CPR Playfield clear coat should have had enough time to harden up.

Double check the position of the post hole to the right of the ramp.

Good luck mate

Could a fellow owner tell me what is the height of a Banzai from the tallest point of the head to the lower edge of the cabinet straight down from that point on the head?

I’m wondering with the head up and legs off, if it will clear the door on an enclosed U-Haul 5 x 8 trailer with a door clearance of 4’10”.

Added 145 days ago:

I can verify that this machine can fit inside of a 5 x 8 U-Haul trailer with the head up, legs off of course. It clears the roll up door by 1-2”. Short distance haul on smooth roads.

57”

We’ve moved into 5th place!

New oak rails, most ball guides and GI wiring strings are installed.

We’ve moved into 4th place!

The wiring harness and light boards survived the dishwasher and the other assemblies have been cleaned up (ultrasonic cleaner when possible) and rebuilt. New foam backing for the recycled stand up targets. The Yellow Belly targets were replaced.

I will start soldering and making other adjustments over the next couple of days.

Does anyone here have a good picture of the upper right, ramp mounted playfield plastic? Mine is scratched and chipped.

It appears to have been shifted to account for the chipped off piece. Also it appears to be missing a stand off and it is notably above the mounting point built into the backboard.

About to join the club tomorrow! Machine looks to be in very nice condition. Besides standard things to look at...anything specific to a BR I should keep a lookout for?

Fair going price for a clean player's condition machine with no playfield wear?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Check the ramp for cracks where the ball hits it on its return from the upper playfield.

Also, examine the lift mechanism and its magnet assembly well. This is prone to breakage when the machine is handled incorrectly.

And the price? In this current environment? Pfff... I'll let somebody else answer that question. Although I can say that a clean original machine without any playfield wear is a rarity nowadays.

Good luck on your pickup! Share some pictures.

Joined the club! 2 hour drive near Antwerp, Belgium...rescued this BR from a gentleman who bought it for his son 20 years ago and it had been there ever since. Looks like it hasn't been played in 5+ years. Great transaction!

The good: the cabinet is near perfect with only a small 2" ding on the bottom of the head. Alkaline batteries look 10 years old but hadn't leaked at all. No playfield wear!

The bad: game is DIRTY...but that's how I like to buy them. Dirty and cheap! Mylar is bubbled over inserts and around pops. GI connector fried. A few plastics are cracked. PinballCenter here in Germany sells all of the plastics (separately).

The ugly: the upper playfield subway ramp is cracked at the bottom. A few inserts are slightly raised.

All stuff I've dealt with before. This is gonna be fun! Only other crappy thing is that I think my arcade ceiling is too low for me to open the head with the legs installed! That's a minor inconvenience....I have a BANZAI RUN!!

Hey, you even got the glass channel piece! I was going to mention that that is something to look for.

#366 3 months ago

Happy to report that I was able to remove all of the delaminating & bubbled mylar with virtually no paint lifting. The playfield is in great condition with no wear at all.

I have re-leveled all of the raised inserts, repainted the black keylines, and cleared over the inserts. Tomorrow a few coats of wax and then reassembly can begin.

Something that I amazes each time I play Banzai Run is the apparent randomness of the Freestyle kicker. Some of the ejects go right up the top and hit the red targets, whilst others are quite low powered and barely make it out of the eject slot. Is this something that was programmed or just random variations?

Restored my banzai run it took me 3 months but i can now join the club

Great collection BTW...we have similar tastes!

Still in the process of restoring my Banzai Run. I may need a few pictures from you guys. Where's the best place to buy ground wire at?

What am I missing here to attach the head? First picture is of the base of the head. This is a game i am trying to restore but something is missing. Looks like there are supppse to be bolts in the back area of head too. I am not even sure if the bolts that are in are correct either. Lol

Alright got the head on, went and bought some carriage bolts this evening. Probably don't have the correct pivot bolt. If anyone has any info on the correct one send me a picture.

The one higher up is for the pivot of the upper playfield. The lower one in your picture lines up with the cabinet to lock the head into place when raised.

I’m having an issue where the ball lifter drops the ball too early and it misses the ramp. Any idea what might cause it or how to fix it it, it seems to happen every time now,

Check the upper limit switch. It may be bent or misadjusted so it triggers the release too early. Just a guess though.

So does anyone know the story with the playfield marking of all the wiring connections on this game? These look hand written but are screened on the playfield. Never seen that before on a game.

New member just joined the club yesterday! I haven't read anything yet, spent the first day just cleaning and inspecting. A few things I learned within the first few hours:

- Needed to adjust the inlane kickout, it now goes directly to Banzai Hill 95% of the time
- My ball elevator was getting stuck on the cables going up and down, with some strategically placed zip ties I seem to have fixed it but if anyone has a picture of a clean fix I would be highly appreciative of the photo share. I don't want it pulling too tight, but also if too loose it gets stuck easily.
- Had to adjust the ball guide on the "1 lap" section, it now will fall on the ideal flipper spot upon exit.

I was going to splurge on the CPR mirrored backglass and bezel but mine are in really nice shape so I will hold off for now.

To me this game drives like a longboard skateboard on smooth blacktop (on the main playfield) and like mayhem on the backbox. I don't find the backbox too challenging, as I was a little worried after reading reviews that the backbox section was impossible. It is not...I am already getting good at defeating Yellow, Blue and Green...and can often make my way up to the top to try to defeat Red. It's only been a day, but I have yet to finish first in the race. This will happen this weekend for sure!
