Could be more Whales joining the pod today?

Isn't kinda stinky to hold the event on the 911 anniversary? People should be thinking about that 1st not Pinball.

#1406 2 years ago

Point taken.

#1407 2 years ago
Quoted from FlippyD:

It is possible to acknowledge the past and also move on with the present.

For me 911 is not a good day at all, I do see your point however.

Quoted from Rarehero:

Multitasking, bruh!
Are businesses closed today? Are you staying home all day? C’mon.

Not going anywhere unless I'm forced out the door

Should the auctioneer leave the country for about a year?

#3175 2 years ago
Quoted from pinball2020:There are some big, newer machines remaining in the second half of the auction so that may justify sticking around for two weeks or travel around the region doing gigs and then returning for the auction.

I would do the gigs

#3176 2 years ago

Find the bargain machines you want on Facebook marketplace or Kijiji (Canada) Most people selling have no clue about this auction.or pricing or really care.

#3182 2 years ago

Not eBay or an auction.

Quoted from John_I:

I'm not agreeing with all this doomsday talk. Sure this auction will have an effect when it comes to the hobby as a whole, but actual selling prices (not asking prices) will continue to be controlled by two things:
1. Price
2. Demand
That said, "the auction" will almost certainly bring some new people into the hobby. So if prices go up it is because of more demand and not the selling prices at this auction. New people to the hobby have deeper pockets because they don't already have 15 pins in their back room like I do. Back in the day 10-20 years ago, I went to at least a dozen auctions here in Orlando and never bought single pin because the prices+auction fees was too much. Many new people bought the games and learned a lesson upon entry into the hobby. Prices have steadily increased since then directly proportional to the number of new people entering the hobby.

Facebook marketplace and craiglist/kijji determine prices too. I would guess most people would check kijji first to determine price ..guess on the condition without knowing the true value.

Quoted from ClarkGriswold:

That's a fair point. Bob, you'll need to run it as a charity to get maximum value.
Here's the jingle:
1 877 PINS4KIDS
P - I - N - S - PINS - 4 - KIDS
1 877 PINS4KIDS
DONATE YOUR PIN TODAY
^I hope some of you actually get this reference, which is obviously meant to be a joke.

That's hilarious!

Is there a ratio of Whale bids...If just a few raising bids then bailing? Was this pre planned like a jewel heist? I just feel bad for the community.
We deserved at least a few and I would feel happy for the winners .

Hope everyone so far receives their game working. If not..that would be lame..esp. For 1 time buyers or newbies would be a disaster.
If the person/people are honest I would fix for free within reason ..well mabey a shasta or preferred beer.
