Quoted from rikity:Using a credit card is the most secure method to buy something online, you are not responsible for any fraudulent charges whereas on a debit you do have a $50 liability.
Update this morning, the mysterious "thing" is on a flight getting ready to depart Chiiina. Hahaha
That sounds great and all, but anyone who has ever filed a claim knows it's a pain in the ass and a situation to be avoided if possible.
Quoted from Dantesmark:This man is a hero... lest not forget... he had the balls to make the purchase.
Hope it works!
I wouldn’t call it balls.
Deep down inside he really
Thinks there’s a chance he’s getting a $7,000 pinball machine. So call it balls if you want, but scammers rely on greed, not balls, to find marks.
The guy thinks he bought a $90 lotto ticket when Best case he receives absolutely nothing and that’s the end of it.
Quoted from Mitch:I cant see how you wouldn't get a full machine.
Because shippers don;t use air shipment for pins! The buyer already stated that "it" was going on the boat, now its going on a plane! Must be a toy!!
Quoted from hawkmoon:Because shippers don;t use air shipment for pins!
That's a good point.
IF really shipped, air travel should be the first indicator that this is not a full size pinball machine.
I would hate to go to a casino with this bunch. He took a gamble and we all should enjoy the ride. Will it be a full size pinball, unlikely. Will it be a christmas tree ornament, could be. Will it be a envelope with a picture of a pinball, maybe. Let's just let it marinade in it's own curiosity and quit saying it's not a full size game. Have some fun with it.
This would be the most elaborate hoax of all Pinside lore if OP actually bought a BM66 from a legitimate distributor and planned on having it delivered next week.

Didn’t the latest batch of TBLs ship via DHL air? You never know!

First thing I did to celebrate this New Year was charge back $1400 worth of purchases on Roblox made by my daughter. The CC company made it very easy on me
Update on status: Tracking says the plane is still "departed" and theres no update on ETA or anything. I've also read reviews on this Chinese shipping/tracking, this stuff could take weeks to actually arrive, who knows..

A charge back for a mistake like an in-app purchase should be easy. A charge back for fraud / scammers that now have all your info will mean cancelling your current card and sending you a new one. Been there...done that...a few times. As I use said card for basically everything, it's a huge pain switching everything over and trying not to forget anything. And the timing is never good for auto payments. It's a huge headache. Definitely not one I would sign up for voluntarily. Best of luck!
Quoted from rikity:Someone sent me this, the site looks bogus and has spelling errors.. but it advertises a Batman 66 pinball by Stern for $89. Too good to be true i'm sure, but I used a credit card for the 0 liability factor. I've been getting messages from the shipping service that its about ready to be thrown on a boat. They describe the size and weight of a real pin, and a 14 day refund policy. So If I dont get a real pin, i could easily charge the money back from my card. But the $89 wouldnt even cover the shipping!
What am I really going to have show up on my doorstep though?

I like your style- sometimes you got to take a risk for some fun.
Quoted from Pinless:Or post a picture of a BM66 on pinside and watch everyone crash the site with orders.
Seriously though. Op has you guys on the hook and if he were to do just this...post pics of an actual machine...how many of you would fall for it?
Op has 13 posts
Be careful

Yeah, good luck with that...

he has a point! I wouldnt believe me either. Most of those 13 posts are from this thread too. It would of course be much easier if I did this with an Iron Maiden machine though since I have that one already. $89 is really low though, I mean one could easily get a $200 itunes gift card instead right?
Update since I'm here... Chinaweenie Tracking says this thing is in Los Angeles.

I once heard VID actually bought a BM66 for $89

...and then Gary Stern gave him his money back. Why? Respect.
I think you have a legitimate point here.
This site is probably the OP's. Once those see his success, everyone will be firing off $89 - only to find out they are lining the OP's pockets for a real BM66.
In all seriousness, I'm looking forward to end result.

Quoted from ovfdfireman:Credit card covers you if you do not receive what you ordered. Why not!
It's still a hassle to deal with, and takes time.
Plus giving some randoms your credit card and billing info is risky. The website may look clean cut and the payment portion seem on the up and up, but if it isnt secured by PayPal or similar, you literally just typed all the info someone needs to use your card in a text box and sent it to some stranger in China.
Might have been wise to use one of those prepaid burner cards you get at Walgreens?
I ordered the same thing a couple of month back. It was a full sized real machine. But at least two of the inserts had ghosting in the clear right out of the box. Can you believe that! For $89 I would expect to get a couple of games on it before anything happened. So I sent it back. I wonder if they boxed it back up and sent it to you.
Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:Personally I would be checking for any charges on that credit card 2 times a day or more.
If he didn’t immediately freeze/cancel that card after his $89 pin purchase, he’s crazy.
One could always buy one of those prepaid Visa cards with the exact amount on it. I think this cards cost $5 or so. Still might be out the $89 but at least they couldn't run with you credit card number. There might even be some fraud protection on them too.....but not sure.
Heck if you wanna gamble that might be a way of doing it without giving someone your legit card info.

3AA387F4-D695-426B-AB74-5AEA40FB568B (resized).jpegI really can't believe someone would get a full size B66 for $89. and send it back because of ghosting??MyB66LE was delivered with a completely broken turntable, and was guaranteed, and fixed!! They also came with some cracked cabs, nib,so a new/old B66 Pre(remember, they didn't make any Pros )would be worth it!! Must be a toy!!! IMHO!!!!
