replace the white LED boards with Red ones its a big improvment. However that doesn't fix the rather slow rotating pattern. Here is the Stern Topper in action.

I first got the idea to replace the innards of the Stern beacon when I saw a used Rescue 911 rotating beacon at the Saratoga pinball show for just $1. I went ahead and bought it to see if I could make it work with the Stern topper. The pic below shows the Stern LED assembly which is easily removed.

The rotating Rescue 911 beacon did fit inside the Stern housing with a little trimming but the big drawback was that it was noisey. Being mechanical in nature, it mades a noticeable "whirring" type noise when turned on.

I decided to try one of the more modern "simulated" rotating beacons instead. The Wolo Hawkeye 3010-R looked like a good candidate.

It uses 108 LED's to simulate a rotating beacon and since there are no moving parts its totally silent. The pics below shows the Wolo with its 6 LED panels with 18 LED's per panel. It also has a switch that can be used to set the type of rotating pattern you want.

I was able to fit the LED portion of the Wolo inside the Stern housing. I had to space it up a bit with some standoffs so the LED's would be centered within the slots in the Stern housing. Even though there are a lot of LED's in the Wolo you will still see them distinctly if you don't diffuse the light from them.

The Wolo comes with a diffusing lens that surrounds the LED's. This lens unfortunately is way to big to fit within the Stern housing. To make it fit I had to cut the top of the lens then a cut a chunk out of its side. I then reformed it into a smaller diameter and glued it in place. You can see the glue seam in the pic below. it looks rather crude but once its in the housing it looks fine.

TO control the Wolo lights a used a great little mod called "T.I.L.T Mods basic F2S board" You can get them here:

I had Tim make me a 12V version so I could use it to to drive the 12V Wolo and not have to bother with getting 5V to Tim's board. The way the device works is you give it power and a trigger. The trigger in this case is the flashing bat logo on the topper. Whenever the topper is on that bat logo flashes and will in turn activate the Wolo. Here is the board and a pic of it installed under the Wolo.

Ironically enough as I was finishing the mod tonight I had MeTV on in the background and tonight they were playing the Batman66 False Face episode. That episode uses the "False Inflatable Batmobile" gadget which also happens to be the gadget version on my Batman66. Holy Bat-coincidence!

If Stern made the logo light all the time in a future code update you could use other topper LEDs to trigger the beacon. For example, you could used one of the LED's on top of either of the side stalks. Those probably only turn on when the beacon was meant to be on. I just picked the logo as the trigger because it was an easy location to solder an extra set of wires. Tim's mode has screw terminals so if you decide to switch the trigger source its easy to just unscrew the wires and replace them with others.

I actually like the idea of a real mechanical rotating beacon like the rescue 911 one but it was just too noisey. I still might use it if I can figure out how to make it quieter.

Maybe code is coming sooner than later. Over the last week Stern had had a couple facebook posts referencing Batman66. I wasn't sure why since it just opens the door for people to respond with "Where's the code Stern?" So maybe something us coming soon and they are trying to start putting the game back on peoples radar.

Surprisingly there are a few snarky code comments that people have left in there that Stern didn't delete. Maybe Zach has convinced his bosses to do social media the right way. Or maybe there were much worse comments that did get deleted? Who knows. Some of them are funny.

Batman66 code complaints have even made it to Frachis facebook as well where he teases his new Stern game reveal at expo. So maybe the percentage of disgruntled stern buyers is getting bigger.

"Batman Day" is an annual day promoted by DC to celebrate all things Batman. It started 4 years ago to commemorate the 75'th anniversary of his first Batman comic.

This year it was yesterday, Saturday Sept 23'rd. I was hoping Stern would use that day to maybe tease us with some more solid code update news. I guess not.

Stern uses a white pop bumper body for the atomic pile. I replaced mine with a translucent pop bumper body which allows for a brighter flash from the flasher inside of it.

If you want villain cars from the actual TV series, eaglemoss produced a few. They did a joker mobile from the surfing episode in season 3, a catmobile that eartha kit drove around in season 3, and a batmobile after penguin stole it and pimped it out to be the "bird-mobile" from season 1.

The eaglemoss cars are a little bigger (maybe 1:43 or 1:50 scale) but very detailed. Hot wheels also put out a penguin bird-mobile at one point as well.

I can measure my eaglemoss batmobile when I'm home tonight. Its a little bigger than hot wheels but def not 8-10".

Here's pic of my Eaglemoss Batmobile installed in my shooter lane area. Also some pics showing Eaglemoss Batcopter (biggest one in pics) vs Hot Wheels Batcoper (smallest one), and Hallmark Batcopter (has Batman and Robin figures in it). This gives you an idea of the scale difference between Eaglemoss and Hot Wheels vehicles.

My eaglemoss batmobile is about 120mm which is way too big. The 80mm size fits the existing spinner perfectly. You could go bigger and over hang it off the spinner but not by much before it would hit stuff. Might need to worry if ut would spin as well if ut got too heavy.

Hot wheels did have a 1:87 HO scale batmobile which should be smaller but I dont know how the detail looks compared to hot wheels version. Being smaller the spinner might spin differently than it does now.

Its all personal preference. I like the hallmark one as it has decent detail and I like the mini batman and robin in it. Thats the one I put in my game.

Congrats on the new addition! Ad you go through the game you should double check that the turntable is level with the rest of the playfield in all of its positions. Thats happened to a few if us. If its not, you could get ball hang ups on slow moving balls when enterimg the lock. Will also lead to premature wear if not flat.

Thsts what I would think as well.

IF there is a code drop coming I would think they would want it out this week. Then it would get some momentum buzz going by time expo starts.

Stern will be pretty busy getting ready for the show and tour next week so you would think they would want to get the update(s) done and out if the way this week.

