Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

That's pretty much it, although being GI, you don't need the diode. You can also use a wedge base socket.

Have you checked out the matrix series of lighting at Comet ? Really cool, set up a GI #44 insert and ran a line to a green wedge for the swamp. $3 cost. Reversible in about 2 minutes.

I just took the ramp off for cleaning, seemed to be 4-5 Phillips around the edge, the two sets of screws for the aluminum flaps, and the nut, for the wire ramp, I just moved everything over and you had decent access to the bumper caps. Oh yeah watch the diverter.

Quoted from Durzel:

Thanks man I guess when you say watch the diverter its that you need to just slide the ramp to the right when moving it out of the way? Or do you have to do something with the diverter?

It’s just pushing it in as it catches, hey I have to replace my opto boards on the bookcase. Is it just unbolting the whole assembly from the bottom to get to them?

Quoted from fatality83:

I installed all LED's and lit up the swap, vault, chair and put a red light by thing. I want to light up the topper with GI. Can someone explain to me if there is a location in the backbox where I can tap into the GI? I want to light my cloud topper with GI but keep the flashers for multi ball. I thought I can tie into the back of the lights on the back box for the backglass but it won't work
[quoted image]

I’m right behind you! I was going to run a line up from a matrix Led from Comet off a GI in the back of the playfield.

I’m running the Comet pop bumper ring with the same issue, I was just going to file a straight edge on the led ring for aesthetics but not get close to the circuits.

Wow, thanks a lot I really appreciate the photos! They do look great. I saw those and they are one that I am considering but wasn't sure how they would look so the pictures were perfect!

I put in the Comet rings, even in the shaved off one, sticks out slightly but I can live with it. I’ll probably end up sanding that edge straight because of OCD but it looks good.

Cleaned my subway ramp and put everything back together, turn it on and I’m getting an opto 85 and a thing limit optos message on the test report, I swear I did nothing else, any ideas? Thanks.

#2766 5 years ago
Quoted from Durzel:

What does Thing test do? Does it rise up and go back down again, triggering up/down optos accordingly?
What does Switch Edges show when the machine is on attract mode?
Check the wires/connector going to the 2-Opto box next to the Thing motor. You might find one is not properly in there.

Thing test goes up and down. and replugged the connector to the 2-opto box. I’ll do a more thorough check to see if one of the wires/pin is loose in the connector. Thank you.

TAF newbie question, my swamp kick out sometimes will buzz but not kick anything out. Doesn’t happen every time. Is that fixed with a fresh coil sleeve? Coil?

I had this happen when there was a loose bulb rolling around in there blocking the ball.

Oh! I think I’ll check at least clean it, might have knocked some crud loose. Thx!

Damn the luck, my ball release, chair kickout, ramp diverter, outhole, thing magnet and lockup kickout went unresponsive in the middle of a game, solenoid test confirmed the above checked the fuse at 103 and it’s good, connector at J130 looks good , switches were good as well. Noticed that the Hand wasn’t picking up the ball before it happened. Any ideas? Also a newbie

#2855 5 years ago
Quoted from jetmechinnc:

Looks like per the wiring diagram you need to check fuse location 105. Those all go through connector J130 to J107 at pin 3 (Violet-Yellow) then through the High Power fuse F105. Should be a 3 amp slow blow fuse per the manual.

Thank you I’ll give that a try tonight.

Found the issue, fuse was fine... thank you for the help Jet! I appreciated the feedback!

Bought it in Dallas at TPF from the Starship Fantasy booth.

There's just something about the angle of this mod I dont like. If you're able to 3d print, I think what would look fantastic is a flat sign with the edges having a protruding frame to be painted purple, the inner frame wood looking like the chair with the word thing cut out and a diffuser shield glued on back. Then doubling up the colors (stacking ontop of each other) so the sign becomes equally lit. If you think you could print one I'd gladly pay ya. Hit me up if youd like me to supply a rough draft of what I'm talking about.

I’m just good with markers and the print function, true the angle is slightly low, I think though a small strip on the edge of the ramp and plastic lamp piece and I could change the angle of the wagon just enough. I’m actually happy as is though over the stock look, but that’s me.

Took the plunge and added in a mirrored backglass, switched up some brighter LED’s to adjust from the translight. Pretty happy with the setup!

My “The Power” flasher is out, everything else is fine. Checked the bulb and swapped it with a new one and nothing, is there a specific fuse to check or transistor? Thank you.
