Quoted from Barr993:

Has anyone checked out these ramps?
ebay.com link
They need new flaps, flasher sockets, decals but I'm surprised some haven't moved yet.
There were 12 available, then 11, now 12 so I wonder if one was bought then returned.

I can as with the missing parts the cost is very close to a new comple ramp. Also if I would purchase a new ramp I would rather purchase a clear style that is thicker than the original one. New ramps are around $130.

Question, have any of you TAF owners ever installed the newer latch/lock/lift system for the playfield that newer 90s Bally/Williams machines have in them? I am in the process and/or going to start a restoration on mine and would like to add this system as I dislike the access to playfield for repairs. If someone has would like to know what issues they ran into if any.

Cool looking mods! Welcome to the club.

#3727 4 years ago

I like the bookcase mod that's offered for sale by a different Pinsider here on Pinside, but that's a personal choice. What he has done also looks great too.

Quoted from PTHermes:

Any chance you remember what Pinsider made that mod? I like it!

Yes, Pinballhorse has them for sale. Look under classified ads Addams Family. He let me buy the one I got from him unpainted with the books not installed. This way I could paint the bookcase brown, cut out the needed books for my light mod and paint the books how I wanted.

Hello Addams Family owners.
I just finished recently my full restoration of my Addams Family. For those that missed the thread it is under "Its Show Time rebuilding a classic". Anyhow I did a plexiglass playfield back board along with see through art that would be back lit. I worked with a designer for the art work and had made different runs before I finished with my final one that was used in my machine. I am offering the ones I did not use for sale to help me cover some of my costs. I am posting here in this thread first before listing them on Pinside. Here is what I have:
1 complete set white see through (2 main decals and one small) with back board plastic that is cut and ready for decal to be installed. Cost is $250.00 + shipping.
1 complete set white see through (1 main decal and 1 small) $35.00 + shipping.
4 complete set clear see through (1 main decal and 1 small) $30.00 each + shipping.
2 complete set clear see through 1 with 2 main decal and 1 small. The second set is 1 and 1 only. $30.00 each set. This is darker sets (stone work color).
The sets that are clear see through will need frosted style lighting as you can see the strips through the decal. That's why I changed to white see through.
You can see pictures on my restoration thread and I will post a few here.
This is a first come, first served only and I will not be making them again. Pinside mail me if you're interested.....Mike

Sorry to dig up an old post but looking to upgrade my bumper lights and saw this post. Did you need an OCD board for these too work?

I do the Britecaps EVO from Pinball Life on most all of my Bally/Williams machines. Love the color tops and the white LEDs that are directed down. I have no OCD boards on any of my machine's and have no problem with effectiveness.

Here is what I did. I changed out the playfield back board to plexiglass and had the art work done so you could back light it. To me this also helps light up the back of the game, but not too much to take away the rest of the playfield GI lighting.

Quoted from ddebuss:

Looking for beta testers for my reproduction part.

That my Pinside store I've listed it as a work-in-progress / under development in my Bally/Williams reproduction parts page. https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1167-gameroom-mods/04551-bally-williams-reproduction-pinball-parts

I've seen it as well. it's FDM printed which is probably fine. I may offer an FDM version but I will have a resin version as well which even pretty up close will look like it's been injection molded like the original.
I'm in the final phases of creating and selling the Thing box for TAF. It will be modified just a bit from the original since it needed to be optimized for 3D printing. I'm interested in 1 or 2 beta testers to try it out. As you know the box is hard to get in and out so I'm expecting the testers actually need a box and are willing to go through the effort to try 1 or 2 iterations of it and provide feedback including photos. The Beta testers that help me finalize it will get other versions of it as I develop them. The idea is to create a bunch of different looks and feels including accommodations for adornments like rivets and leather. PM me if you are interested.

I did a lighted back board along with spot lights and added LEDs throughout the machine.

Quoted from Drac:

That looks great - well done!
Where did you get the lit backboard from?

Thank you! I made it myself. Bought the back board decal from judge-dreads-pinball off Ebay. Took the decal to a print shop to make it into a see through decal so I could back light it. I had this done before by him as I did the same thing on my Congo. Bought the 3/4" plexiglass from a local plastic supplier. Cut the plastic on my table saw as its two sections on the Addams Family. Finely back lit it with LED strips. Had to add a separate power source for it through as it was too much for the driver board.
Anyhow it was a big project, but love the look it did in the final product as it really helped light up the back of the playfield which is dark normally.

I personally like the cool blue white mixed in with some colors in my GI's. I like to match colors to the playfield plastics, but again it's a personal choice.

Quoted from Drac:

I love the lit backboard on your game! Did you get this from Pinball Decals or is there another source? Thank you.

