Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:This auction deserves its own documentary.
The market has been strapped to a rocket and launched into space.
and then turned into the Sun and exploded !
Quoted from LTG:Any parts seller. Manufacturer. Tech Support. Mod maker. These idiots will search Google for pinball and call any phone number they find for help.
LTG : )
On a positive note: I charge 4k for an in house service call on 10K Rockys.
Quoted from MtnFrost:Auctioneer: $3,500 Internet Bidder 4867
Auctioneer: $3,000 Internet Bidder 4376
Auctioneer: $2,500 Internet Bidder 4867
Auctioneer: $2,000 Internet Bidder 4376
Auctioneer: $1,500 Internet Bidder 4867
Auctioneer: $1,000 Internet Bidder 4376
Another pin on my list, not going to happen. Two bidders who then just drop out.
two man shill team working overtime
Quoted from Nintendosteve:Well I can tell you being a volunteer tech out there...
Yeah I figured each of these machines will need a gallon of Novus and a saddlebag full of fuses.
Somethings up when a non booting, missing sideart, no marquee DK cabinet sells for $2375 after fees and taxes. (lot 297)
EDIT: you can go the website and click on Catalog to see the winning bid for each title/lot
So Bidder 1863 final won a bid after bidding on 430 different lots
EDIT: I'll bet 10 bucks Stargazer "shows back up" next week.
Major stalling on that Freefall. Luckily bidder 1959 got it at 4K. He's been bidding all night - good for him.
usually At Auctions ...
18% buyer fee
10% seller listing fee
3% credit card fee (sometimes)
EDIT: In some cases you (as a bidder) can be unknowingly bidding against a house bidder that doesn't have to pay the 18% due to a prior agreement with the Auctioneer.
Quoted from o07eleven:Yeah, if it's a negotiated fee. It makes sense. Just doing the buyer fee is a way to get people to overpay and not factoring in 18% + 7.25% tax, so they just keep bidding and forgetting they have a couple grand in tax and fees after the sale is done. I just thought 18% buyer's fee would be enough of a fee for them, but I guess not.
This is my first Captain's but are people still paying market value for stuff and forgetting about the ~26% in fees/taxes? Or is just that this is such a highly marketed auction that shit's insane. Like, on any other day would a $5k market game go for basically $4k in an auction?
For example: If I bring 1 machine to auction, I can't fight the 10% entry fee, but if I'm bringing 10 machines, then I'm not paying the 10%in or the 18%out on anything I buy because that's the prearranged deal we've worked out before I even head to the auction house.
It's interesting that most of the lots today only had about 5 or 6 bidders. A repeating pattern of just the 2 pumpers and then about 4 new bidders in the last two minutes on each lot. I expected 15 to 20 bidders to be the norm. Maybe the arcades will bring out more bidder activity.
Quoted from palmab03:This could also just be how their software displayed multiple bids. You'd presume there would be 10+ people bidding $500-$2,000, for example. So it just picks the 2 highest initial bids and lists them.
You may be correct.
