better actually be a time machine at that price.

Quoted from LTG:

Hard to troll when your charge card is on file to bid.
Like it or not, this is real.
LTG : )

Cards aren’t kept on file. You have to call them and pay with them over the phone. It’s very possibly to just create a fake account and bid stuff up and disappear. Wouldn’t be hard at all. Not that I think that’s what happening.

I just think a ton of new people are cashing out of other hobbies and coming in with a shit ton of money. Look at the classic video game market with the grading stuff and sealed gamesand the huge shit show that has turned into. I think much of the same is going to happen to arcades and pinball.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Well, I think I've had enough of this ridiculousness for one evening. I'll probably skim the hammer prices in the morning. Later folks--have fun

You went to bed as BTTF hitting 5 figures in 12 seconds.

#2054 2 years ago

I literally say "what the f*ck" out loud looking at the bttf prices

#2055 2 years ago

14k hammer price on BTTF

I cannot even

#2057 2 years ago

When are the classic sterne ? Lot numbers ?

#2058 2 years ago

Only 14K for Back to the Future? Makes my GNR LE purchase seem.... conservative

#2059 2 years ago

14k for BTTF. Stern you listening? Old tired theme huh. I think not so much

#2060 2 years ago

HOLY SHIT!!! JUST WOW. $14k FOR BTTF?!? JUST WOW!!!

#2061 2 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Golden Cue only 5.5k???

Supposedly only 10 of them. I was surprised it didn't go higher. Even with the fees and sales tax.

LTG : )

#2062 2 years ago

I have a BTTF upstairs I now live in fear from the lady who sold it to me

Perhaps the rarities can be swiped for decent prices? Seems these retail buyers don’t notice them

#2066 2 years ago

BTTF drop targets never reset. I couldn’t even get into multi ball. 14k craziness

#2067 2 years ago
Quoted from Slim2013:

When are the classic sterne ? Lot numbers ?

Scroll through the list at the lower right side. All there. Though many will not be tonight or tomorrow but in two weeks fri/sat/sun.

Quoted from xsvtoys:

Ok so.. DE Star Trek was next on my personal-interest spreadsheet, after the long past Nitro Ground Shaker.
I wrote in there, I would go for a max bid of $2025, or final cost $2,500.
The hammer was $7,400.
I’m starting to get this feeling I might not get any of the deals I was hoping for.

Every pin I've had on my list - BH, HH, Frankenstein, X-Files.....same realization.

#2069 2 years ago

What a pile of bullshit! Nobody is this stupid.

430's

#2071 2 years ago

I almost thought about bidding on Starlight. Oh well forget it

#2072 2 years ago

Don't hit that bid button by accident on this auction. It might cost you your house.

#2073 2 years ago

Add 18% to that $14,000 and the buyer is going to pay $16,520 plus shipping for that BTTF.

#2074 2 years ago

Think how much more most of these machines, vids and pins, would have gone for with a professional auctioneer, auction website, professional catalog, and, obviously, 100% reliable and more engaging auction stream.

This is sub-amateur hour and they are getting these prices... If someone actual knew what they where doing and had a polished sales pitch for each game...

I realize the scale of the auction makes some of the individual game details difficult but, as pointed out many times, with the $ at stake, that could have still been accomplished with a focused effort over the past 6+ weeks.

#2075 2 years ago

and don't sell it for a penny less. After all, after this auction, you can tell people "I KNOW WHAT I GOT! DON'T LOWBALL ME!"

#2076 2 years ago

Clearly Week made the right move liquidating this now. Apart from bettering the hobby and selflessly keeping it as a museum, why the f*ck wouldn’t he? Don’t know how the charity thing works over there…did he still own all the assets, not the charity?

#2077 2 years ago
Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Yeah I had the wrong place. Thats the one, looks awesome, wish it was mass produced.

It's being remade. See the threads here on Pinside.

Quoted from FIREPOWER1980:

Anyone who volunteered at the museum to fix these games at no cost should get a piece of this pie.

well, we did get pizza pies.

Quoted from Ivan1496:

Nobody is this stupid.

Bigger question is how did they and money to bid ever get together ?

LTG : )

#2080 2 years ago

BTTF was my first game. Paid $300. Could barely get $700 when I sold it.

#2081 2 years ago

Dude, if I was the owner, I'd be popping champagne bottles and showering everyone I saw with it like I was part of the Bulls in their glory days completing a 2x three-peat of NBA Final championships.

#2082 2 years ago

After seeing BTTF auction I looked on here and there is one here for 17k....is that an instant price adjstment?

#2083 2 years ago
Quoted from kst8cat:

You...you know there's tax on top, right? The buyer is paying over $17k.

He has other non-profits in the works. One involves 3rd world counties. A bunch of this money is going to that.

#2085 2 years ago

This reminds me of the South Park episode that mocks the Home Shopping Network for some reason.

#2086 2 years ago

Lol to all you guys thinking your games are now worth this. Unless you can magically generate this hype for your Pinside listing.

We had a similar thing in Australia last year - LLOYDS auctions which traditionally runs collectible car auctions, got on to Pinball. For the first few auctions they got a heap of National media coverage, and prices were ridiculous- exactly like this auction.

The local collectors were laughing, but also thinking their games were now worth these prices. Of course it didn’t affect the market much at all - just a blip. Prices are still ridiculous down here, but nothing like this.

#2087 2 years ago

3800 not bad for laser war all things considered

#2088 2 years ago

2959 and 2248 are bidding on almost everything.

#2089 2 years ago
