Hmmm? Wonder if they are going to release the Super LE for GB as well.....you get extra Ghosts on the play field.

#1932 7 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

I dont like Sterns prices either and would like to see people stop buying their pins at these ridiculous prices, but have you seen JJP's prices? They are ridiculous also and I wouldn't buy a Spooky machine at any price, they are horrible imo.

IMHO JJP off sets their prices by quality vs quantity and then there is their whole 1 year warranty as opposed to Stern's 60 day warranty. Yes they had a a few hiccups with their first pin, but have since resolved them and are what a NIB should be like. Not a fan a boy and do not own a WOZ or TH, but I will when I get back from deployment. At least I know my play field will not fall apart or be subject to Stern's judgement if they decide to honor their Warranty with their "Case by Case" basis.

Quoted from LOTR_breath:

Deployable behavior? Oh yeah, that's capguntrooper!

I apologize, I really need to get my deployable behavior under control. Taliban and Isis just can't live with it here.

With every one swearing off Stern and the ones who do buy these over priced pins, it will pretty much be like people who blow their load on a fancy house but do not have any money to put furniture in it. Heck after market pinball companies will start to struggle because no one can afford to add mods their machines too, LOL

Seriously man, I feel bad for his keyboard right now, it took quite the beating!

Oh he killed it and with all this talk of Home pin, if they pull a GB fiasco for their first pin they will be out of business before they even get started.

Quoted from jar155:

The notion that this should cost any more than any other pin Stern makes is ridiculous. I bet this ends up having a larger run than WWE. Stern is telling you it should cost more, but really, why should it? Why should the premium be more expensive than a standard premium? It's going to run the same code as the LE/SLE, so differences are going to be less than the pro/premium split.
This is a gross grab for extra margin hidden behind a false report of limited stock.

I wonder how long SLE owners will have to wait on code updates? Maybe the SLE code will be complete before the next 30 year anniversary ahead of LE/PREM owners.....those guys may have to wait for the third anniversary.

Quoted from iceman44:

They are able to flip the machine because it is deemed worth more to someone else!
In the cargument, the dealers are making the extra profit, not some customer doing a car flip because they just got a great f Ing deal
When you go to sell that Hobbit of yours you won't get out of it what you put into it. May not matter or you may never sell it. At $6500 I may not get that out of my WozLE some day, not planning on selling
Limited anything usually retains it value better over the long term. That's why some Operators are buying LEs now and when they have recouped cost they go on the secondary market for more
If I got f Ed like you did on that GBLE I'd be pissed at Stern too

I would agree only if there were no Vault editions made as far as making a profit on a HUO game. I mean if you have a TRON LE HUO, I will gladly pay you what you bought it for when it was released

#3116 7 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

See Nissan GTR - its price increase has been steady and quite significant while mostly being the same car. They realized the intro price point was under priced.
Prices are increased when a company realizes they missed the mark. But customers are very sensitive to price increases, so typically you use tricks to get the same effect without people seeing a 1 to 1 price increase. Introduce a new model at a higher price point and slowly or coyly remove that prior model. Etc
When the company seems the market is EAGER to overpay for your product or a competitors product.. you will evaluate your own price points.
They aren't going to look just at the corner cases, but this kind of comparative analysis and evaluation of price strategies happens all the time.

BAM! WHAP! KA-ZING! You nailed it! Pro's will become the new PREM models while simply just charging PREM prices for pro's. SLE's will be the LE models....ha ha!

#3118 7 years ago
Quoted from SuperPinball:

I may take you up on that if/when a TRON premium VE gets released.

HA HA, exactly my point, if a TRON VE gets put out those LE prices will drop over night

Who else besides me is on the BAN list?

#3523 7 years ago
Quoted from Manimal:

And whatever did you do to get banned? I can loan you my ID to use?

