A small group of us AZ members took a number of trips there some years ago to help work on the arcade portion of the museum. Coindork grilled burgers and dogs and we laid out sleeping bags on floor of that very arcade. Good times. Hate to see it go if things don't work out. At least we got memories.

Quoted from Reality_Studio:

Morongo Casino was close by and had some good food options.

I really liked that diner across the street from the Morongo gas station but on my last trip thru there I was bummed to see it closed.

I wish I had crossed paths there with some of the other folks that were there during the various repair visits. Good to hear from Robert.

What a cool place to just play and talk pinball. A shame to see it go.

For me (and certainly i know others) it was a labor of love working in that arcade room.

I dont get all bent out of shape over money, so i had no problem doing that work for free on my own time. The best part was working with others and bonding over our shared interest of arcades.

Good times in that place. Some goofy and oddball games we may never see again. The AC didnt always work and although no one complained it was sooo nice having those doors open at night.

Who else will be there?

You guessed it.

Frank Stallone.

Quoted from Heretic_9:

For anyone who's been out that way recently: Have buyers been picking up their purchases . . . in some orderly (?) manner, with overall progress ? Are they starting to clear out those halls at MOP ?

I saw some photos from a friend. Kinda sad to see all the empty spaces.

Quoted from EJS:

Well I don’t know about anyone else but I’m excited about this weekends festivities. It’s inevitably going to be another crazy weekend but I’m proud to see sales of games around here these last couple weeks are still reasonable for the given market. Obviously some spamming which has rightfully been overlooked.

It will be interesting to watch, thats for sure.

#3568 2 years ago

Anyone who viewed or participated in the first auction was constantly reminded by Chris about the 2nd weekend.

I do think there will be better chances for true collectors, but I have no doubt that there will be some high reserve bids like before.

Even with a potentially smaller audience than the 1st weekend, I think it will still be competitive, just hopefully with more real collectors getting some wins.

Who is David, the guy talking about the machines?

#3670 2 years ago

The guy on the floor might as well be yelling "derp" instead of "yep." Good lord.

Quoted from Heretic_9:

What is this "Typed in Bids Cannot Be Considered" response in the crawl, after you hit Send, on the liveauction page ?

You have to click the red bid button to bid. Some folks are sending dollar amounts.

#3930 2 years ago
Quoted from Karnov:

About 40 people.

How many of them are actively bidding? It seems like its just the "yup" guy vs. the internet bidders.

Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

I won something!

Well done!
It is a cool piece. Glad a collector got a rare win in this shit fest.

Pong is a household name and everyone with money knows what it is. That, combined with the way the auction has been going, i am not surprised it went that high.

Im standing next to the new owners of Sub Hunter.

Well done Coindork and son!

That was a fucking battle but that game is going to a good home now.

#4021 2 years ago

That Sub Hunter is the only one known in existence.

Quoted from Alpha1:

It isn't. I have an even nicer one. Happy to share pix.
I remember packing this one up that sold at Banning and sending it to the USA about 4 years ago.

Quoted from joemagiera:

I found one on an op raid in Canada in the late 1990's. I have pictures. I wonder if it's the same one. Played the game there. It was cool. I haven't checked in a long time, but I don't think it's in MAME.
Joe (joemagiera at Ameritech.net)

So theres 2 known, one shipped to the US (now at Banning) and possibly a 3rd example seen back in the 1990s in Canada.

I can only imagine how many have survived since their production in the late 70s. It seems like theres more of a chance to see a UFO than finding this game.

#4043 2 years ago
Quoted from Alpha1:

Just spoken to a Japanese collector friend and he says only 2 are known in Japan.
So that's a total of 4, or 5 if the Canada one doesn't turn out to be one of the 2 in Japan as I can vouch that the one I have I got from Germany and the Banning one came from the UK.

Curious if you know whatever happened to the game Bouncer?

Quoted from HighVoltage:

The other machine, besides Transporter, that I noticed was in unusually nice condition was the Stern NBA. $9,000 is a lot, but at least that one is what most are probably expecting of "museum quality."

That Transporter used to be mine. The PF had very minimal wear, was touched up and clearcoated. Played fast. One new ramp was installed and i believe there is another in the cab unless someone removed it.

#4099 2 years ago
Quoted from HighVoltage:

Nice, one of the few machines I thought went for a not unreasonable price. Did you sell it to John? For how much? I would have found that hard to let go!

Actually I took it to Captains a couple of years ago and John won the bid. I dont think it was too far off from what it sold for in this auction.

As far as being able to let it go, even after the work that was done to it, I just didnt think it had enough staying power for me. I didnt expect to ever own one but it popped up local for a nice price and had to have it. Love the theme and am proud to have owned it, but there were other games I wanted with limited space.

Over 5k donated from simpletons who can't resist the influence of a self-anointed celebrity in a hobby that never needed these characters in the first place.

What I don’t understand - when does it cost $15,000 to rent a truck?

It's not about the truck, it's about keeping the arcade dream alive!