I did not get the back board from Pinball Decals. I purchased a back board decal that I liked from a seller on Ebay. I then took it to a print shop I had used in the past to recreate the image in a see through decal. Had to do a few runs as the first ones came through with the lights (I used strip lights) being seen when lit. He then did a run with white see through which let enough light through with no issue's.
I bought some 3/4" plexiglass from a local supplier to make the backboard. I cut it to size with a table saw. If you want to see the process and the full restoration of my TAF and the backboard process you can view it here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/it-s-showtime-rebuilding-a-classic-the-addams-family-

Quoted from anx10us:

I hoping for some help, apologies if I'm asking in the wrong thread, or if this question has been answered before. I'm a lurking Addams Family pinball owner from the UK, I've had the machine some 10 years, condition is ok, the playfield has seen better days, wear in all the usual places, and a particularly awful mansion that has seen better days. It was always my intention to have a full restore done at some point, however time and money usually get in the way.
Anyway to my question, the machine no longer holds any settings, if I switch the machine off and back on again i'm back to Factory Settings Restored, the machine used to hold the settings for at least a few weeks, now its hours if not minutes ..
Looking in the backboard components I assumed I'd find some very old AA batteries that would need replacing, except I have a large capacitor and no battery holder ?
Looking online I cant correlate this setup with anything I can find ? Is this something that would have been done at the factory and I just never noticed, the space for the battery holder is there, just looks like it was never fitted ?
Any advice on what I could do to rectify my issue ?
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

This is what I have replaced all my Bally/Williams machines with. ebay.com link: itm
Easy installation, remove old battery holder (in your case old battery and jumper wire) solder in new board, install battery, set new settings to what you want, done. Enjoy!

Joined the club today! Bought from a friend who had owned it for almost 20 years...he started to consider what might happen to it later in his life...then some months later he finally offered to sell it to me. It hadn't seen much play in the past few years, but also needs some love as it is fairly dirty, needs flipper rebuilds, board maintenance, etc. It's got a DP playfield, but I'm not sure if they all were by that time.
Happy to be part of the club!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Welcome to the club! Enjoy as this title is one of the best.
Really love your shirt! Had to show my wife and told her she should buy one for me as that statement is true to fact for me. Come on sweetheart this will be the last one....he he he.

Quoted from LongJohns:

Hello all,
I have a couple questions:
1) is anyone having issues with the top right flipper staying put? I am guessing it is getting hit by a ball from the backside which seems to turn it clockwise. One can only tighten is so much, so any suggestions?
2) anyone powder coat their armor? I am thinking purple to match the cabinet text - anyone have pictures?
Thanks

I did black, turned out great.

Quoted from golfingdad1:

Compared to most yours is bright in general, but i do like the mirrors . Mine wouldn't be nearly as bright in the back .

Quoted from pinmister:

It is bright in the back because of adding a led strip mod and that actually is a fantastic idea to light up this game(I know Ler Mods sells them). Did not want to go with Pinstadiums but what Mikespinball has done looks great with the mirror blades-I am leaning towards mirror blades now. Seems like mirror blades were hot for a few years and they faded away with the introduction of art blades.
Also it appears my right side GI is out? I tried to trace wires and look for any loose connections and nothing? I think it is J120 Purple/White? Does anyone know the fuse location possibly or any ideas?

Hi guys,
Its bright in the back due to I took a back board decal to a print shop and had it converted so that it could be back lit. I then bought same size plexiglass, cut it to the same as the wood back board. Mounted them and did two LED 12v strips (separate power source) behind the back board. This really helps light up the back area of the playfield which is very dark.
Did this similar mod to my Congo too.

Quoted from pinmister:I also like your Indiana Jones pinball clock-did you make that too? I have one like it but it is Coca Cola

No I did not, I purchased it many years ago off Ebay when there wasn't any control (licensing control) what people did/made for sale. Cool clock and it's in my surgery room, (what the wife calls it as its very bright in there) pinbal repair/restoration room.

I like the EVO pop bumper LED lights from Pinball Life a bit better.

Quoted from pinmister:

Wondering if I should get my Adams powder coated or leave it original stainless? I kinda like the feeling of stainless on the palms-weird?
Any good suggestions on powder colors? Metallic purple, Iridescent pearl?

I did black and liked the way it turned out. To me I like to have the "trim" not stand out as when I look at the sides of a cabinet my first impression should be the art work and not the trim (side rails, lock down bar, legs, coin door etc.) Again it's a personal choice.

Anybody have any opinions on the jet bumper skirts. I am pretty sure I am definitely ruling out the solid green, but can’t decide which looks the best out of the others.

I always match the skirt color to whatever color I am using for the top/cap color. On the Addams Family I did blue, purple, green, red and orange. I liked how it turned out.

Hello TAF collectors,
Just thought I would share that I just finished up a complete restoration on a TAF machine. A new playfield was installed along with a new cabinet, also many new parts. A lot of work involved, but very satisfying once it was completed.

If in the future if you want to follow along with what I am working on, you can see it on my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/mikespinballmachines?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Quoted from CLEllison:

That's beautiful congrats!
Did you buy that cabinet from Paul at virtuapin? (I love that guy btw)
And PS, please change the pop bumper caps to be in the correct color order when released by Bally (I'm super OCD) lol
PSS, if that's a Mirco playfield get Cliffy protectors on that ASAP.

Thank you really appreciate it. It is a labor of love.

Yes, I think the cabinet was purchased from him. The owner bought it and had it delivered to me.

You know I looked at many Addam Family machines here on Pinside and couldn’t see what was the correct color sequence for the pop bumpers. It seemed like everyone was different. The only one I know is correct in the clear one. So, what is the correct color sequence?

It’s a CPR playfield. The only protector is on the mode start hole.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate it.