Mainly pointing out Sterns KISS and GOT PREM/LE issues and creating fixes for them, where they just rewrote code to fix hardware issues. Ritchie himself knows my pinside handle and wasn't happy I had to fix issues with his machines. Thanks for the loaner but they canceled the Stern After party here in Afghanistan, I will catch the next one in a year or so.

Quoted from 82Trooper:

Hey-Cap gun trooper....if no one told you recently...thank you for your airborne service.
I was in the 82nd Airborne...from '84 to '88...when the Russians were about the only bad guys.
Keep your eyes open, your head down and come home and play pinball as soon as you can!

WILCO! And thank you for you for your service sir. Will be getting in some quality time with the wife first. So don't be thinking I got a BMLE cause ya hear "WHAM", "BOOM", "POW". Thats just all the furniture and bed getting abused....he he!

Quoted from Aurich:

The usual Facebook ban list? Or did they actually ban you from the party?

Well, Facebook ban of course, but if you asked if Capguntrooper could join the party the answer would be "NO!!!" They are just glad I didn't buy a GB or have a pre order for a BMLE. Chas and my DISTRO have my number memorized, it got to the point where I emailed support direct and CC'd my DISTRO and I had my warranty stuff taken care of. Not like I could go anyway, too busy at my dating service job here in Afghanistan. Can ya believe I have successfully arranged dozens of meetings and not one complaint.

Please don't post that stuff here...this is a pinball forum. We just had a blowout over a hanging photo just last week.

Is that better? I didn't mean to offend you, as a matter of fact I am offended with myself for offending you while making the world a safer place.......said no service member......EVER!

Just to keep things real, service members have been playing pinball and winning wars since pinball inception.

Making the world a safer place? Ha...said the guy who travels for a living.

Said the guy who travels for a living. ooooooooooooo-k, I travel to places no one wants to go to including yourself, in order to keep family and friends safe back home playing pinball. Hey, since you travel for a living, stop on over, oh wait.......you can't, your warrior skills stop at the keyboard. Don't worry dude I got your pack, I will just stuff it in my cargo pocket on my next mission. Keep on flippin.

Relax, enjoy your yogurt at RS or go get some Thai food.

Relax huh? Tell ya what why don't ya come on over and have an MRE and get your one meal a day in a base chow hall with me, then ask me about how that Relaxing thing is working out. There is no relaxing where I am at. Tell ya what, have some yogurt and Thai food for me while not getting Rocketed and Mortared back stateside.

Meanwhile, Looking forward to some close up pix of this BM66 from expo, don't hold out on me guys, its like porn for me....lol sort of.

Capguntrooper, I don't know why you do what you do when people treat you like shit and the government treats you like a expendable pawn but I appreciate you. Thank you

I do it for my brother on the left and for my brother on the right, to make sure they come home to their families and I take shit from people and sometimes my government because every threat that disappears from my cross hairs is one less threat to my family and friends back home.

#3763 7 years ago
Quoted from 27dnast:

(2) know is being manufactured by a company that has been shipping very expensive games with quality control issues and identified defects (with, mind you, no response to the problem).

I will disagree with you there, when I created a fix for the left loop GOT issue they finally got around to fixing it by rewriting the code so the ball is supposed to intentionally drop in the pops.......wait.......crap, never mind, carry on, my bad.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

one for the "You ooze, you loose" file....
"Villain" ain't spelled right on the TV.

You have to pay extra to get correct spelling in the SDLE (SUPER DUPER LIMITED EDITION) they are limited to only 5,000 and require a blood contract and your first born child.

