RE: Mr & Mrs PacMan pinball. I was getting no speech from this machine. So I replaced all the caps on the sound board and sprayed some contact cleaner on the pots... I am still getting no speech.
Any help appreciated.

All speech on that board comes from the TMS5200 voice chip.
Often, the legs of that chip become tarnished
I pulled the TMS5200 chip the legs were pretty ugly I cleaned them with a fiberglass pen and re-installed. Now I am can hear the voice on the game, but the voice is VERY quiet (i can barely hear it); while all sound effects are normal.
The speech pot is on high, when i adjust it downward the sound disappears totally.
What would cause very quiet sound in this case?

I had a 1k pot (i only had one) on hand. So I replaced the speech pot... still the same sound situation.. I can barely hear it. I did not replace the other pot (sound pot)
