That swamp accelerator is great! Bought it from Lee too. Was tired of waiting for the ball to roll out of the swamp.

Was playing my TAF last night and THING only came halfway out of the box - not far enough to engage the magnet for ball pickup. I asked a friend who said the motor/gear box would need to be replaced as it is "slipping" - Anyone else run into this problem? Does the entire motor/gear box need replacing? $200 + for it on marospecialites.com - Thanks!

Call Pinball Resource first and see if they can rebuild it. They can rebuild MPM motors in particular.
In the club as 2014, but without playing games. Game was awaiting restore. As of today she is about 90% done.
Any hints on this one? I have done a playfiled swap, but now the bookcase turntable does not sit level (one side is slightly higer than the other), plus it sits closer to one side (in the opening). Adjusting the turntable up and down is easy, but was wondering if anyone had hints in leveling it? I have not spend much time looking into the problem, but figured someone here might already know.
There should be a shim under the bookcase that will properly align it. I think I saw a post about this in the past that included where to get the shim (http://www.marcospecialties.com/control/keywordsearch;jsessionid=25CF98AB226644011D4BCEA58B87A33C.jvm1?SEARCH_STRING=addams+shim).
It's been a while, but I recall mine having shims you had to move around to get the turntable level.
Anyone a master at adjusting the blue bookcase?

I just added a Polk external subwoofer to my machine and it's absolutely killer. If you are thinking about adding one I highly recommend it. I have to go for multiball every time now just because the thunder sounds so awesome. I've tried this sub on four other machines including Metallica and BSD, but TAF is my favorite so far. SHOWTIME... BOOM... BOOM... BOOM!!!
Just joined Have some work ahead of me that is pretty intimidating for a first time owner. Removed mylar from PF already. PF is in pretty good shape beside a few mansion insert wear spots. I have touched them up for now (removing PF in a week or so to thoroughly clean) Any suggestions on how to remove lines in PF that were a result of the edge of the mylar? I have tried Novus 2 with no luck. I think i might try to sand them out when i have the PF apart??
Hey guys just joined the club about 3 weeks ago. Ive done a few things mostly just the mods you see and LED's. A also replaced the speakers, and im adding a couple more minor things soon then i think its finished.
I dont understand why this wasn't blue from the factory, looks so much better...

Lit the plunger!

Used a small LED strip to light the swamp

This area should have also been lit from the factory, it has the most perfect hole to put in a bulb and makes the biggest difference on the playfield.

Quoted from wasin:The illumination with the leds is awesome. Nice TAF trab.
I need some more time to work on mine.
Thank i appreciate it, hey i was gonna ask how hard is it to put on the back box decal? I think they look great and see a few people in here have them already.
Quoted from fiberdude120:trab where did you get that uncle fester with the elwire? That looks great.
Ebay, i added the elwire myself but i believe that is what he was designed for.
So my TAF started acting a little funky on me and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. While cycling through the wait screens they occasionally overlap. When it says The Addams Family, creepy, kooky, etc pop up at the same time. Only thing I've done is replace a pop bumper light with one that may not necessarily been the right one. Could that be causing it?

I would not think so. What you are seeing is generally a memory paging problem. Reseat the ribbon cables and run the memory test in diagnostics.
Thanks Terryb! Any particular board I should be looking for? Haven't opened it up in a while so I'm not sure which cable I should be screwing with.

Ribbon cable from the cpu to the dmd controller and dmd controller to the dmd.
One other thing you can try is a factory reset.
Quoted from Imeh:Nice, can't wait to get mine back.
When u get yours back, it will be the best looking TAF in the USA.
Hi everyone,
Got an Addams Family as my first pin a few weeks ago and am enjoying it quite a bit. I do have a few issues and thought I would sort of log them here in case anyone has any ideas.
1. Weak kick out from the swamp. Most of the time this is not an issue, but occasionally will lead to a SDTM or even more rare the ball will not eject at all and I’ll have to dig it out. This seems to get worse the longer I leave the machine on for what it is worth. In researching this, it seems like the first thing to check is the solenoid coil. The sleeve does appear to have some jagged edges at the end which I attempted to take a picture of. My first idea is to order a new coil and some sleeves and try to replace the sleeve first and go from there.
2. The sound will start going in and out after the game has been on for a while (about forty minutes?). The speakers will crackle and the game will go silent for a bit, then the speakers will crackle again and the sound will come back on. This will then continue until I turn the game off for a while. My wild guess here is that something is overheating?
3. Sometimes when a ball is being ejected into the ball trough it will bounce off the other side of the trough and go back into ball kick out. Usually this resolves itself, but sometimes it can get stuck in between and result in a tilt as I try to shake the ball out.
I’m sort of trepidatious about trying to fix stuff on my own but I thought I’d give it a try and hopefully not make things worse.
Plywood,
Regarding the weak kickout from the swamp, check the welds on the scoop.
last year mine was acting funny and shooting it sdtm, off the sling and other strange stuff. Found the scoop welds were cracked, fix it and it fixed the problem. Also check the chair scoop .
Thanks golfing, I'll check it out. Yeah, both the chair and the swamp kick outs are quite the adventure to control. I'm used to the Pinball Arcade where I can dead bounce the chair kick out to the right flipper and hold the right flipper up to control the ball from the swamp. Not so much on my machine. Still having fun, though. It was neat to come home from work and find my son and his two friends playing the game talking about how fun it was.
I'll bet that's part of the problem, if not the problem.
The ball rattles around slightly when exiting the scoop because the welds have broke ,common, and the ball comes out slow at random angles .

How do Mirror Blades look in a TAF ?
It surely looks awesome... mirror blades are great for ANY pinball machine! Does someone have pics?

I can't tell. Is the clue in the photo name "LEDs around back'"? I still can't identify what LEDs have been added, if any.
It is a dark photo but looks like you've got no sign on the Bear Kicks ramp above the Thing ramp.
Just posted NOS Williams TAF Ramp sub assembly for sale. ($149 plus shipping or pickup at expo.) Check out Marketplace or Forum under dougram69 for user id.
Thanks

Hello everyone!
i'm new to all of this and my TAF is new to me, although it's actually not, it's quite old and will need a lot of TLC in the coming months.
Dear dougram69, i'm trying to find someone living close to me, who will be at the EXPO and might pick up one of Your ramps, since mine is badly beat up and needs replacement!
in any case, hi everybody, i'm hoping to become a contributor aswell sometime, until then i'm the Newbie with the dumb questions.
Greetings from Austria,
felix

I had a similar slipping problem. I replaced the gearbox and it works perfectly now. Im not sure there is another way to fix it other than opening the gearbox to check the gear teeth and the lubricant inside.

LED behind Thing, looks like they marked the PF for a lamp socket but never put one there.