The downside would be if it was buggy or had issues then it would be an embarrassing point of discussion at expo.

I really like how Lyman is linking fun elements from the series (like the emergency bat-turn and cliffhangers) into the playfield features and modes. It truly integrates the theme into the game vs other games where the theme almost seeks like an afterthought.

Anyone install a pinstadium lighting kit in their Batman66? I'm in the preorder list and finally got my shipping notification today.

I'm getting the base kit with GI control and the UV flasher option. Trying to decide which of the 8 flashers would be the best one to trigger the UV glow with.

I was originally going to add some spotlights to try and brighten up the overly dark playfield but when I heard about pinstadium that sounded like a better approach.

I'll be sure to do some before/after pics once I recieve it and get it installed.

I see 8 flashers in the game so I'm trying to decide which one would be the best one to trigger the UV glow flashers in pinstadium.

The choices are:
Left sling flasher
Right sling flasher
Bat symbol flasher in center of playfield
Crane home position flasher
Pop bumpers flasher
Bat signal on back board flasher
Top of crane flasher
Atomic pile flasher

I'm thinking the backboard batsignal flasher might be good as it goes off every now and then. Crane might be good as well if it goes off each time you smack the wrecking ball. Pops and slings might go off to much. I'll have to experiment.

That would be cool. I think Houdini has reverse flippers as well as upside down flippers. Upside down flippers are stuck in up position then when you hit the flipper button they go back to down position. Very challenging to get your shots right with that mode.

Robin did say "holy reverse polarity" in one of the episodes so they might have that soundbite in the code already.

When I was planning a Batman66 retheme I was going to have a reverse flipper mode that the joker did as a trick to you. I was thinking about adding a joker "shocking" feature. you could have Joker zap you via a mild electric shock via the lock down bar (similar to those fake joke lighters or pens that shock you). A milder method would be the flipper buttons themselves would vibrate to simulate a shock. I think there was a game from the 80's or 90's that did that but I can't remember the name. I think they called them rumble buttons?

I also thought about a frozen flipper mode caused my Mr Freeze. You have to "thaw out" by hitting the action button a bunch of times and then hit required shot before you get frozen again. Or you just call it "cat-a-tonic" mode and its works the same except instead of being frozen you are paralyzed from catwomans cat-a-tonic poison.

Can't wait to see what Lyman has in store for us.

Well I havent had it in a game I've owned yet so it will be new for me. I looked at the callouts in PBbrowser and there is the sound clip from the 60's show in the code that has robin saying "Holy Reverse Polarity". There is also another sound clip of the Burt saying the same thing that was recorded specifically for the game. So if they had him record a custom clip of it then thats a good sign that a reverse flipper mode might be in a future code update

There are also some clips of him saying "Bat Magnet Batusi". Wonder what the Batusi mode will be? The current code has an entry for "Batusi Champion".

Lets hope we finally get some of the custom sound bites in the next code drop. There are about 600-700 custom callouts from Adam and Burt and around another 800 by the narrator soundalike guy. Thats in addition to the hundreds amd hundreds of vintage sound bites lifted from the TV show.

I was thinking about replacing the ball deflector on the bottom of the batgirl plastic with something more interesting but was still functional.

I thought about adding lights to it but if i did not sure what to trigger it off since there isn't a specific insert to signal when that mode is active. I guess you could hook it to GI and have it on all the time. It wouldn't be to hard to add the light when I'm building the van.

My game was an early build so it didnt come with the ramp flap or divertor and I had go request them from Stern. Before I recieved and installed the divertor I had the ball jump onto the plastic a few times.

For those who've been collecting the Halmark Batman66 ornaments there is a new one this year of Robin. Similar to last years Catwoman ornament, its a limited edition so its only sold in stores while supplies last and is not available online. They just started selling them this week.

The Batman66 premiuns at the stern tour had 0.70 code on them. Saw the boot up screen on one of them.

Asked a stern employee about a Batman66 code update and they werent sure but thought the next release was going to be 0.90.

Im in the seminar room where Stern talk is next at 6pm. There is a Star Wars prem and LE in the back of the room. No Batman66 here.

Vendor room doesnt open until 6 so I cant check out the Batman66 games there yet.

From outside the vendor area there is a giant batman figure there (Christian Bale Dark Knight version not 66 version) on display. So I assume they are trying to highlight Batman somewhat in the vendor room.

Hard to really evaluate it at a show. Its loud and crowded there. You play a game and then have to go back in line if you want to play it again.

Definitely heard more adam and burt callouts but they were not the funny cool ones. Stuff like "ready player 1", "ball 1 locked" type of stuff. There was more variety in the video clips and a few new animations like batcopter and batgirl cycle grahics driving across LCD as you do combos (similar to the batmabile grahic driving across LCD in current code).

I didnt finish a villain to see the cliff hanger option. Someone I talked to said they did. As expected it lets you cash out the points at end of mode or continue mode for more points. Since I didn't do it I'm not sure if when you continue its still the same mode shots or something new? Didn't see a reverse flipper mode so not sure if its in there or not.

There may be more hidden in there but overall it doesnt appear to offer anything that seems significant in gameplay, looks like more tweaking and polishing without much meat.

Zach yesterday said the code on the game was a teaser release and not the official release. So I dont know if that means the relase we get will have more or less stuff than whats on the the expo games. Thats the only reason I can think of as to why they dont release whats on the machinrss here to us now.

I alos want to comment on a conversation myself and a couple other pinsiders had with Lyman at the show regarding the expo code.

First and foremost I let him know that what he has done so far (in my opinion) is the best theme integration so of any Stern machine Ive owned. Things like the bat-turn, cliff hanger continues, answering the bat phone, use of bat gadgets, use of the narrator sound alike, etc all give you that immersive theme integration that just isnt on many other games.

