Stern will also be offering extra chances to get a SLE in the form of raffle tickets. You can buy them for $300 each (30 years x 10), limited to 30 (30 years), available to the top 30 people (30 years) they select who come to the Expo party dressed as their favorite Batman 66 character. You will still have to pay for your SLE if selected.

Awesome, going out to buy my outfit now. I wont look stupid will I?

Kudos to Stern for finding a way to make a quick 9K

Considering the party is limited to 450 people and many will not dress up you have some good odds to be in the top 30 selected. Maybe people will start flipping their tickets since it's sold out.

They're charging for a promotional event. Seems kinda lame to me.

30 Super LEs, One for every country Stern ships pins to.

Quoted from cooked71:

But you have to send me a You Tube application and cheque for $15k before I will even consider letting you maybe have a chance of buying one.

The silly thing is I actually like making videos (it's also part of my job which helps), so I could have my Lebowski application video on Youtube for you by 12 midnight. Haha.....coming up with the money is the problem.

Stern has a lot of experience working with LCD displays on pins? I bet everyone remembers how cool that one was on that recent Wrasslin' pin! Will there be clips from the cartoon?

Way more than a promotional event. Jared is running it. So it will be huge.

Entertainment, free pinball machines to play all night. Etc. Etc. Stern had to rent the venue and pay for the entertainment and workers to haul it all over there and set it up.

Jared running it makes it worth the money alone. He makes things happen.

Quoted from colonel_caverne:

bon flip

Ok in english
why all this mess ? just for a super LE which will cost an arm and aimed at customers handpicked ? certainly for wealthy friends or very good customers who have the means . a super LE for a super customer ! Stern does what he wants , even despise us. you also have this power.
in short, who cares . especially as the premium should be the same game as the LE and SLE with just less bling. but as always there will be future mods ..
need not worry, nor trigger eczema or hypertension for so little ... looking good there must be more important in life

"Pro" goes to operators and customer
"Premium" goes to customer
"LE" goes to collector
"SLE" goes for financial investments

Is Stern trying to find the limits of this market?

My daughter, who is a huge Batman fan, turned 16 this past Tuesday. This was her birthday video and present:

I don't see what the big deal is, I have zero interest in Batman 66 but it seems its a grail pin for a lot of u guys and I understand the excitement, pay in full for it before any pics of video and gameplay, why not? I did it with Alien, for me best theme to date, If Sterns next pin was Motorhead or Slayer, yep I'm paid in full for an LE before any reveal and there's so many more that will never happen for me but if they did I would go in blind, its a toy, its suppose to be fun, unless its a non-refundable deposit then who gives a shit? Ghosting and delays etc. aside this pin is sold out already for those of us that must have it, I get it and I say good for you, happy ur getting something that really ur passionate about.

Whomever at Stern came up with that idea deserves a punch in the face.

I think that's fine as long as you are fine with taking the risks involved and living with the consequences. Code is the biggest issue. What kind of incentive will Stern have to devote code resources to a game that's already sold out. I'm sure it will be like every other game Stern releases.... Collector's will be in a frenzy to buy it, they will rank the game #1 on the Pinside top 100 list, and then 3-6 months later all you will hear is complaints about how the code isn't finished and the game is collecting dust in their gameroom. Why not make Stern work for your sale by forcing them put out a quality product from day one with great code. Now is the time to buy games like Met and TWD that already have great finished code and reward Stern for a job well done. Let sales suffer on the new games until code is complete and give Stern some incentive to actually devote the code resources needed to complete the game.

Yea, not until after expo. They want to make sure the topic is about the new game and not a ghosted playfield.

#1721 3 years ago

I agree, the first pics/videos of Batman 66 will be on October 14th at the Stern reveal, since pictures/vids are no longer allowed at the Stern tour.

I hope it's ran better than his Vanilla Ice "epic party". It was a good time but severely unorganized. It looks like a lot of the same acts from that party are making an appearance at the Stern party.

I agree, I don't buy new Sterns anymore, I'll wait a year at least for code to mature, gives me time to play it and make a sound decision, but if it was a theme that I knew I wanted the best possible example then yeah I'm going in blind as a bat, seems the issue is other people hating the fact that either some folks have the money to do this and its keeping prices high well I get that too and if I had a real problem I just wouldn't buy new games or leave the hobby. Makes no difference to me and you can't fault Stern for charging these prices and getting the sales, how could you?

Quoted from Mr68:

What r u saying that this isn't going to happen or the game will be crap? If it doesn't and I get screwed that's my business, I find that and a poor playing pin to be extremely unlikely. Although I had high hopes for TH and man was that a let down for me anyway, so you never know. Its a lot like video games this pinball thing in terms of normally I wait a year for a game to drop in price and have the bugs worked out etc. yet there are some that I must have right away like GTA and will actually spend the money on it, its games and toys its supposed to be fun.

Maybe I am crazy.

This is a dream theme for me.

Two days ago I had no shot at a Super LE.

Today I have a shot. I sent my application.

To quote Hamilton - "I'm not throwin' away my shot. I'm just like my country, young, scrappy and hungry."

I am happy just to have a chance. OK, the "young" part is a lie.

For some reason, I just appreciate that they are giving me a chance.

