I am sad that this is the situation. As a tech who has been there for a few years, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the times and the great people. Nobody wanted it to go this way, but stuff happens. John took great care of us and showed his appreciation.
Quoted from uncivil_engineer:Ok, I have a question for everyone. There was a machine in the EM area that was space themed (sky lab or space mission?) that had an MP3 player inside of it that would play a continuous loop of CAPCOM/spacecraft radio exchanges. Does anyone know which machine that was? I always thought it was cool.
Williams Space Odyssey or Space Mission. Don't remember which.
Quoted from dsupica:I bought a free fall EM machine for $2700. If I would have bought from TNT or other locations then likely $4K.
So...feeling pretty good about it.
Does that seem outrageous to others?
Just curious on your thoughts.
You paid about 2000 too much.
Quoted from dsupica:Ok. Well if i knew ANYWHERE I could buy one for $700 then I am certain I would have already purchased it.
Do you know a place or person that sells for $700 because maybe I would like to have a spare machine?
I am still thinking prices two years ago. They will come back down eventually. Any retail place is going to overcharge.
Quoted from LORDDREK:I’m ok with the new prices. It is the cost of doing business these days.
What I am not ok with is the quality control. The missing coil sleeves. The poor welding. The weak ramps. Stuff not screwed in fully or plugged in wrong. Misalignment and errors. For the one current game I follow (Mando) the list seems endless. I pray by the time my pro is ready in the spring whoever is choading away on the assembly line is either gone or has gotten their shit together. Either way I will have a list of inspections and repairs to do before I plunge that first ball…
Well, I am not ok with these Covid inflated increases. Star Wars is now 8200. It was 7400. I will wait until the recession hits before I buy anymore games.
When we worked on machines on the "tech days" John provided lunch and drinks. There was always an hour or two at the end of the day to play any of the machines as well. We felt well taken care of. It was a great run. I am very happy to have been a part of it..
I would not be surprised if a lot of these were Banning machines being unloaded by the previous purchasers trying to recoup.
Yeah, a bunch of the same titles. The Banning prices were flat out stupid. Chris made a load of bucks!