The theme integration aspect of the code development takes more time than the basic standard pinball rules. For example, when you battle a villain he wants to use appropriate clips from an episode with that villain that shows progression towards beating the villian as you progress through the mode. If you battle the same villain again he wants to use audio and video clips from a different episode so its not the same thing everytime.

He could have taken a quicker lazier approach of just showing generic head shots with a pow or bam over them as you do the mode but he wanted to be more detailed than that with his choice of video and audio. As I played the expo games more I noticed more of these types of changes.

I would rather he took his time thinking through how to best integrate the game rules with theme and have the modes be interesting and unique rather than just generic "chopping wood" type of feel that we have seen in other games. He said its trivial to program basic standard rules and point values for things but he doeant want to do just that for the game. He really wants each mode to have its own feel and draw you into the zany 60's world of Batman. The code thats in there so far does just that.

I asked.him about the continue mode after defeating Joker as I wasnt sure what was happeneing there. When I chose to continue Joker after intially defeating him all 6 gadget targets flashed in unison. Lyman said this was a hurry up mode he put there but the text and speech describing it as such needed to be put in still. After you start the hurry up by hitting one of the gadgets you fight he Joker again via gas bombs from your utility belt. Each shot I made showed of clip of him getting gassed. I later read someone mentioned that they could make the joker dizzy by shooting the spinner but I didnt see that part. So maybe you have a choice as to how to fight Joker when you continue his episode?

Im hoping the reason they didnt release the expo teaser code is that the code we get in the week or so has even more content and polish.

We didnt pressure Lyman for specific dates for completetion of anything because its impossible to accurately predict issues you dont know about until you see them. However he is painfully aware of everyones high expections and is doing everything he can to meet them. We will have a release in a week or so with others coming soon afterwards.

I was a little down on the code after the Stern talk at the start of expo but myself and the 2 other pinsiders all felt better about it after hearing lymans enthusiasm for the game first hand. It would be great if they had Lyman address it at the Stern talk himself so everyone else could hear it from him for themselves. Maybe a facebook chat "talk to the coder" or something similar could be tried" He really wants to make Batman66 a special game and if it takes longer than usual to do it than so be it. I think it will be worth the wait and am looking forward to upcoming code drops.

I think his intended use of the minor villains hasn't changed. If you listen to the Jack Danger stream when they first showed Batman66 gameplay you can hear lyman mention using the minor villains to affect game features. Unfortunately there were other people talking so it was hard to hear everything he was saying.

Yesterday when we talked, he repeated what he said in the fead flip stream about selecting Mr Freeze would "freeze" your timers for the rest of the ball. He starts talking about the minor villains around the 41:20 mark.

I had the exact same issue. Had to get a replacement node board. This happened to me when I installed 0.75 back in May. Stern told me I was the first that had that node board fail during update. The replacement node board had a different revision number on it so something was changed from the previous version. The only visual difference i noticed between the two was that the new LCD had nylon washers on the screws holding the LCD that were not on the original one.

You can still use the machine with that board not working but mini LCD will be dark. Hopefully you get a replacement quicker than I did. It took 7 weeks to get my replacement.

Im not sure what info they would be collecting from the audits that would be useful to finishing the remaing modes.

The part of that post I find a little weird is the line "... while also implementing player feedback that was supplied directly to the team at this years show..." what is that all about?

I didnt see anyone from Stern by the games asking opinions or having players filling out comment cards. Did anyone who played the games at the show get asked about code?

I think the outer speaker panel is same on all models (except for SLE sparkle power coat). I think there us a separate inner plate that the speaker mounts to that is different for the SLE. Speaker is mounted lower and there is no gridwork within the speaker cutout hole.

I think the minor villains won't be the same types of modes as the main villains. I think Lyman wants them more as complimentary features to the main modes. In the dead flip stream Lyman mentioned that if Mr Freeze was active your timers would be frozen for the remainder of the ball. Since Bookworm is obsessed with old books his feature might have something to do with your success on a previously completed mode. Not sure what would work well for Mad Hatter, Shame, Egghead, or King Tut.

Finally had some time to install my pin stadium kit in my Batman66 today. Very happy with the improvement. I have the GI module with the UV flasher options. I hooked the flasher circuit to the pop bumper playfield flasher.

The biggest improvement is how much brighter it looks in the upper playfield area in front of the turntable. That area is just too dark with the stock factory lighting.

The GI module also makes for a much more dramtic start to each game due to the bigger difference in light between all GI on vs off. In attract mode everything is on all nice and bright. Then when you start a game the GI goes totally dark (along with pin stadium if you have GI module option). The Batman intro jingle plays and the Batsignal is lit on the back panel as Commisioner Gordon calls the dynamic duo into service. If you installed the mini playfield Batsignal that lights up at this time as well.Then after the intro jingle finishes everything lights back up and you start the game, very cool. Here are my before and after pics.

Here a pic of the non glossy batmobile that came with my game. It also had black flames on it? Followed by a pic of the glossier one I replced it with. Its actually a hybrid because the gloosy one had blue tinted windshields so I took the clear windshield off the old flat black version and put it on the glossy one.

To mount it I used slightly longer screws and put some epoxy in the screw holes.

I talked with Scott for a while at expo and he's a great guy and did a great job with this mod. The phone app to control and tweak the color and fade effects is really impressive.

He said almost all the people who order opt to also get the flasher and GI control options with it. You dont have to add those options to get the better overall lighting but these add ons definitely add a lot to the wow factor. If I didnt get them I probably would have regretted it as I dont think they can be added later. I'll probably be adding a set of pinstadium lights to my Ash Vs Evil Dead retheme pin next.

Super quiet here. I guess everyone is holding their breath hoping for a code drop this week.

