    Quoted from phillyfan64:

So I’m hoping to finally get my 20’ x 20’ basement finished. Just wondering what’s the general opinion on insulation? It’s cinder block walls, mostly below grade. I’m getting 2 schools of thought from contractors. Some say it’s not needed. What do you guys think? Is it needed and if so what type? Foam board, spray, fiberglass? I don’t have any water issues but I do have one area that has some chalky looking appearance along the bottom of the cinder blocks. Any opinions welcomed please.

I did pink foam board, probably not needed but there were incentives from the state to do it so I did it. Spray foam would probably be overkill IMO...honestly check your local code but you could probably get away without it.

For me, it added like 2% on to the cost of the project so at that price i said why not.
