Thought this was interesting in the Pinball News report:
"Unfortunately, because we had the temerity to question the $15,000 price tag for the new Batman 66 game, Pinball News was banned from the Stern factory. "

That's a bunch of poppycock.

Pretty sure..

There's $1400 price difference between Premium and LE. Do you think you could get powder coated armor, topper, and the non interactive toys for less. Stern sells on their site toppers for $500, custom armor for $250, and inner side art for $80.

MSRP difference is about $1400. Real world street price is more like $2k. Distributors are discounting the premiums more than the LE's.

JJPs LCD and graphics interface from WOZ in 2012 looks more advanced then this. Sure, its color- but wow, you have to admit JJP beat them 4+ years ago to the market with an LCD and it is still more advanced then Stern'a offering here.

This doesn't even come close touching WOZ's tilt bob.

Sorry Stern (and, now that I think of it, 50% of Pinside ... but, hey.... we're all friends here)

Seriously? Journalists not allowed to freely report or pose questions to their community of readers? PN is great, that's garbage.

Exactly. Imagine this sitting next to a WOZ or Hobbit with its sweet LCD and graphics interface. Although they are older games, and cheaper then the $15K SLE, they will look better built and more expensive for sure - even those come with Invisiglass. Kind of crazy for that price there's not some type of anti glare glass standard. It's a very expensive vault edition with an LCD and topper for $15K, in my opinion.

But to each their own.. whomever is a buyer.. enjoy! I'm sure it's fun.

I did notice the home use Spider-mans in the background, wonder when those will be officially announced?

What you should be apologizing for is the vertical video you took.

#4468 7 years ago

That screen is epic fail! What a stupid choice.

Stern does the same stupid thing on their facebook page.

Have you guys seen this survey posted to Stern's Facebook page? Thoughts? Wonka would be cool!

I just saw the FB video of the BM66 SLE and it looks twenty times better than the static photos. I like it a lot!

Wouldn't even consider paying $15k for it, but it does look pretty damn sweet.

I'm surprised by just how cheezy / low quality the animation work is for a game that costs $8k-$15k. I saw a pic of the game earlier with the high score screen and honestly it looks very similar to the image below which I just made in paint in 2 minutes with a picture off Google...

Quoted from lordloss:

More recently they have been behind the times. Look at their dinky little phones compared to the new standard large phones people love. Their stock price also dictates how far behind they are, it's way down from the jobs era

Apple stock has since split and is higher than its almost ever been (well above then when Jobs was in charge). Apple's smaller phones were also a hit recently as well as its larger ones.

Took a few pics of the SLE at the Stern program.
The Batsignal looks pretty cool and the SLE decals are very shiny.

meh not too impressed for the $$. You might as well just get a dark knight.

#4481 7 years ago

As much as the middle is wide open the art sure makes it look "busy".

This pin would probably sell like hotcakes if it were priced ~$5-8K street price

As with SM VE, is Stern happy to sell merely several hundred of a high priced pin wouldn't it be better to sell several thousand of a middle priced pin?

IMO these pins should be

pre = pro $5500
LE = premium $7000
SLE = LE $8500

this would still be the most expensive Stern 3 model lineup to date and may set the price structure going forward with Star Wars etc..

Is the screen all animation or do they use clips from the TV show?

It's most likely preliminary video. Or they are purposely recreating the 60's look.

Young Frankenstein

#4487 7 years ago

Gomez said they have more than 10,000 clips from the Batman show. He said he nearly fell out of his chair when he heard that number and said, "Don't tell Gary..."

That's great. I hope they use more than 6.

#4490 7 years ago

My initial impression is that it doesn't look bad, but the playfield doesn't look like it has anything special going on above and beyond their normal premium machines. I'm fine with the art, but again on par with Ghostbusters.

The prices are certainly ridiculous, even Gomez seemed embarrassed to discuss the price when asked the question on the video posted on Stern's facebook page.

#4491 7 years ago

Looks nice....bat signal very easy to replicate.
Super LE art work is the best IMO as others have stated.
Display is very fitting for this one, seems a be 4:3 aspect rather than a wide screen like others.
Actually a bit surprised its not a larger scale.

#4492 7 years ago

Rest easy Bat fans, I just took a peek at JJP 3. I still can't believe what a fail it is. It was the great pin everyone has been waiting for and now they're going to sell 6,999 LEs? Talk about a crash and burn. They'll be lucky to sell 100. It makes BM66 look amazing, hell even Houdini is better.

Agreed. The BM66 just got affordable for a lot of folks. I am a huge JJ P fan. But I gotta admit this one sucks.

#4494 7 years ago

If you guys are not happy with the price of BM66, what makes you think that the other pins on KaPow's 'Dream List' are going to be any cheaper, if they ever go into production???

I just received an e-mail from JJP and here is the pricing they listed for Dialed In.

PRICING :
Dialed In - Limited Edition model is $ 9,000
Dialed In - Collectors Edition model is $ 12,500
Deposit ONLY now $250 for Limited Edition, $ 1,000 for Collectors Edition (nothing else until it ships)

#4496 7 years ago

I'm very mildly excited to play BM66 on location. Absolutely NO WAY I would pay crazy high prices to own such a game. I'm 20% more excited about Dialed In, but these are both VERY disappointing. Sorry, pinball fans.

#4497 7 years ago

So 7600 for a premium; you're charging 800 more for that colored LCD screen. I'm sorry, but no. You won't get my money for that price.

Same goes for JJP for that matter. I'd rather have WOZ and GB over both these games.

#4498 7 years ago

I want a pinball on a stick, strictly for medicinal purposes

#4499 7 years ago

Wow, what an amazing turn of events. This thread was a real Debbie downer by the price police and then JJP #3 was announced a little while ago and now Pinside is in wild fire mode in 3-4 different threads where people are self-immolating over JJP's new "Dialed In" game. It's looks and price actually make BM66 (non SLE of course), look like the Belle of the Ball.

#4500 7 years ago

SO,do the LEs come with invisaglass, and side art blades too?? And do they have the same topper??