Lots of people complaining about length of code development time and insisting Lyman is being put on other projects. So from a historical perspective, I wanted to see what the time frame was from the initial code release to last release for the most recent Lyman coded Stern games.

I looked at: Batman Dark Knight, Tron, ACDC, Metallica, and Walking Dead. Here's what I learned looking at the readme files from his previous games.

BDK: 647 days
Tron: 630 days
ACDC: 854 days
Metallica: 1146 days
Walking Dead: 435 days
Batman66: 314 and counting

Average duration is 742 days or about 2 years.

From a code quality perspective Lyman games are prety much universally acclaimed but he is not know for quick development time as shown by the numbers above.

His quickest game was Walking Dead at about 1 year and 2.5 months. Metallic was longest at about 3 years.Plus keep in mind that some of those games had feature complete code before the last release.

Some have been complaining about length of time since the last BM66 code drop (153 days so far). If we look at other games it can be even longer.

Longest stretch between code drops:
BDK: 402 days
Tron: 458 days
ACDC: 384 days
Met: 423 days
Walking Dead: 178
Batman: 153 days so far

Metallica was the worst as it had several long stretches between releases:
Vers 1.22 to 1.50 - 205 days
Vers 1.63 to 1.64 - 233 days
Vers 1.64 to 1.70 - 423 days

So based on this data, the length of time on the Batman66 code isn't out of line with development time on Lyman's previous games Plus factor in that the added video assests for a Spike2 game will make it a little more complicated than the older DMD games.

Lets hope Batman66 ends up being on the shorter end of the spectrum like Walking Dead.

Some interesting data would be how long does Lyman work on code before the inital release comes out. I suspect that for Batman66 he was given a lot less time prior to first release than in his previous games.

I think this is more than was at expo just going by the read me list. I dont think cliffhangers at expo were for all the villains like they appear to be in this drop.

For those who are dubious about the accurateness of that statement rest assured its coming from Lyman not George. Lyman told us this at expo but I didnt want to publicly post it and have people hold him to it.

But now that its on the Stern Facebook page I can confirm that was the timeline he was shooting for. Thanksgiving release then an end of the year release for a feature complete game. If he sticks to that schedule it will be his fastest turnaround time from initial code release to finished code, at about 1 year. His fastest previous turnaround time was Walking Dead at 1 year and 2.5 months. Before that it was Tron and BDK both at about 1 year and 9 months. Considering the added complexity of the audio and video elements I think Lyman is doing a great job! I have no doubt he worked very hard to get to this point. Lyman if you read this thread, Thank you vey much! We appreciate your efforts!

I don't remember his exact words but it sounded like the game would be mostly done with the next 2 updates. Of course if bugs are found or scoring imbalances or loop holes are found then those would need to be addressed. He might also have new ideas that cause him to revisit it later on as well. Some of his prior games got upates 3 years after initial release.

Also as mentioned by George at the expo talk, sometimes they try things that don't work out that require them to try a different approach. So please don't being out the pitch forks if an update doesnt happen exactly on thanksgiving day or xmas day. Thats their target but in no way a guarantee. Thats probably the main reason they dont give timelines because if they are missed people freak out about it. Im happy to accept approximate dates as it lets us know what their target is at least.

I think people wouldn't get as worked up if they just had just a little more communication regarding code status. It wouldn't take much.

Remember those videos Jody used to make walking around the factory floor. I loved watching those. Doing a quick 30 second video of Lyman at the computer describing what cool new feature or mode was being worked on would go a looong way to making people feel less abandoned.

Considering the cost of the game (SLE and LE's especially) I think the customer base deserves to be a little more in the loop with code status. I was hoping thats what that commissioner gordon email system thing was going to do.

Question for LE or SLE owners. On the old code the bat logo in the center of the topper would flash during attract mode then in gameplay it would be off. With the new code mine stays on during gameplay. I ask because I was using that lamp to signal my beacon mod to turn on so now its on all the time.

I received mine. Great job on re-creating a complex design thats not only looks great but is also plug and play both electrically and physically within the game.

The mod is well made but I can confirm that it is not 100% dog proof. The package was too big for the mailbox so the mail carrier left it outside the garage door. Unfortunately the dog found it before the kids did.

Are there spare parts available?

Can anyone who bought the add on batsignal projector that goes on the topper describe the electrical hook up and take a pic of it? I think I found a low cost very effective equivalent and would like to drive it using the same signals Stern uses for theirs.

Yeah I figured the LE users might have a simpler connection since it has the same node boards as the SLE games which have the topper spotlight alreasy.

I'm assuming the Premium owners might have to use a node board which probably comes with the batsignal topper when you buy it

I'm assuming thats why the premium version is $250 and LE version is $199.

I'm working on one that could be run on the prem or LE, super bright, focusable image, and mounts via magnetic base to top or rear of backbox with a swivel mount so it can point anywhere. Trying to keep the cost around $50.

The cool part about collecting pinball is you can play them and the value is about the same. I used to have some very collectible comics but they were so valuable you didn't want to handle them or god forbid read them. Glad I sold them and got into pinball instead. Thanks it was a fun mod to make. The packaging isn't a real blister pack. Its a snap fit clamshell so you can open and close it to your hearts content with no damage.

There are a bunch of great penguin quacking/grunting/cackling type sounds in the code already so you just need to copy them and assign them to the crane sound sfx.

I really like the fixes and polish in this new update. Having instrctions on what to shoot next on the villain cliffhangers is great.

Lyman did a great job linking the shots to the video clips. For example with Catwoman, the clips show he needs to get his "Bat Claws" out to climb up the wall so to complete that you need to hit the flashing Gadgets shot. The he needs to run to the open doorway to escape the tiger so it tells you to hit the ball into the scoop hole.

