Quoted from SimonBaird:

Anyone got any thoughts on "LCD replacing the dot matrix display" which way do you think Stern will go? Dutch pinball with sega size display, showing a more traditional pixilated image? JJP with full LCD? Personally my pick is for a Dutch style display, might be a bit old school but I think it more of an evolution of the traditional dot matrix, were as JJP display is a totally different direction. Might need to start a poll on this one.

I'm sure it's already set but wouldn't mind seeing a 24" or more monitor sitting portrait instead of landscape with robust speakers flanking it. My thought being that the real estate used on the monitor could be used top 2/3 for graphics and gimmicks while the lower 1/3 for scoring.

Of course the back box would still have a translight but smaller than in the past. Hopefully using leds spotted in specific locations for use during the attract mode. Time to scrap the cheapness back there.

Whatever they are doing will be the basis of games from now out. At least for a while. IMO, this is a great theme to introduce the hardware. Hopefully the system will have plenty of capacity. I would want plenty of Biffs and Pows on that monitor when certain goals and shots are met. And hopefully the rules will go deep. I'm one of those that did a couple cash out front deals and puckered up my sphincter waiting for other games. I won't do that again. But I do think this is something that I will strongly consider when it is a couple months into production.

I guess we need to say over $10K before Christmas.

I'm just wondering how many pages in this thread before Expo.

A few years ago, a model kit company by the name of Polar Lights produced a number of kits based on the TV show. They still sell a "crimefighter" kit at 1/24 scale which would likely be too large to incorporate into a game. The other smaller die cast kits they sold included were a Batboat, the copter and cycle. I've got to believe the kits are still kicking around or other manufacturers still run them. IOW, Stern had a lot to choose from when they did The Simpsons, could easily do the same this time around.

That said, I'm one that has played the slots based on the show. It is my assumption that this game is piggy backing along the with licenses used on the slots. The slots use the Gorshin Riddler, the Romero Joker, the Newman Catwoman and the Craig BatGirl. there is also the TV show Alfred & Burt Ward Robin. The one absence that is notable is the Burgess Meredith Penguin. I also believe that the Price Egghead graphic makes an appearance but there were no sound bytes or extra game play from that character.

I've got great expectations for this game. But will not lay out a cent until I see it. If it is a rehash of the previous Stern Batman, I won't have a problem walking away.

Back on topic. Who is the hottest catwoman?

The poll could be RIGHTFULLY edited to include the clear winner, Julie Newmar, right now and she would still pass up the other pretenders that were listed.

Quoted from Pinstein:

Wow, really beautiful. Love those extra smoky eyes on catwoman.

I understand that Stern or whoever has gotten Burt Ward and Adam West to do voiceovers. There is plenty that could be pulled off the TV show that might fit but the next obvious question is, is there a chance that Julie Newmar could also contribute?

Not going to skim the entire thread but from what I've seen of the cabinet that American Pinball has shown and where they mounted the 15" or so display, is this an indication of the direction that Stern is headed?

IOW, the display low, the pitch of the glass appears to be a bit steeper and there appears to a bit more "headroom" for toys on the playfield.

BTW, I agree, Julie Newmar would dominate the poll.

So which catwoman is that? Looks like Lee Merriweather to me.

The architecture going forward looks promising. I like the layout with the monitor. This art work to me is great. It's just that IMO they recycled an old game and didn't really stretch anything in the process. Going to wait and see how the theme is integrated into the game. And what sort of sense of humor is integrated.