Stern Pinball in Collaboration with Ka-Pow Pinball Celebrates 30 Years in Business with Release of Batman ‘66 Pinball Game!
Holy Golden Anniversary, Iconic Batman TV Show Turns 50!
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL – September 15, 2016 – Stern Pinball, Inc., the world's oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball machines, proudly announced today the availability of its highly anticipated Batman ‘66 Anniversary Edition pinball machine.
Stern Pinball is celebrating its 30th year in business and the 50th anniversary of the iconic American TV series with an Anniversary Edition pinball machine featuring the world famous “Dynamic Duo” of Batman and Robin. The game will immerse players in campy fun and heart-pounding action as the crime fighting Dynamic Duo comes to the aid of the Gotham City Police. Throughout the game, Batman and Robin work to deduce clues and discover super villain plots in an effort to thwart evil plans and capture bad guys. Players are guided through the game by the voices of none other than the original Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward.
A Hall of Fame pinball development team created the all new Anniversary Edition machine. The project was inspired by Joe Kaminkow of Ka-Pow Pinball and spearheaded by Stern Pinball product development chief, George Gomez, who, along with renowned programmer, Lyman Sheats, brought the game to life.
In addition to the fun title and game experience, the machine features a full color high definition display replacing the dot matrix display. In conjunction with Stern’s new SPIKE-2 electronic pinball platform, the display enables high definition graphics and innovative animations. This enables the game to feature actual TV footage from the iconic series. The game includes a second high definition display on the playfield as part of an interactive game feature.
"We are very proud to celebrate our 30th year in business by making a 50th anniversary Batman ‘66 game in collaboration with our good friend, Joe Kaminkow. Joe, who was instrumental in starting Stern Pinball 30 years ago and served as our company’s very first game designer, is now one of the gaming industry’s leaders,” said Gary Stern, Chairman and CEO of Stern Pinball, Inc.
Pricing and Availability:
The Batman ‘66 Anniversary Edition pinball machine will be available in Premium, Limited Edition, and Super Limited Edition models. The company has no current plans to produce a Pro model.
In celebration of Stern Pinball’s 30th anniversary and Batman’s 50th anniversary, Stern Pinball will build a Super Limited Edition model. The Super Limited Edition model also includes a one-of-kind art package plus multiple translites, a unique included topper and accessories package, and a high-fidelity 3-channel audio system that is three times more powerful than audio systems of previous generations. The Super Limited Edition model will be allocated by invitation and through an application process open to pinball collectors. Collectors can apply for a Super Limited Edition model by completing and submitting an application located at www.Batman66Application.com. Applications are due by 11:59 pm CST on September 30, 2016.
The Limited Edition model will be offered in two series of 120 games each. Each game in the first series will be named for one of the 120 episodes of the television show. Each game in the second series will be named for one of the iconic “bat gadgets” used in the series. In total, only 240 Limited Edition machines will be produced.
All purchasers who make a deposit on their game will also receive a VIP invitation to an exclusive “meet and greet” with Batman (Adam West) at the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel in Wheeling, Illinois during the weekend of Chicago’s Pinball Expo.
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price:
Premium Model: $US 8,599
Limited Edition Model: $US 9,999
Super Limited Edition Model: $US 14,999
The Premium and Limited Edition models of the Batman ‘66 Anniversary Edition pinball game will be available through authorized Stern Pinball distributors and dealers around the world. Please contact your distributor or dealer for more information. The Super Limited Edition model will be available direct from Stern Pinball.

Holy f'ing sh*t Batman! $1000 dollar bump on the Premium. If this is the new level across the board for Premiums going forward I am priced out of Stern NIBs for sure.

Quoted from Air_Pinball:

Finally! Prices!

Wow! $1004 increase over the previous game (GB) for a Premium and a $1204 increase on the LE. I guess we now have our answer on how much extra Stern is going to charge for the first LCD game! Premium price is basically what the LE price was before. Hopefully Pro price does not follow suit on the next Stern release as that is the only reasonable option left.

Remember, there are 2 LCD's in this model.....whatever that means. But with that said, it is a stiff price jump. If the LCD is indeed the major cause of the jump, then you could probably estimate 500 to 700 permanent increase per model once things settle back down. And as much as we will all gripe, the price will be paid. The 10K by Christmas is more of a reality than folks think.

Stern just commented on their FB post that we won't see the game until October 14th. Looks like it's going to be a long month until then...

#1745 3 years ago

As an added benefit...those of you that did not get in on the LE runs will most likely have some open up for purchase. You might want to call your distributor and ask them to put you on a list. Given this pricing, I am betting several folks will back out (many distros were offering refunds on the deposits), and I doubt those that were buying to flip are going to be so eager to lay out the cash since there is going to be a very limited group of consumers. Gomez said they didn't want people flipping them, and this is their way of making sure the flipping slows down. Just price them where fewer folks will be able to afford them. As I have said many times, they are not stupid, and they read these forums. They saw what was happening to the GBLE's and what folks were getting for them. Sadly, we are our own worst enemy.

#1749 3 years ago

These prices were kinda what I was expecting. It's kinda sad to see that such a small percentage of a very niche community will be able to buy new pins anymore. Just think how many great older titles you could buy with that cash. This is a dream title for me so I'm in. But for sure this will be my last nib purchase from Stern.

It's kind of awesome.

I Am genuinely curious to see if they can move these games at these prices.
