Quoted from Madmax541:We sure are.
Bring on those TAF projects
They should lots of projects when there 20k machines made in the world
Quoted from Playdium:They are out there. I received a call from someone that said they have a pinball machine they want removed. When I asked what the title was, they responded TAF. Currently under restoration.
Sounds like they are restoring it already
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:Got pics?
I've never seen that.
I will post later ,does anyone know why ,I am just looking too buy this machine ,my other TAF didn't have two
Quoted from fast_in_muskoka:I`ve only seen this in Canadian EM Gottliebs, where second transformer is a 110VAC to 110VAC isolation transformer . . .
Ya I have never seen this ether here a pic any idea why it has two ,is it from over seas maybe

. . . adds about 30 lbs of unnecessary weight too

Ya the one u have looks the same one on the left side
Quoted from fast_in_muskoka:Here`s the other side
I`ve never seen one of these isolation transformers on a Canadian TAF before.
I just remove them from my Gottliebs and sell them.[quoted image]
It sure does look like the same one that’s in the TAF I have never seen that before ,could this machine from over seas
Quoted from Coyote:One is likely an isolation transformer, which was (still is?) required in some Canadian provinces. A game I restored for someone, and later, a video I picked up with origins from the great white north had these. One older game (80's?) also had a small decal from the power supply company on it.
So from the pic of my what’s the reason having two ? the other TAF I had only had the one on the right side
Quoted from Williampinball:Who else here have two transformers in there TAF and what did u do with them
Anyone else has two transformers in there TAF
Quoted from pinballinreno:Thanks, I see it now.
It looks like they stepped the voltage down to 110v.
It doesnt have a factory part number on it, So it was done by the operator.
Ok so can the other one on the left side can be taking out some how
Quoted from pinballinreno:I imagine that the factory transformer (it has a sticker on it) is the correct one. But its wise to check the number on it to be sure.
Disconnect the transformer harnesses that go to the playfield. Do this first! Also remove the ribbon cables and disconnect one side of the big jumper connector that goes from the driver board to the CPU board. in the back box (just in case).
Then, I would pull out the added in transformer and check or re-wire all the power lines to the factory setup, from the wall cord, to the power box, to the factory transformer.
Check the voltage each step of the way.
Then of course, check the outputs of the factory transformer.
If it all looks good plug in the transformer harnesses that go to the playfield and check the voltage at the game power board etc.
It should be just fine if you checked it all the way thru.
Reconnect wires one by one (with power off). Do the ribbon cable last (with power off).
Ive had to do this on games that were missing the power box and transformer.
Ok thanks for the info bud
Quoted from Playdium:I can't believe some twit used the wrong screws to re-attach this bracket.

I know hey I had this happen a few time on games I don't get why people do this are u not thinking
Quoted from Playdium:Is this the tell tale sign of the magnet burn? How would you address this?
[quoted image][quoted image]
Yes looks like from a bulb over heating
Quoted from phylaxis:Just wanted to say hi. I’m hoping to be a future owner someday but tracking down a machine is hard. I fell in love with TAF in college. There was a machine in the student union and it took a lot of the few extra dollars I had in those days. It was totally worth it. Pretty much since then I’ve hoped to have one of my own. Enjoying all the pictures and stories here, so thanks!
Yes there is lots out there I have own one for 14 years and did a full restore too it enjoy it for many years and I wanted something else lol it's always the way and now I am looking again all over again

Quoted from mmr61184:$1000. That’s as bad as the dude trying to sell the Kruzman IJ for 5k

Quoted from mmr61184:Ah didn’t know that trick worked on all adhesives

Quoted from mmr61184:Ha I know I am being a crazy person. Either way I bought it so that’s what’s goin on the game
