I believe the lights actually ARE the color DMD. Due to the size of it, the physical thing lights are removed and the color DMD is programmed to make thing light up.

Quoted from delt31:

looking to replace the lights that are behind THING on the panel. What is the easiest way to reach these? Mine has a color dmd on it and it appears these lights are directly behind it. Seems like I need to remove the color DMD to replace? Before I went through the hassle just wanted to confirm.

Congrats. I also cancelled my GB premium preorder for a nicely priced TAF as well. I still really want GB but I have plenty of time... I'm now at full capacity... But couldn't pass up the chance to get one with a swapped playfield. I get it next week, can not wait!

Finaly in the club since I passed on G.B premium

Finally in the club. Picked this up from another pinsider, it came with a swapped repro playfield installed and new plastics ramps switches etc... looks and plays really sharp!

I had the same problem with my thing box. Removed it, hammered the hell out of it as 20+ years of balls smashing into it had dented the sides and bottom. Still happened 10% of the time. Said F this and bought a replacement from Marco for like fifty bucks. Problem solved

That looks like a steal. To be safe I'd check it out first, as you can't see the entire playfield in any of these pictures, or if there are any hacks in the boards etc... what he's showing you looks in amazing shape, it even looks like it has new decals applied to the cabinet... but maybe there's other areas that aren't so great? Make the drive, check it out, and that's a REALLY reasonable price to have it delivered and set up from 4 hours away... I vote drive up in your Roadster and pay for delivery if it looks as great as the pictures make it seem.

I cancelled my GB premium preorder for a nice TAF with a swapped repro playfield. Still working through a couple issues with it. I REGRET NOTHING

Could somebody help me out?

I figured out the cause of my lamp matrix problem (single inserts triggering multiple others), it's the red lamp socket (lower one) by the vault. Everything is fine when the bulb is removed.

Problem has been there since I had the game.

Is this guy missing a diode, or perhaps are the wires incorrectly attached? A playfield swap was done so I presume this was a user error. Socket itself is fine and powers a bulb.

Many thanks!

Thanks. Definitely appears to be. Any chance the grey one it was replaced with needs a diode? And these suckers appear to be riveted in there. Hmmm... I wonder if the plate that holds the sockets is available to be purchased with new sockets already attached. I can only find the piece without the sockets.

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

Wiring looks correct, although the bottom sockets appears to have been replaced.

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

I'm a little confused. Both act like insert lamps and should have diodes. Not just the one socket but the other also. Looking at mine, I have no diodes on mine either.
You won't find the plastic for sale with the brackets and sockets attached. If you have the parts and want them replaced, you can send it to me and I'll do it for you, free of charge.

Strange right? Because both sockets above the center extra ball ramp have diodes. And the behavior of causing havoc along the entire row and column surrounding it is in line with a shorted/reversed/missing diode leaking power to other lamps.

Thanks very much for your offer, I'll see if there's any way I can troubleshoot this any further before I go that route. For now I've simply put some electrical tape around the bulb so there's not a gaping hole there, I'd rather have one bulb not turn on than all of them turning on at once
