I believe the pricing is already at ridiculous levels, which is why I am no longer a buyer.

Stern encouraged all this idle speculation by announcing and selling a new game without any photos. sketches or conceptual drawings to back it up. Jacked up the pricing just for good measure on top of that...
Quoted from thundergod76:I just noticed there's a poll at the top for hottest catwoman. Sorry but I can't participate in such poll without Julie Newmar as a choice...
Julie Newmar was the slinkiest Catwoman for sure.
Quoted from Pinstein:I think this Catwoman's in heat.
Whoever did that is pretty good at faces...
Even though Stern "saved pinball", it may yet ruin it by continuing to jack the price out of reach of the average pinball purchaser--the people who actually saved pinball.
Quoted from vid1900:It's the same people who harp about Autotune.
Every commercial song is corrected with Autotune. Country, Folk, Rock, Rap, Jazz...
Vid--not buying this. Autotune is lame--any self respecting vocalist who can actually sing on key wouldn't be caught dead using it. It has made stars out of a lot of "singers" who are pitch challenged, however. Of course, I've never made it out of the bar/party circuit, so what do I know...
Quoted from vid1900:...Again, better music through technology.
I have to disagree. Rock and Roll was meant to be played fast, loose, and spontaneously--not note perfect and structured. The great recordings of the 60's and 70's, the really good musicians always built the songs--adding more as they got further into the tune. The more adventurous bassists kept adding to their bass lines, good guitarist added more complexity or cool little riffs each verse, and the drummer usually got into the act as well by adding fills and more cymbal hits. Mistakes often were made along the way--and they were not corrected like they are now. This type of adventurism is rarely heard in modern songs. You lay down one verse, the engineer copies it and punches it in for the remaining verses. Lay down one chorus, punch it in for all the choruses. Make a mistake, punch-in fixes it. Pathetic.
One example--Jimmy Page said he usually laid down several solos and picked the one with the most energy--not the most perfect one. Zep's recordings are sprinkled with mistakes or missed notes--but the energy and excitement is there big time. All the punch-ins, tweaking, musical repetition, and vocal tuning has taken the danger and excitement from most modern recordings. I prefer anything that was recorded straight to tape.
Quoted from vid1900:...If you are in a bar with live music, listen if the singer moves aside and his mic picks up the cymbals, pitch changing them. A good sound guy always has his finger on the gain, lol.
Too much generalization. I've played in many bars with many bands over the years. Not one note has ever been pitch altered or shifted by a sound man--if we were even lucky enough to have one. Not many bar bands can afford a sound man.
Quoted from DaveH:And the rails! I'm tired of playfields resting on anything but pegs. Peg me Jack, Peg me. Now we're talking.
For what BM66 is gonna cost I'm expecting a hydraulic/electric playfield lifting mechanism...
Quoted from Travish:OK... With that I think it's about time for another Julie Newmar picture.
Absolutely! However, that last "Julie Newmar" photo looked suspiciously like Yvonne Craig trying to be Julie Newmar. Odd. This photo is a little closer to the real deal...
Stern is going to keep pushing the pricing envelope until one day people just stop buying. Maybe BM66 will be their wake-up call of "Hmm...maybe we've taken this about as far as we can." Or maybe they keep pushing. If they alienate pinball enthusiasts enough to where they choose to get their pinball fix elsewhere (due to quality control issues, lack of respect for customers, unrealistic pricing structure, etc.), Stern will go under--and rightfully so.
Well, after watching those two Man on the Silver Mountain videos, I have come to these conclusions.
I can now better understand why the Brits have always been so gobsmacked that we here in the US don't regard RB as highly as other guitarists who were much more popular. RB really was the real deal--I stand corrected.
Bonnet was way out of his element on this tune. I think he did some really nice tunes with Rainbow--just not this one.
Quoted from Banker:Paid in full my LE this morning, they are still saying shipping 12/15. Hope so!
Did they give you a year?
I believe Stern is requiring those who want to see actual gameplay to submit a video as to why they deserve to see it...
Quoted from Manimal:They usually shut down the week between Xmas and New Year. You can't send an entire factory home with no pay for 3 weeks, and I doubt very seriously they are going to give the staff a 3-week paid vacation.
With what they are getting for BM66, they just might be able to swing it...
