It's going to be months before I get back to the house, so there won't be any pics of the doorbell wiring for now. Just Google foghorn doorbell and a dollhouse site will pop up. The guy got a chuckle when he heard what I was using it for. We just wired it directly into the start button. It also has a couple of AA batteries in it. The volume is fine, especially if you wire it under the cab. As for the train car, just look on ebay. They are there all the time. Type in toxic waste train. It's just a flat bed rail car with 2 waste barrels on it. Or look on model train sites. It was cheap. I think I paid $15 for it.

#54 9 years ago

My favorite game! Currently, a double member haha

#55 9 years ago

You can find the toxic waste containers on ebay under Lionel waste. The price has gone up since I bought mine. They are averaging $45 in the box. Mine was out of box. That's why it was $15.

#56 9 years ago

Gotta love the toxic waste container, let me know if you have an extra that you would part with !

regards,

Steve

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was able to get pics of my TAF while I was back in Florida. The toxic waste containers came from a model train. You get two with the car. The tombstones are also from a train set. All the grass and weeds are aquarium grass. The frogs are D & D game pieces. I like the alligator from one of the other posts. looking for one that size for my junkyard. Beware of Thing sign is made by a guy that stopped making them a couple years ago. Addam's figure's are from the '60's or '70's. I also have a foghorn doorbell wired into the start button.

Nice. More subtle than mine, for sure.

Easy and fun, yes?

Please explain how you did the painting. Did you spray it brown first? How did you fill in the grain?

I used some plastic model paint, a few brushes, a tad of patience, and a sprinkle of creativity.

I was inspired by the other hand painted electric chairs, so I decided to paint mine. I think it turned out ok.

Wow, that's nice.

Really looks like wood.

Do you model paint as a hobby?

This is actually the first model I have tried to paint. I was an artist in the movie industry for a bit, so that helped.

Well done! Looks great. Did you do the "metal" bits in a bronze color?

What did you do for movies? Set dec? Matte paintings? I've seen some concept drawings, sets, and set pieces firsthand from some of my favorite shows over the years and I've always been enthralled with what I've seen. Such a cool, massively overlooked skill.

#69 9 years ago

Thanks man. Yeah, I used a acrylic metallic paint for the bronze parts.

For the wood I used this paint: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036VFV3Q/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1

I covered everything with a coat of that paint and got it into the cracks. Let it dry over night. Wiped off everything except what is in the cracks with rubbing alcohol, and went back over the wood with a slightly watered down coat of paint (painting with the grain of the wood). After it dried I sprayed it with some semi gloss clear coat.

So I really wanted cousin ITT near the stand up targets but I didn't want to pay 140 bucks for the mod. I decided to make my own and sculpture it. What do you think?

Here's a better picture of Cousin ITT with the details.

Pretty rough ball eject wear on my TAF

Any suggestions on how to address it?

I posted this a couple of years ago. I would love for somebody to be able to change up the audio to do this.

#76 9 years ago

Perhaps Rick at PPS could work on getting a 25th Anniversary TAF 2.0 version made with the movie audio like that one has. I wouldn't do it identical to that FP version, but there's a lot there that is way better than the original.

I painted my bookcase to look more like wood and stone.

Blasphemy? Maybe, but I never thought the blue plastic looked very good.

Love it !!!

I painted the edge and part of the top of the blue disc under the decal black on mine because I hated the blue but I didn't think to paint the bookcase part brown. The brown and grey look great.

I also now wish I had painted the inside and outside of the Thing box black before I put on decals.

The red plastic just looks weird.

Next time...

Totally. I painted it gloss black before putting on the decals. I also repainted Thing to make it look realistic. It's pretty creepy now.

Yup. I didn't go too crazy painting Thing. I might put some more detail in and hit it with flat clear coat.

Here is my 'quick fix' for my ball eject ware ( http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bally-the-addams-family-taf-ball-eject-play-field-repair), until I get the time and skills to do a real repair...

Quoted from BrianZ:

So what did you use for paint on Things Hand?

Water based acrylic model paint. I had a flesh colored one, one for shadowed flesh and a highlight flesh paint.

I went over it with a satin clear coat and a thin coat of flat clear coat.

Easy one...

Studying the User Guide fuse chart on page 57.
I am looking at a "foreign imported" TAF.
http://mirror2.ipdb.org/files/20/Bally_1992_The_Addams_Family_Manual.pdf

Should the Line Filter be 8A NB since it's now in a domestic setting?

Just checking to be safe,
thanks!

Can anyone look at the main flipper coils and let me know what stock is? mine have 11630 in them and I think the right flipper is not as strong as it should be.

Quoted from OldHarley:

That's not correct. Proper coils should be:

Lower Flips: 15411

Upper right: 11630

Small flip: 11753

Hope this helps!

Just joined with TAFG#909, she's nice.
I was wondering, the coin door lights flash with the flashers/GI, or something during multiball.
Is that a difference for Gold, or do all Addams do it?
I was looking for a video to find out, but couldn't tell in any.
I did find this gem of a video, with a super cool proto!
Clear bookcase and thing box, diff. colors by greed letters, what else?

#91 9 years ago
Quoted from DNO:

Clear bookcase and thing box, diff. colors by greed letters, what else?

Different text style on some mansion windows, the electric chair lights are reversed, and cousin It does not appear to be on his insert.
And also, thanks to the poor quality of video, the first TAF color DMD.

#92 9 years ago

Just joined - would love to get uncle lester and some other characters.. Just ordered Gold Roms and my ColorDMD

beat me to it

#94 9 years ago
Quoted from PunishersLEMC:

Mine did the same thing with LED's.
I removed the chair and used a dremel tool to enlarge the chair hole a bit. Have not had the bulb pop out since.
At first I thought it was the socket, but the problem turned out to be the hole was not lined up right with the socket.

My Addams Gold does it too,

#96 9 years ago
Quoted from PunishersLEMC:

I used a tiny (less than pea-sized) blob of museum putty on the back side of the chair bulbs to hold them in.

Just pressed it in so it contacts the bulb housing and the socket backside and they stay put.

The putty is white so you have to put it on the back side where you can't see it but it sticks well and is 100% removable in 3 seconds with no residue.

What is the difference between the regular prom and the gold prom. I need to see what version I am running but I think I need to upgrade and was trying to understand the difference.

Well the first thing you will see is on the DMD it will say addams family collector edition.

#100 9 years ago
Quoted from OldHarley:

The biggest two differences are the addition of Super Seance and finding Cousin It's hidden objects in certain mansion rooms for big points.
Also Things wagon on the DMD for the match sequence says "Gold" on it.