Quoted from Aurich:

Well there are obviously three costs, right?
There's pure BOM. And LCD is cheaper than DMD, hands down. You save costs with the switch.
There's cost to develop the hardware/software. Spike 2.0 or whatever it is. That's a long term sunk cost that you amortize over several titles.
Then there's the cost to develop the graphics for every game for the display. And that's a really wide spectrum of possibilities. Obviously if you're trying to make it look like a AAA modern video game for instance that's gonna cost you. On the other side of the spectrum if you are doing a license that comes with video assets, say Iron Man or Spider-Man (OG) etc then it's actually easier than dealing with dots.
The truth is that doing "true" dots is hard. It's an art to work personality and animation into 128x32 pixels and all in grey(red)scale. Working at high rez is often just much easier. Less compromise, more 'cheats'.
Batman66 hasn't really been revealed yet, the LCD content at Expo was really limited during the attract mode. And we haven't seen Aerosmith yet. I can't make any educated responses to what they're doing.
But I know quite a bit now about what goes on behind the scenes for the development process. And I just want to use that experience to tell people "don't get fooled", meaning great, everyone is on LCD now, I think that's a good thing, but don't just open your wallet for it. Make them earn it. Any company, Stern, JJP, Heighway, whoever. Don't shell out another $1000 just because you've got some color now. Don't compare the costs to adding a ColorDMD. Look at the value proposition.

I would also add the fact that it was mentioned somewhere (in another thread I think) that clips would be used from the BM66 slot machine as well. Cut and paste from Kapow's library in conjunction with Aristocrat, which would save a lot of money in development fees to include all the other clips that didn't make it into the slots and you will essentially have another BM SLOT VE, personally I think it more fun to loose money on that one.

Quoted from iceman44:

Since you can't choose the LE and SLE, because they are "sold out" with people waiting in line, at least you can select the "promium"
I get a chuckle every time i see comments like this.
Why on earth should Stern be ashamed? Yes the pricing in ridiculous and completely out of control, but its due in large part to the greedy flippers as well.
How many times recently, especially with GBLE and RZ, have you seen people buy a GBLE for $8k and flip it for $9500, early on it was people climbing all over themselves to buy it for $10k from the distributors to cut somebody else out.
With RZ and such a small run, they have had a huge number of pins for sale on the marketplace. All to make a few hundred bucks, wtf?
What do you think would have happened with a BM66LE if it was priced at $8500? There would be people fighting in the streets to get one so they could make a quick flip.
There is a segment of buyers that want "collectible" and great pins, and if you don't make it "collectible", that's a HUGE part of the growth sector of pinball and people with $$$ that will disappear and Stern and JJP know it. (JJP late to the party)
Or we can go back to the days of just a "promium", with Stern being the only pin maker and teetering on going out of business.
Take your pick.

Those greedy flippers may get burned big time when they try to sell a pin with massive ghosting issues no wants to buy. A GB was just reported having an OCT build date having ghosting insert issues with a 100 plays and it even had a play field protector installed before a single ball was played. Not sure if stern has started pumping out BM66 play fields yet, but if they are I would imagine similar issues would arise unless the BM66 play fields are being made somewhere else. Maybe they are laced with 24K gold which prevents ghosting inserts, this would explain the price increase.

Quoted from Pinfactory2000:

It really depends on how you define being 'rich' and/or 'wealth' I suppose.
IMO, keeping anything over $50K or so in your basic ATM/low interest checking account (when you you can have the same immediate access to cash from many many places and instruments that give you exponentially larger returns) is silly.

I have my friends, family and brothers at arms, as far as I am concerned, I am one of the richest men alive.

ebay.com link: DC Comics Batman Bat Signal Kits Books Mega Mini Light Up Projection Toy USA

Get your bat signal here, get it while its HOT, BAT SIGNAL HEEEEEEEERE!

There are like 100 different versions of projection bat signals ranging from $1 to $100, some elaborate old time BM66 style/era and others like a laser show. any one who buys a PROMIEUM can get one cheap and better looking than what Stern is offering. I built a dark night arcade and used the laser ones under the control panel to project on the ground in front of machine. so the options and applications are endless.

Looks like Stern posted a pic of production playfield.. flap still covering the head.. but I think its positive change, and will detract from the small amount of the head you cant see

I can get over the head issue if they get rid of her boner. I am just not into trannies.
