Joined the club unexpected yesterday

Started shopping immediately. After 18 years of no service that was required although everything worked.

New rubbers, cleaning and a play field protector should make it not a new bit a decent pin good for a second life.

Man, First Time Shopping an old Bally. What a pain that you can’t pull the play field forward

Biggest issue found was a small crack in the ramp at the place of the diverted where the ball goes to the right to the wire form. Where the wireform connects to the ramp also damage is present. Appears to be a weak construction and I guess common issue?

So, begun with the building phase. Steel is back on the machine. Now plastics. Than wait for Cliffy’s to arrive which go underneath the play field protector and install the protector to keep it nice for years to come. Cabinet and backbox touched up.

Next week I expect a new clear ramp so should be up and running next next weekend if everything goes as planned

I got this one at Led4pin

It’s not a difficult pin to shop by the way.

Quoted from PinDocMN:

Would anybody send me some pics of where to connect the LEDs and wiring for the swamp GI light and kickout lights? I'm a newbie at this and trying to learn how to make my own mods. I bought some LEDs, wires, etc and want to do it myself instead of spending $30. How about the electric chair scoop?
Or maybe this is a bad idea and I should just go for the kit?

No, not a bad idea. Just hook up you led’s via a resistor to the closest GI light. Easy to do and only costs dollar cents. Challenge is always how to aim the leds to get best results. Just play with it, you can do it.

And this after the job. Did take the opportunity to add an extra light under a plastic. Playfield looks more clear now and lighter.

Must admit the ramp looks more sturdy but it’s not a perfect fit. Had to wiggle a little and put some stress on it to get it screwed down

Some awful gameplay on my TAF

#2114 6 years ago
Quoted from jgadzia:

ok just installed my new playfield and powered things up, everything looks pretty good, but the "g" and the second "e" lights are not working. checked out the matrix and the fact that the other lights are working means that the j137 column is working. I check continuity on the board and everything is good. when i check continuity after the diode to the pin everything seems good. when i power up and check the voltage across the socket only reading about .3 volts vs. 1.3 on a working socket. So i figure the problem might be at the board, according to the matrix the ground is on connector J133 but when i look at the board i see that there is only one wire hooked in J133. This is the picture i took before i took out the playfied. Should J134 be in J133? Wanted to check with you guys before i mucked something up!

Your connectors appear to be OK. If I am not mistaking these three connectors above each other are all in parallel.

See a picture below of my board. On you picture I don’t see 138 inserted by the way

So, spent USD 5 on eBay for a couple of fuseholders with a 3A sloblow fuse to make TAF more bulletproof. No brown burnmarks on my playfield

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Thats probably the best $5 solution out there, but you can still get magnet burn. I have seen it happen a couple times.
The best solution that I have never seen fail, is to get the replacement magnet board. I put them in all my TAF.
It was re-engineered to work correctly/perfectly and they are inexpensive:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/new-addams-family-fused-high-power-board-a-15139
If anyone has seen a burned playfield after installing this please let me know.

Thanks for the tip.

I think this board looks great but in the end offers the exact same functionality, eg fuses in line with the magnet. Just nicely ordered on a pcb and not in the wires.

However, one thing I learned from it that he is using 2A sloblow fuses where I am using 3A. Will replace the 3A with 2A and see what happens. Worse case they blow in normal operation and I have to stick 3A back again.

Thanks Crispin ,
Maybe I am wrong , isn't there a different one that has more detail , like wood planks???

You mean this one? Was made by a pinsider. You just print the file on glossy paper and than make you your own plastic. Isn’t difficult.

Had some EL wire lying around so made something. Set it parallel to the right lighting bolt. Looks great I think

I just lift the playfield at the back out of the railing, move it forward and let it rest on the wood. This worked great with me.