I like playing quick games so its nice to be able to attack the game different non linear ways. For example I can just play a game and try to do all the Catwoman scenes. Next game I just try to go for Bat Turn as many times as possible etc. When I had Star Trek I felt all the modes were too similar so the variety just wasnt there.

Batgirl is reset until you complete the in-game specifics that make her show up on the TV screen. Unfortunately I never saw a source of just the phone by itself so you gotta buy the whole play set to get it. Amazon has it too but it's $10 more right now. It comes with a cool action figure and a bunch of gadgets though (even a Bat-Zooka!). It also includes a Shakespeare bust but its a bit small and not as nice as the other one linked above.

So you basically need the cake pan and the Shakespeare bust from the figures toy company and the phone from the batcave play set.

Then I just put a red LED in the round black base of the cake pan under the phone that lights it up quite nicely. You might be able to use the same LED stern uses it you trimmed the board its mounted on. I think my phone LED board might have actually been a RGB LED board with just the red lead hooked up. I stuck the phone and bust on via those little glue dots from the craft store. I put a really small drop of super glue on the base of the clear cake pan to hold it to the base. Be careful though as too much could make the base of the clear cover cloudy.

So I was thinking about what signals to use to trigger the topper bat signal projector I'm developing for Premium owners.

LE owners have the node boards already for the batmobile topper so there is already a separate jack with a CPU controlled on/off signal for the projector that can be used. For example it comes on during start of each villain mode when you do the Commisionner Gordon bat cave sequence.

Even if Premium owners buy the premium topper, it doesn't come with any node boards because that topper is just a static display that is always on when the game is on.

So would people be OK with the batsignal projector mod always being on when the game is on?

I tried using the existing batsignal projector signal for the upper right playfield (for the mini bat signal that's on the SLE's). All premiums owners have that connector but its on/off signal come the same times as the LE batsignal topper projector. For example it flashes during attract mode which doesn't look right for the projected batsignal. It also doesn't come on during the Commisionner batcave sequence at start of each villain mode like the LE one does.

I thought the projected signal looked best when it was steady on during attract mode.To have it go off during game play I would need tap a existing lamp that tuns off during game play which I couldn't find.

So if it bat signal projector mod was on all the time whenever the game was on would people still be interested in that?

Its been a few months but I think the LED under my original chew toy phone was an RGB one so it had solder pads ofr R, G, and B signals with just the red one used. It was too big to fit entirely under the cake pan. I think you could use a spike single red LED board (cointaker has them for a $1 or so) and trim it to just fit inside the black base. I didn't have a spike LED board so I just used a basic red LED (like pic below) with a current limiting resistor. Yes. The LE version would work using the same signal the SLE owners got and what you'd get if you bought the $200 add on from stern.

Premium is trickier because there is no signal to tap from to drive the mod. The CPU sends the on/off projector signal over the communication bus via the RJ45 cable between node boards. Since premium owners don't have the node boards there is no signal you can tap off of.

I think it would look fine on all the time. But at the same time I do like how the LE version comes on/off during game play. Just can't figure out a way to emulate that for the premium users.

I think so. Does you setup have a 4 pin keyed molex like this on the LE's? See pic below. Thats the type of connector my mod will mate with.

Never saw a Stern beacon up close so I dont know if the quality of the optics in my version will be better or not.

The projector I'm modifying is definitely low cost materials but I think it projects a decent image.

Does the board mounted under your beacon have a 3 pin connector on CN3 that has a red and yellow wire on it?

If so, I think that one is the signal to toggle the projector on and off. If you have a voltmeter it should be easy to check. It should read 5 volts dc when beacon lights and 0 volts when its off.

I ordered all my parts today so hopefully I will get everything in by the weekend to start building them.

Were you able to measure the voltage at that connector during attract mode when projector should be on and then again during gameplay when projector is off.

Can you (or anyone with a premium) confirm if there are mounting studs in the upper back of the back box? My LE had them for the node boards so I assume the premiums have them as well even though there are no node boards there. Also assuming there is an existing hole in the top of the back box for topper cables?

There was an episode where Joker was in Wayne Manor and he stumbled acoss the bat poles while Alfred was chasing him. Joker jumps onto one of the poles but Alfred quickly hits the emergency batpole elevator up switch. This makes the Joker come back up the pole before he gets down to the batcave. Alfred then keeps repeating the process so Joker repeatedly goes partway down then back up over and over again until Batman and Robin show up. Alfred to the rescue once again!

Luckily Alfred painted the poles earlier that week so the "Bruce" and "Dick" signs were not put back on the poles yet. Good timing otherwise Joker might have deduced their secret identities.

$950 thats nothing. Our old dog got a hold of some corn cobbs from the garbage and half chewed half swallowed them. That little incident cost us around $3.5k in surgeries. Turns out corn cobbs are the perfect size to lodge in the intestines and get stuck there. If any of the dogs I've ever owned were left to go wild they would be dead in a week from eating crap they shouldn't.

My batsignal projector mod is almost done. Just got my laser cut logo's in and tried them out tonight and they look great. If you have low ceilings like me or other space constraints this will be a much more flexible alternative to the Stern version.

Yelobird, the approach you described for changing the phone is basically what I did the first time I installed my mod without the cake pan. This was before I knew the cakepan existed and only found the phone from the Bat-cave playset. As Yelobird mentioned, the bat-cave playset phone is the one to get. It has the right amount of translucency to really light up well and its the perfect size for the cake pan. Although its expensive to buy that set just for the phone you also get a bunch of cool toys like Shakespeare bust, shark repellent, bat-zooka, bat-computer, bat-a-rangs,and even a 2 headed Batman/Bruce Wayne action figure!

Maybe someone with a 3D printer (looking at you Yelobird) could make a translucent bat-phone just like the one in the playset for a lot cheaper?

