Quoted from vicjw66:

Idk, they didn’t build that many of them. Pretty boring as far as pinball goes.

He's talkin bout the vidya version.

Quoted from OLDPINGUY:

How many Licensed Vids were made for Star Wars?

I had the late 90's SEGA Star Wars Trilogy arcade machine. Namco Arcades were selling a ton of those back 15-ish years ago for cheap.

#1712 2 years ago
Quoted from FlippyD:

Nice battle to get both of the Mario Karts. $10k + fees for the set.

Even ebay has pairs come up for under 8k.

#1726 2 years ago

Maybe these common arcade machines will put the casuals to sleep before the rest of the pins go.

#1750 2 years ago

Which one of you just got banned?

Quoted from LTG:

I heard the tail end of that. Didn't hear the why.
LTG : )

Looked like he was looking at his screen while he said that. Mean words?

#1760 2 years ago

Tell me what you know about King & Balloon.

#1764 2 years ago

How much is a new Golden Tee these days? 4k?

#1782 2 years ago
Quoted from ForceFlow:

I think the trick is also a considerable amount of advertising.

No kidding. The auctions in Winston-Salem and Tennessee have some high prices, but never double or triple typical prices found on here at the time.

#2367 2 years ago

For the same amount of money, an average example of many of these could’ve been bought and sent to HEP and the buyer would’ve had a true museum piece worthy of the hammer price.

#2439 2 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

That’s why it’s fishy. I understand rich newbs overpaying….but for DE & Sega games? At these prices? Why? There can’t be that many people who’d fight over these common mostly shitty games. It doesn’t add up.

What adds to the "uniqueness" of these high prices is that it's across the board. At random auctions that are well publicized on auctionzip a few games will bring high prices like a Rolling Stones or Gottlieb Incredible Hulk since those themes are universally known, but will cool off if a random EM is thrown into the mix like a Bronco. Only logical explanation I can think of is a bunch of agents for bored athletes and other mega-rich folks are assuming these are museum-quality examples and the only point of reference they can find are prices from the highest of retail pricing from a lazy Google search.

I got a bid in on Stargazer. Well under what it sold for, but I wanted to beat out the usual bidders with an early token bid.

#2514 2 years ago

Almost won that Nine Ball...

#2521 2 years ago

Come on Pinsiders, bring that Big Game home!

#2527 2 years ago
Quoted from gonzo73:

Sorry on the Nine Ball, it's my favorite Stern.
Hope you find one.

I didn't really want it, especially if another Pinsider really wanted it!

#2537 2 years ago

Free Fall more than Nine Ball?!

Quoted from o07eleven:

Well, hopes crushed on Doctor Who. I don't remember seeing the "potential prototype" in the description. To me, that doesn't add value to me, but I see color display as well since I know those had monochrome. Do they all have diamond plate on them too? This is just a game I want in the collection, but the price it went for was 8k and they didn't even give the $500 increments to drop down to +$100 before they sold it. They could have milked a few hundred more out of it or get people +100 on it back and forth.

The moving topper is something you should research. It was not the same as a common Dr. Who.

No mention of ColorDMD on TotAN

#2794 2 years ago
Quoted from Knxwledge:

I am really bummed I completely missed out on Super Auction. That shit sounds like the GOAT "blah blah blah SOLD", move onto the next one.

My first SuperAuctions here the local collectors were all buddies and let me win an Arkanoid for $80 since they knew I was trying to get started in the hobby. You think that shit would fly with all of the greed today?

#2816 2 years ago
Quoted from LOTR_breath:

I agree. Does anyone really think this one auction will have any meaningful and long lasting effect on pinball prices? I don't see how it will.

Weren't collectors fearing Gene Cunningham's estate sale crashing the hobby?

#2868 2 years ago
Quoted from xsvtoys:

Couple of decent Playboys for sale right now on Pinside for the 3000 range, you could buy one, ship it HEP, and end up with a real museum piece for what that one sold for.

A super nice HUO Playboy sold here at retail for $4k recently. I think it sat for a few months at that price. It looked and played great.

#2898 2 years ago

Alright, who beat me on the Dragon Fist?

#2918 2 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

That game is trash. Worst Gottlieb ever made. I can hook you up with like 12 of them. Total garbage. It’s a $500 game all day long

Send one my way, I like cheese.

#3280 2 years ago

Did the museum ever have a Stern Cheetah? They had quite an assortment of Sterns from that era, but wondering if one exists in storage since I didn't see that title up for auction.

$10,100 Sopranos

I'm not fluent in binary, how much was it?

#3832 2 years ago
Quoted from RyanStl:

ACDC BIB gets love at 18,500, hammer. I didn't see that coming.

Those Aussies love their AC/DC

#3840 2 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

30 games to go to PTC !
LTG : )

I have my coupons ready!

#3846 2 years ago
Quoted from Asmig:

I'm trying to determine the age of the buying demographic here, I think Batman 66 will be revealing.

Terminator 2 as well. I think that will go for $8,500+ just because of theme for the younger money.

welp...

#3903 2 years ago

They should've put the Caddyshack translite in the NGG--instant 15k.

#3913 2 years ago

Mushroom World--the only pin I ever sold because I beat the game.

#3917 2 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I wanted one for so long... then I finally played it.

I remember the video mode was kinda fun once or twice with the basic level of Mario and the flipper buttons made him jump.
