Quoted from HEAD_boss_HOG:

I might have to make a trip to ann arbor. If I wasn't such a Michigan Wolverine hater, I would buy my tix tonight.
looking forward to their advertised show here on pinside. Do they publish or advertise the show, and what is the website for the event?

Ann Arbor VFW Pinball Museum & Pinball Repair

http://vfwpinball.com/

and

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/ann-arbor-michigan-vfw-pinball-show

Advertising is pretty much limited to Pinside.

Clay is delaying ticket sales this year in case he has to pull the plug due to –D. We are expecting to be sold out very very quickly (well we hope). In previous years, the show has sold out months advance.

Proof of COVID vaccination is required to enter the parking lot, and yes this requirement is absolutely legal. VFW is private property, 100% owned by Clay. All of us VFW minions…oops I mean *members*… are vaccinated.

BTW: Technically located in Green Oaks Township, 15 Miles north of Ann Arbor. Clay could have named it “Green Oaks VFW” but there’s probably 20 other “Green Oaks” scattered around the USA. Only one Ann Arbor.

Stay in Brighton, MI., a nice city north of the VFW (and closer then AA)

I’m trying to figure out how much time an auction will take.

“chuckcasey” said that there were 780 pins.

X 4 minutes per pin auction time is 3900 minutes or 52 hours!

Holy crap!

Then:

For me to drag a trailer form SE Michigan to Banning will be 6 days of travel x $160 per deim/day. Add $900 of diesel fuel. Two day per deim at Banning for another $320. Total before biding: @2,200 ish. Plus add in the bar tab....

Double Holy crap!

Quoted from jrpinball:

Call the Department of Redundancy Department!

oopsie...guilty as charged charged.

#305 2 years ago
Quoted from bob_e:

For that kind of money think about this... Why drag a trailer? Why spend six days driving?
Buy a round trip airline ticket, rental car, lodging.
Get a PODS shipping unit. Find out how many pins will fit in it....

Good points, except for: Where do I drop the POD for several days while I bid, break down and move out the games?

My point is that the auction can be logistical nightmare for a buyer unless you’re local and looking at only a few games.

#330 2 years ago
Quoted from bob_e:

Well where were you planning to park your truck and trailer, if your were to drive out there?

During the day, on the street, probably a half mile away or more.

At the motels there and back, I will assume you need permission to park a 45' lg rig in there lot.

Pods can just be dropped on the street. MOP has *some* parking room in there lot but I would assume they would charge for it.

So yes, a logistical problem to make participating happen.

#354 2 years ago
Quoted from bob_e:

Why not buy five pins via internet bidding, pay NAVL $2250 ($450 per game estimate) to ship the games to you ?
Are you REALLY planning on going?

As a general rule I do not buy games I have not personally looked at.

Whom do I have take care of game break down and preparing for shipment?

So yes, a logistical problem to make participating happen.

So no, I'm REALLY NOT planning on attending.

Quoted from PinBallPeteFromSD:

GD, people will find a reason to bitch about everything.

Your trying to auction off what?? $1,000,000+ worth of games and you can't take the time to present the terms of sale in some sort of reasonable / professional manner?

WFT, how long would it take to get rid of the unnecessary carriage returns?

It make you look like your try to hide something, or just careless.

#366 2 years ago
Quoted from nsduprr:

WTF: Next time try making it harder to read.

For example, read with some line breaks only:

#4 ALL ITEMS MUST BE REMOVED FROM LOCATION within 5 business days.
Removal for paid Lots will be until 10:00 pm PST day of Sale.
Removal will commence the Next day after the sale is completed.
REMOVAL HOURS are posted in auction details.
Removal MUST BE COMPLETED within three (3) days or appoinment only within two (2) days following or Penalty Fees can apply.

So is the removal time 5 days or 3 days? If I make and appointment (spelled correctly) then I must be out by 2 day's?

I could go on an on like: What are the "Penalty Fees (caps not mine)?, and three opposing statements on removal hours, and other "read the auction terms" hidden terms.

You need a better lawyer

9. Bidders can not wear cargo shorts.
Have to go deep pinside for that joke. Levi?

Apologies first too be political correct.

Petes not auctioning the games, he just shared some info.
Damn people are bitchy lately...

Not bitchy, just trying to get correct and consumable information that most people can understand.

If "PinBallPeteFromSD" is not officially part of the auction management, he should state so, or be quiet.

nsduprr man your a salty dog man. How about you thx for the info or don't fing say anything at all. You sound like a 10 year old bitchin that you got sugar smacks instead of frosted flakes. It's pinball dude I think there are a few more serious things to get pissed about than pinball try saying thank you sometime or just don't say anything at all.

Yes, salty AND an old dog. Bitchy yes. My boss, before I retired, paid me extra for those qualities.

Information is great... if it correct.

Info is only good if it's from the person in charge of the auction. From another thread:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/an-insider-s-guide-to-the-banning-museum-of-pinball-machines
OK. "PinBallPeteFromSD"

OK the information is *good*

It still does not excuse the poor presentation.

BTW: I attended MOP the first year with Clay H., Tim A. and Mike S. Although I don't rise to the lofty heights of these greats, I'm not a door knob either.

BTW: I like Coco Puffs

No, I'm not *pissed* and it's not just *pinball dude*

It's about doing a sale above board with all the terms and conditions CLEARY stated from the official source. Not side bar posts from close insiders and no "read the auction T&C's"

I've seen friendships die do to poor understandings of the terms a pinball deal/sale.

BTW: Thank you to Clay H., Tim A., Mike S. and KOZ (rip) for all you have done to keep pinball alive.

Correction: I'm not implying that the pending auction is "below board". I apologize for my poor choice of words.

Beer makes me burp to much and fart.

THC make me have the munchies. Bad for my A1C. I leave that to the younger generation.

BTW: The supervisor that hired me died 30 year ago. Subsequent supervisors loved me because I could be a prick and also be right .