And I also thought about the fact that the bat-phone at Wayne manor does not have a cake pan on top of it. But my rationale is that it just looks cooler with it! If you really wanted to justify it logically you could assume Alfred saw the cake pan cover on the bat-phone in Commissioner Gordon's office and decided that having that dome keeps the bat-phone dust free and cleaner so he ended up getting one for the bat-phone in Bruce's study.

The part of the original approach I didn't like was that the Stern LED board was now mounted under the plastic instead of on the big chew toy phone above the plastic. When I attached the Stern LED board under the plastic using a nut/bolt I was worried that the ball traveling at the just the right rate of speed and maybe a little bounce might possibly nick the head of bolt or the edge of the LED board. Not sure if that would actually happen or not but pinballs with nicks in them end up destroying playfields. So once i saw the cake pan option I figured out an alternate way to light the phone up and keep everything far away from the ball.

I think I found a better way though once you add the cake pan. The phone that comes with the cake pan is glued to the top of it. Just rip it off and toss it in the garbage. It not translucent enough and it no more detailed than the larger Stern version.

The bottom of the cake pan can be popped out fairly easily using the tip of an exacto blade.

Drill a 3/16" hole right through the middle of the top. This is just big enough to tightly wedge a 5mm red LED in there. You also drill an access hole on the side of the cake pan so your wires can come out the side instead of the bottom. This way you have a nice flat bottom to attach to your plastic.

I reused the harness from the Stern LED board. You just need to wire a resistor in with it the regulate the current. Calculate the required resistor using something like this:

Most generic red LED's will have about a 2v voltage drop and run on 20ma. So if you used this LED:

You would need a 150 or higher resistor. As the resitor value goes up the LED would get a little dimmer as the current would decrease. I think I used a 200 ohm resitor when I did mine.

I disconnected the Stern LED board harness from under the turntable so it would be easier to work with on the workbench. You need to un-solder the +5v and ground from the Stern LED board and solder them to your LED/resistor. Before you solder to your LED, feed the +5v and ground wires through the hole in the side of the cake pan. Solder the +5V from the Stern wire harness to the longer leg of the LED (this is + side or anode) then solder the ground wire from the Stern harness to one end of your resistor and the other end of your resistor gets soldered to shorter length leg of the LED (minus side or cathode). you should add some electrical tape or shrink tubing on the LED leads so they don't short out to each other.

Using a little dab of super glue you can reattach the bottom of the cake pan. For the phone I use "glue dots" to glue the phone to the cakepan over the LED.

Then I use some more glue dots to attach the dome of the cake pan on top. I also use the glue dots to attached the base of the phone and the Shakespeare bust to the plastic on the turntable. The glue dots are very strong and nothing has fallen off yet. They are also removable if need be.

I decided I like the larger Shakespeare bust vs the smaller one that comes with the batcave playset. You can get the larger bust at the same place you get the cake pan for $6.

I like how Lyman actually mentions the episode numbers it the release notes and is linking them to gameplay. That Egghead episode has a huge egg fight at the end of it. Looks like Lyman is using that for the basis of the Egghead mini mode so we should see some great egg throwing action on the LCD.

The Mr Freeze episode mentioned has a death trap of dynamic due getting frozen into giant snow cones. That would be a hilarious scene to show on the LCD during that mode.

I don't know the exact model mating connector needed for a total plug and pay for your situation. But if you don't mind using something like this type of splice connector it would be able to turn on/off just like the Stern one does since you have the needed CPU controlled node boards.

I think more custom callouts have been added. I heard Robin say "Holy Outlane Drain" which I never noticed before.

I also turned on stacking to check out the "mini TV" feature. It's a lot easier to get all the villains with stacking on. In one case I had 3 villains running at the same time. It was a bit more confusing having multiple villains running simultaneously.

Love the new Egghead mode. All the video clips of the egg throwing and fighting were great. They used some type of country farm style music which doesn't have the cool retro 60's vibe like the rest of the music so I might be changing that one with Pinball Browser. In the actual TV episode they used a cool mix of "old mcdonald had a farm" and the batman theme combined. I could try and rip that from the DVD set and use that. Once the code appears to be done I'm planning on integrating some of the TV series music into the game.

Didn't get to try Freeze mode yet. Looking forward to what he does with the other 4 minor villains: Shame, Mad Hatter, Book Worm, and King Tut.

Edit: Those are the 6 minor villains drawn on the PF, so I guess that's what the minor villain modes will be.

I thought Lyman was putting the minor villians as choices for the game seasons as they appeared in the actual show.

Here are the seasons each of the minor villains appeared in:
Bookworm was in season 1
Mad Hatter was in season 1 and 2
Shame was in season 2 and 3
Mr Freeze was in season 1 and 2
Egghead was in season 2 and 3
King Tut was in season 1 and 2 and 3

But looking at that screen pic it has Mad Hatter in season 3. If he was following the TV episodes then Egghead should be a season 3 choice instead of Mad Hatter.

I loved Tut in the TV show and that Lyman has him as a choice for all 3 seasons. If you re-watch any of the Tut episodes now you'll probably notice he's a lot funnier than you would have remembered as a kid. Hopefully we'll hear some of his great lines from the show.

Interesting trivia:

Joker, Penguin, and Tut were the only villains who appeared in all 3 seasons played by the same actors.

King Tut was also one of the two villains to figure out that Bruce Wayne was actually Batman. He was about to reveal it to Comissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara but got conked on the head and lost that memory.

It has slowly been getting out of level again and I just had my first ball hang up on it yesterday.

That's right nothing is cooler than a giant Bat Signal on your Wall or ceiling when playing your Batman66 pinball game! You are the caped crusader and the when the signal is lit you must answer the call!

