    Hi everybody,

Just started to build my new gameroom. It`s going to be a long road. Hopefully it will be finished
    in April.
The guys started digging, and using dynamite to remove the rocks. (too bad i was at work, always great seeing things get blown up).

Hoping to get some ideas from fellow pinsiders when i start to decorate it.

Until then, here are some pictures of the build for the interested.

    Here is the before picture:

Two Shadows out of four pins, you have great taste.

    Thanks for the heads up!
    A typo sneaked in... It's T3...
But since it has the Aurich treatment, it counts as two

    Nice to hear futurepinhead!

Is your house on bedrock? That's a tough build. I'll keep watching.

If you want to build a basement in Norway, you have to be
    Prepared to use some dynamite
And because of the cold climate, I have to have isolation.

The digging trough the solid mountain took about 1,5 week.
The rest has so far taken 1,5 week.

Ah Norway, land of the midnight sun. Feels like Norway here right now, up to a foot of snow on the ground and tonight it's going down to 5 degrees which is cold here for this time of year. Is the sun still up at this time of year for you?

    #14 9 years ago

Yeah it is still shining through at times, except when it is clouded like fuck like today. But winter is coming, and the winds of winter are cold

    #15 9 years ago

Looks good so far. I would put a doorway on the right side though next to the existing basement door side. Just for convenience.

    #16 9 years ago

Wow! All I wanted to do was wall of half the garage not blow things up!

Hi everybody, this took a long time, but the build is slowly moving forward.

right now, the basment is done and dry. Next week i will start with the drywalls and eventually
    the floor heating and electrical.
The mancave will double as a living room since we ar remoddeling the whole house.
But it will soon be all games and fun.

Here are some pictures of the work up till this point:

The room will be 19,4m2 or 208ft2 depending on where you live.

    #21 9 years ago

Almost the size of a master bedroom.

    #22 9 years ago

    Yeh,

    The room will be 6.9 X 2.70 meters or 228" X 810".

So i am thinking about a setup like this. Any other suggestions would be great!

    Skjermbilde 2015-01-10 kl. 15.34.19.pngSkjermbilde 2015-01-10 kl. 15.34.19.png

The tables and chair will be where the music "studio" is. My computer and synths.
The rest of the room is for pinball.

Would like to fit in a small couch. But if not, i will just go for bar solution on one of the walls.

    All suggestions are wellcome!

    Looks like a tight fit!

    #25 9 years ago

Why did you settle on 8' and not 15'?

    #26 9 years ago

It would be great to fit 5 games in there, but I can live with only 4. I think that 6 of them would be stretching it. There has to be room for me there as well

    #27 9 years ago

Hi Magic_Mike, the guys had to use explosives to make it this big, the house is built on Bedrock, so
it really was a cost issue. So i have to make it work, but it would be great to have 20 machines at home!

Make it work within your budget. This is a $50K project where I live.

Are you doing any of the work yourself?

    #29 9 years ago

It will be an expensive project in the end, but we will make it work...
The room like it is now is where I am going to do the rest of the work.

Can't wait to see how it turns out!

    #31 9 years ago

That's about the best layout, no room for a bar really.

    #32 9 years ago

I think a bar would be too much, but just something along one of the walls to put your drink down, and maybe some bar stools would work out.
It would be great if i could fit in 6 games. So maybe i have to get my priorities straight and
    kick out the music part

    Damn!

I just added 1200 sq ft to my house and it ran me $80K.

    #35 9 years ago

    oh…. lets not talk budget….
right now we are looking at 240k $ for the whole building.
this includes new bathroom, kitchen and 80m2 extra building including the game room.
It hurts, but we flipped an apartment and did a killing, so we can sort of afford it.
    sorta…

So the place will be paid in full when i turn 70, yay…

Wow, dynamite for the basement. We definitely have very different soil.

    #37 9 years ago

Hey AXL Thanks for sharing. We did a small 200 sg ft addition last year.It will try your patience for sure.Of course when it's over it will all be worth it.

I would have totally called off work that day!

I second that! Blowing stuff up is always entertaining!

    #40 9 years ago

I had to go to work that day they used the dynamite. And my girlfriend had to go catch the bus just when they startet, but she managed to hear the siren before the explosion.
I am still impressed that they could use dynamite that close to the house!

    Small update today:
The electrician has put the cables up, i was still unsure about the breaker, they way it was
layed out was 16A for the whole room including floor heating.
And doing the math, that is going to be a problem, so they will install another one with 16A more.
We only have a total of 65A into the house, but i think we will manage.

So i have ordered all the materials i need for det gameroom and the kitchen, and that arrived today.
All the tools are ready for tomorrow when we start with the drywalls.

Just a quick question to people popping in.
Where i live, the housing price is 5400$ per 1m2.

What is the price in the States and Canada?

Oh man your not gonna like what I'm about to tell you. My story and a half house was built in 1943, 744sq ft main floor, 744 in basement and the half story is about 350 useable. The house was completly redone, everything you can think of was redone, it also has a 24x24x10 high ceiling 8 year old garage on a nice lot in St Paul. I payed 55k almost 3 years ago. So if you just go by the main floor it works out to be $74 per sq ft. If you go by total sq ft it's $30 per sq ft.

    You should move here.

A quick Google search found this. This is for new construction.

In the Midwest, a good guideline is to budget for $150 per square foot on the main floor, $100 per square foot for the second story and $50 per square foot for finished square footage in the lower level.

    #44 9 years ago

    Wow!

That is very cheap for a house, if i only thought of that sooner and relocated.
Or, simply that Norway is crazy expensive...

    #45 9 years ago

Hmm I will have convert to square metres. $9621 per square meter. Or, $272 per square foot. Housing is ridiculous here. And I live a in a shitty house.

    #46 9 years ago

That's almost the same dimensions as my game room which is 8' 6" x 25' 6". It was an attic conversion and there was a main support beam that prevented me from making it wider. The door into the attic area is 3' in from one end so I have room to fit 6 pins plus 2 slot machines in a row. You may be able to fit 5 pins in your main row.

I've considered putting a 6" or so bar shelf for drinks and stuff on the wall opposite the pins but it would make it more difficult to move them around and take out the glass. You have a few more inches to work with though.

Haha yeah over here in Norway we have so much hard historical and cultural viking beneath the ground we have to blow into sanddust before building

Haha probably better than the gumbo clay soil here. Basements aren't too stable here.

    #50 9 years ago

Australian build cost about 100 to 150 aud per square ft.

High end easily get to 200 to 250 aud a square foot.
