Here are some pictures of a recent shop out of a TAF for a friend that I did using Titan competition rings. I also color matched the posts and flasher caps to the playfield/plastics. Curious if people think this looks good or takes away from the original colors. For example because it has the red pingraffix pin blades I changed the flasher cap on the red curtains to a red plastic cap instead of clear. I also changed the back right flasher cap to blue to match the plastics and I changed the clear cap over the swamp to green. I also changed the plastic posts to red to match the curtain areas...Thoughts?

Quoted from KornFreak28:

Did you have to remove the PF to install the cabinet blades? Thanks!

Yes its the best way to do it and actually removng the playfield is not that hard your dont need to disconnect anything, just pull it out and set to the side of the machine. HOWEVER make sure you have help when you put it back in as the playfield will snag the pinblades and tear them if you dont do it very delicately.

#852 7 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

There is enough slack in the wires to nott disconnect the PF?

Yes There is enough give to pull it out without problem. I have had the playfield on a rotissrie style right next to the machine before. Just be careful when setting it up. I wish I had a picture to show you but it works.

I'm new to the club and wanted to get some advice on how to more effectively LED the backbox to really make the translight pop. I purchased my machine from a fellow pinsider and he previously installed a cointaker LED kit...but I feel like the backbox lighting could use some color.
I'd greatly appreciate it if folks could take pics of their translites lit up and a pic of the backbox LED layout as well so I can get some ideas.
Thanks in advance...I love TAF!

Do you have the blinking leds in the 44 holes? Cointaker sells them. A warm white behind the "The Thing" looks nice as well as some reds in the window.

#855 7 years ago

based on Previous bad experience be very careful putting the playfield in and have help as it is very EASY to snag and tear your pinblades when putting the playfield back in

#857 7 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

I can imagine! I have the hydraulic cart and I will most probably remove the legs and lower the whole pin to the ground which will make it easier to pull the PF

Post pictures once you have them on would love to see what yours looks like!

Quoted from 27dnast:

It's a pain, but there are two screws accessible along the edge (see the cutouts in the plastics)

Here is a picture with the plastic removed its just two screws you can reach with a long screw driver.

I am shopping out my friends addams family and just finished cleaning/waxing/polishing the playfield. His is in great condition and it came out nice. What do you think?

Quoted from Arcade:

Pretty nice looking playfield.
Not much wear in the skill shot hole or the chair scoop.
Also looks like the pads on all the switches are in great shape. Did you replace them?
Great work. No go clean that horrible lockdown bar mech. lol.

A couple more perspective pictures. For an original playfield its really nice no mansion wear or magnet burn. And yes when I shop out machines I always remove the foam pads behind the stationary targets and replace with new padding it really makes it POP.

Quoted from Miguel351:

I haven't really looked it up yet, but I'll ask here in case anybody knows off the top of their head:
Is there a definite or factory correct color arrangement/order to the pop bumpers?
I know on other titles like TZ, they belong in a certain order, but since the pops have nothing to do with the skill shot on TAF, I don't have a reference point. I ask because when I go to rebuild the pops, I've got matching skirt colors to go with them that I'm thinking of using. I'd hate to have one or more colors out of order!

Not the best picture but this the proper alignment
Red
Clear (Altered)
Blue
yellow
Orange (Amber)

Quoted from KornFreak28:

Guys,
My top box lights behind the translite all work but I noticed I only have one bulb that blinks (the top left one with the red window). That is the only one that blinks. How many bulbs are supposed to blink in the top box? Why do I only have this one bulb blink? All the other bulbs work perfectly in the top box, but the ones that are supposed to blink, don't blink at all, they just stay on. Am I supposed to have a special bulb for the areas that are supposed to blink? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Cointaker sells LED replacements that work great. I have used them on all the addams I have worked on. I think Comet sells LED replacements also but here the link for Cointaker.

Quoted from KornFreak28:

Do I have to replace the socket if I install LEDs?

Nope they are plug and play. Just pop'em in and they work just like regular blinker bulbs!

#953 7 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

Ok, then which LED do I buy? Which one will blink?

The socket for TAF does not make the bulb blink so to clarify you can put a 44 incandescent or a 44 LED in there and they will fit and work but will not blink. If you want a blinker bulb you dont have to change the socket just buy the 455 incandescent from pinball life or the 455 LED from cointaker.

#955 7 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

Just saw them at cointaker. Thanks a lot!

NP I love LED bulbs and love to assist! Keep asking questions we are all here to help!

Quoted from NPO:

Random question here, guys, and maybe I missed it in the thread here. When it comes time to swap out all 5 pop bumper caps - the white one in particular - where do you get one that specific? Do you just order a regular one and modify it, or is there a place that has it "pre-modded" and ready?
Just curious - thanks!

Quoted from Bryno:

Hi, I'm very new here and looking around for my first pin. Do you think £4K for a very clean and shopped TAF sounds reasonable?
It is from a private seller. The ones I see from retailers seem to be going for £6.5K to £7.5K.
Thanks.
B.

Very good deal if its shopped and clean and has a decent playfield go for it. You probably won't find one like that again at that price. Here in the states that would only get you a heavily routed machine with playfield damage that needs restoration.

Did anyone try this?

That is awesome thanks for posting I always wondered what those plastics were for as I have bought multiple packs of new TAF plastics and never knew what they were for. I may have to try that out and will let you know the results.

Again thanks for the post and FANTASTIC JOB with the Olympics! BEST OPENING/CLOSING CEREMONY EVER and a great showing by the Brazilian teams!

Quoted from BOBCADE:

I just joined the club with a players game at a pretty good price. The cabinet is nicer than I expected. It's dirty and hasn't been shopped in a decade I'm sure. Topper complete and all working.
Main issue is playfield mansion and insert wear. Anyone recommend the overlay on eBay? ebay.com link » Addams Family Pinball Machine Mansion Insert Decal Overlay

I am not sure if it is the same overlay but I have used these professional ones from Little Shop of games and and if you prep and apply them correctly you get fantastic results. I have done them in several Addams and the customers have been happy with the before and after.

Well, tried and tried again during game-play with the glass off and just wasn't able to replicate the "no, no, no Thing" thing... I'm starting to guess there's sthg wrong with my TAF... Does anyone know how to exactly accomplish this event?

I believe you have to have both balls already locked then have it land on thing. This is why you can't activate it just by hitting the switches a bunch of time. Lock up two balls and then try it.

Hi guys
Looking for TAFG gold coloured bookcase
Seem to be out of stock everywhere! Also anyone seen a gold thing box around.
Thanks

Sid this site has everything Gold in stock except for the thing box. I just searched addams family on the site then sorted by playfield parts if the search link below does not work. I have ordered from this site before and they are legit.