I finally recovered from my turkey coma to finish my Bat Signal projector mod. This mod is a plug an play kit for Batman66 Le and Premium owners. Although I designed it for my Batman66 you could also use it for any of the Batman games; Data East Batman, Sega Batman Forever, or Stern The Dark Knight.

I designed this kit for Batman66 owners who have placement issues like myself (low ceilings) that make the Stern version difficult to use. The magnetic swivel mount lets you install it anywhere on the back box (or even the leg). You could also use a standard extension cord to mount it on the other end of your game room to project a giant Bat Signal at the entrance to your game room whenever you are playing the game. It has a focus adjustment so no matter what size you project you can dial in the focus to be just to your liking. It is configured to use AC power source so there is no need to worry about blowing up finicky Spike node boards by drawing power from them.

If you have a Batman LE it will use the existing Stern connector to turn the projector on and off during game play. With the current 0.83 code, its on all the time during attract mode. During game play it comes on when you enable a villain and the Batphone rings and also if you start the Batcave hurry up sequence at the start of each of the main villain modes.

For Batman66 Premium owners, it's setup to automatically turn on when the game is on and then turn off when the game is off. It could also be easily be configured to trigger on with a specific lamp or flasher. I couldn't find a good insert lamp or flasher to use that made sense so for the Premium setup I think it looks best when the signal is on all the time.

For those of you who aren't the DIY type I have made some plug and play kits ready to install. It comes with the projector with modified magnetic base, slide with Batman66 style logo, plug and play harness (specify if you need the Premium or LE version), Power Relay with 2' power cord, full instructions with pictures. Cost is $80 plus $10 shipping. PM me for details and if you need a kit for an LE or a Premium.

Is that the hotwheels version or the Eaglemoss one? I think the Eaglemoss is a larger 1:43 scale and the hotwheels is smaller scale of 1:50. The Eaglmoss one should have come with a clear plastic "nest" that holds the bike in the uprigth position which should make mounting it easy

Is there enough clearance on the side so when you raise the playfield it doesnt touch?

A few months ago I made some Bat emblems in the style of the ones on the Bat-mobile car door to dress up my speaker panel. This was before Yelobird came out with his very cool SLE style speaker kit.

For the few of you out there who didn't get the Yelobird speaker kit I have a small number of these available. They are laser cut white plastic with a laser cut red vinyl on top. I think they look just as good with the machine off as they do with the machine on (I have speaker lights installed). They have small magnet on the back so they just stick onto the speaker grill wherever you like. Putting one on the coin door doesn't look bad either.

They are $20 shipped for a pair for the speakers or $10 shipped for one to put on the coin door. PM me if you are interested. If you already ordered my Bat-signal projector mod I can ship them together.

If he included a second IDC connector that snot part of his harness then you need to attach it to his harness so you have 2 IDC connectors next to each other. Then the Z connector can go into the second IDC connector and your topper connector can plug into that second IDC connector.

In the pic below you can see thats how the pinstadium guys made their harness. It uses CN6 but has a second IDC connector so you could plug other things intended for CN6 in it.

Can you add a pic of what Yelobirds harness looks like?

You have an LE right? For my projector mod the LE users tap off the stern connector in the topper as the relay trigger. You dont need to use CN6 at all.

For premium users the harness connects to CN6 to trigger the power elay. Since its only used to trigger the relay its very low current.

I have a breakout header on my harness so if you have something else on CN6 already you can still use it with my harness on the breakout header. The breakout connector I have on my harness is the right style for the topper connector so no need to snip off the nubs on the topper connector. See pic below.

I used CN6 since it was nearby and most people dont have the Stern topper. You dont have to use that connector though.You can trigger the relay on any 3v to 60 vdc signal. So you could tie in to any GI or insert bulb as a tigger and the projector would turn on whenever that light was on.

Well your debugging has shown the ropper is good, CN6 is good, and main wire in speaker light harness is good.

All thats left is that the second connector on the speaker light harness isnt making a good connection to the main wire . If you plug the topper into it can you poke something thin (but not metal, something like the tine on plastic fork) into the top of the connector to make sure the wire is pushed down far enough into the IDC connector.

You could also try plugging the second IDC connector into CN6 (not the one on the end of harness, the one that a couple inches up from it). If the connector is good than the speaker lights should still come on when plugged in to CN6.

Yes for premium users its super easy because the relay is mounted in the back box and its triggered to be on whenever the game is on.

LE users is different since the relay is switched on/off during game play so its not always on when the game is on like the premium version. You could wire up the LE up like the premium but then you lose the game interactivity of the signal.

For LE owners that want to keep the projector mod game controlled but still want a to power mods without taxing Stern power supply there is a solution. Just mount a second power relay switch in the base cabinet and trigger it off CN6. Thats what I'm using in my game.

JFH, you have an LE so your projector mod doesnt use CN6 it uses the Stern LE connecter in the topper that has the projector on/off trigger.

For either version of my mod, the current draw to trigger the AC relay is only a few milliamps. Less than the current draw of a single LED. All the power to drive the super bright LED in the projector is from AC power not CN6 or the topper connector.

Pinstadium has almost 200 LED's on it. So even though it appears to work fine via CN6 I still prefer to power it from an separate power adapter to avoid over taxing the Stern supply.

Do you have villain stacking turned on? When stacking is on you end up starting villain modes without even trying.

Season 3 is a tough one. They replaced the great Nelson Riddle with mediocre Bob May for the music. The budget was cut and it really shows in the sets the used for the villains. It has has Batgirl going for it but not much else. Season 1 and 2 are so much better. There are a couple good ones in there like the King Tut episodes, and the Surfing episode with the Joker. Gotta love Commisioner Gordon and O'Hara undercover at the beach as "Duke and "Buzzy". Falls into the so bad its good category.

It should. Its an awesome game. Nice score. Thats a great price for the limited edition set. It has some nice swag with the batmobile, trading cards, and adam west scrapbook.

