I was experiencing the exact same problem. Whenever the diverter was triggered, it would open and then close right away. I was able to resolve this without bending the diverter at all. I just had to loosen the diverter, position it by extending the plunger as far back as it could go without pulling the plunger out of the coil, push down on top of the diverter in the closed position and tighten the screw back. Diverter is opening/closing as it should now. Just wanted to post this because I don't want people bending their diverter unless it's absolutely necessary.
