Maybe the second LCD replaces the playfield to prevent ghosting, inserts will just be an image on the screen. Hybrid virtual pinball.

Stern: How do we charge people more money without having them revolt against us?
Stern Employee: Rename the Pro to Premium, the Premium to LE, and LE to Super LE.
Stern: Brilliant!!
Quoted from cscmtp:This is the dumbest statement I've read on pinside in a month, and that's saying something. Hobbit is an incredible pin, and the large majority of owners LOVE this pin. They don't like it, they LOVE it. The only thing that sucks in pinball right now is Stern's quality control and issues with their playfields. And the worst part about JJP (the pre pay model) is now a thing of the past.
I thought The Hobbit was incredibly boring, as a matter of fact I walked away in the middle of a game. Ball times were way too long and I didn't find much exciting while I played. The theme also doesn't do anything for me personally. Needless to say, I don't feel like I'm missing out by not having one.
Quoted from hooch333:Yes, comic collecting......comics I bought for 25 cents in the 70'a are worth 1000's now......Everytime a new superhero movie comes out related character comics value skyrocket.
True some comics are worth 1000's from the 70s, but not many and it really depends on the condition. The ones worth money are usually ones that introduce characters for the first time.
Quoted from EricHadley:The more you play The Hobbit the more you realize how amazing it is
I can believe that, I think that would be where the theme could help, but unfortunately it's not for me. I do appreciate games with deep code and it's a good looking game, so I'd imagine if you're a Hobbit fan, you'd probably enjoy it.
Stern take my money!
Oh wait, now I have to beg for one now too?? The pinball business must be doing extremely well now.
Hope those super LEs are as special as the price and hassle it is to get one.
I know this is just special pricing for BM66, but I'm at the limit for premium pinball. I'm not going to pay over 7k for a pinball machine, I think it's pretty hard to justify as is. If the price goes up any further, then I guess I'm out of the NIB buying experience.
Fortunately at this point, I don't have much an interest for BM66 (would like to see photos though). I'm still waiting on my GB premium, which is taking forever and there's the question marks concerning Stern's quality.
So just to recap...
Stern is having a competition to see who gets the opportunity to pay 15k for a pinball machine.
They announced the playfield will be the same as the premium version that is several thousands cheaper, so it's most likely cosmetic. And they haven't shown photos or anything, but some people are chomping at the bit to buy one. Wow, err that's a lucky 30 ppl.
Anyone get any estimates for a B66 premium? I'd like to know the street price. Perhaps I'll switch my order from GB to B66 or Lawlor's game if I don't receive my game by the time they are presented.
Quoted from dgarrett:7600 is one data point, I've heard lower.
So what have you heard?
What's with people trying to be coy all the time?
Well, Stern is known to have minimal sales prices they allow distributors to sell for. Anyone happen to know what it is for BM66?
Quoted from capguntrooper:Is that better? I didn't mean to offend you, as a matter of fact I am offended with myself for offending you while making the world a safer place.......said no service member......EVER!
Just to keep things real, service members have been playing pinball and winning wars since pinball inception.
Relax, enjoy your yogurt at RS or go get some Thai food.
Quoted from capguntrooper:Relax huh? Tell ya what why don't ya come on over and have an MRE and get your one meal a day in a base chow hall with me, then ask me about how that Relaxing thing is working out. There is no relaxing where I am at. Tell ya what, have some yogurt and Thai food for me while not getting Rocketed and Mortared back stateside.
Meanwhile, Looking forward to some close up pix of this BM66 from expo, don't hold out on me guys, its like porn for me....lol sort of.
I've been over there more than you obviously know.
Stay safe and enjoy saving for pinball, but please don't act as if you are saving the world on my behalf.
BTW, Ministry of Yogurt and the Thai restaurant are located on RSHQ in Kabul, Afghanistan.
My GB premium is finally arriving on Monday, I was thinking I was going to be in a position to decide between B66, Lawlor's game or GB. Oh well, guess my decision is that much easier; hopefully my GB arrives and doesn't suffer from recent quality issues.
Quoted from BoJo:Problem with all these analogies is you don't play any of them. Pinball is so unique you really cannot compare it to anything else.
Comic books were designed to be read, but then you'd run the risk of jacking up the condition. I have some rare comics (first issue of SM, Wolverine, Punisher, XMen), but they aren't worth as much as you might think.
I have a hard time believing a pin that originally cost 15k will go up much in value, especially with the other versions available that offer similar gameplay.
Quoted from lordloss:More recently they have been behind the times. Look at their dinky little phones compared to the new standard large phones people love. Their stock price also dictates how far behind they are, it's way down from the jobs era
Apple stock has since split and is higher than its almost ever been (well above then when Jobs was in charge). Apple's smaller phones were also a hit recently as well as its larger ones.
My initial impression is that it doesn't look bad, but the playfield doesn't look like it has anything special going on above and beyond their normal premium machines. I'm fine with the art, but again on par with Ghostbusters.
The prices are certainly ridiculous, even Gomez seemed embarrassed to discuss the price when asked the question on the video posted on Stern's facebook page.