Plus I think that set includes the digital HD codes for every sinvle episode. I dont think tou get that with the regular bluray set.

I thought about using the same trigger used used by the mini bat-signal on the SLE's. The connector for that is on all the games but during attract it flashes and and I though it just looked better to be on all the time for premium users.

you could theoretically use pinball browser to extract the clip of your name and re-assign it to replace the sound effect when when the bat-phone is lit so you could hear Batman call you by name! Unfortunately no one with name name got an SLE so I'm out of luck on that one.

Burt did get an SLE and instead of Adam recording "Burt..Get the Batphone" there a 8 second message recorded by Burt himself to his wife. It basically says he loves her and this game is for her. Wish my wife would buy me a 15K pinball machine.

What is needed: (1) 3" matrix cable, (1) matrix "Y" adaptor, and (1) 6 LED matrix panel. (About 3$?)

I think Spike drives all of their LED's at 5V. Besides being a litter dimmer than normal, are there any caveats with running the 6.3V matrix LED at 5V?

On the Comet website they state: "Please leave a comment in the order notes if you are using #44/47 bases for controlled lighting or for GI in games operation with the Spike system". So maybe they do something different with the LED if they know its going into a Spike game?

I know cointaker sells single LED and multi-LED flasher's specifically made for Spike games. Not sure what is actually different about those.

I havent had any resets on mine before or after the update. Didn't one of the service bulletins mention a capacitor fix which might stabilize voltages ?

Do you have a lot of mods installed that might be dragging your power down?

I agree 100%. The late code delivery was pretty frustrating but I think Stern did a great job with the other apsects of the game. Great art, fun toys, groovy music, funny custom call outs by original cast, great vintage sound bites from original cast, best use of LCD, best topper, and best overall theme integration.

Plus in a recent facebook post Gomez said we aint seen nothing yet with respect to Lymans code plans.

As an FYI if you want to rotated the projected signal 180 degrees you can open the door on the bottom of the projector, pull out the slide, rotate it 180, then put it back in.

A have couple more bat projectors ready to go if anyone wants one PM me.

I think I have the right size connector now that will work for you to avoid using splice connectors. This new connector should just be plug and play. I made you a new harness with the connector and will ship it out tomorrow morning. If it works ok I can make the same one for Batman60 if he wants.

I had a few people on a waiting list for Batman parachute pickup vans, so I did another batch. Since MK6pin had the idea to mount the van on a post I revised my design slightly. I added a 3/32" hole on the bottom which is a good size for a #4 sized screw.

I then take a length of lock wire from harbor freight and put a small loop at the end. I put the screw through the loop and screwed it to the bottom of the van. The free end of the wire can now go under any other screw (like on top of post screw) to secure the van.

To make mounting easy I still include the double sided foam tape on the bottom so you can still attach that way to a flat surface. If you don't use the wire you can just leave it tucked in along the side or just unscrew the screw.

I finished the vans for those who were already waiting for one and have a couple left for anyone else who wants one. Its getting more difficult to find donor vans and they are a pain to make so I probably won't be making anymore for a while once these are gone. The price went up slightly to $45 shipped since I had to scrounge online sources for donor vans and they were a little more expensive to get this time around.

I think your Batman has been hanging around the atomic pile too long. He looks like he's starting to melt. He can't even stand up he's so weak from radiation poisoning.

If you want a more vigorous Batman head over to your local Walmart or Target and look for the DC diecast metal nanofigs. The have a Batman thats stands tall and proud. Best part is that he's only $0.97.

He's mounted on a base thats a little too big to fit on the pile so use a dremel to chop off the base. Then put a glue dot under each foot and a few on his back and he's ready to stand up against the upper dome light and watch guard over the batcave.

This has been corrected. - The last shot to the turntable (batmobile spinner) to light BAT TURN wasn't boosting the BAT TURN value. This has been corrected. - Added HSTD for Egghead and Mr. Freeze. - Added shaker motor effects. - Fixed an issue where the hurry-up (cliffhanger) scores for the major villain modes were not being displayed correctly. - Fixed a bug that was prohibiting MORE TIME from being awarded again on the same ball. - MORE TIME is no longer awarded from MYSTERY if timers are frozen. - Fixed a reset problem that occurred when a small TV would be removed from the display at the end of a mode/multiball. - Minor villain mode select (TV insert on the left orbit/loop) was not being (silently) lit during multiball when the TV targets were completed. Just played a game with the 84 code. The changing channels feature is really cool.

Some asked if you used a gadget when switching channels. If you hold the gadget button down until it switches channels you wont use up a gadget.

I was surpised there was a code drop yesterday and the Stern of The Union update the day before didnt mention it was coming.

The last 4 updates were about 2 weeks apart from one another.

0.80 - 10/27
0.81 - 11/7
0.83 - 11/21
0.84 - 12/6

Is Stern they trying to live up to the "code every two weeks" promise? Does that mean more code on 19'th or 20'th?

In the Nov Stern of Union they said:

"Be on the lookout for a teaser pic soon showing some things in the works involving the minor villain mode implementation; some very unique and innovative rules!"

Never saw that pic. Wonder if its a feature we still havent seen in the lastest code.

I'm really enjoy how tbe code is bringing the game alive.

Makes me excited to see what he can do with Elvira3. Would be cool to see her lounging on her red velvet couch hurling insults at you when you screw up. Since most of the "bad" movies she mocked on her show were public domain, Stern should be free to show clips of them on the LCD as well.

Great ideas for mounting the Parachute pickup van! I still waffle back and forth where I like it. I liked it on top of the ramp flap and also down by the left drain in place of the diverter. The post mount by MK6pin looks good too. I just got Yelobirds shooter lane car mount so maybe I'l try it there as well, decisions, decisions.
