A few years ago there was a gathering in the game room and I had a sign saying
"Getting it to the 80 = a roll of quarters". I can't remember the scores, but a 10
year old (a Friend's Son) did it three times. I topped the night off at 3 rolls..
At one time, the glass wasn't particularly appealing, so a while back, my Graphic
Designer made the Skill Roll decal. Came out nice..

Quoted from cjmiller:

It does seem crazy that you can't buy the artwork rolled up in a cardboard tube and apply it to your own piece

That's what I had done and placed it on the bottom of the original glass, and then scraped off
the original flaking art work. One other collector asked, so I had another made.
It's like a decal on 3 layers of vinyl and applies to the backside of the glass..

Quoted from meSz:

How is it in comparison to an original glass when lit?

Although the pic that I have loaded in the laptop is deceiving, it's actually right there with silk screen.
Same with the last glass that I had made (Genco 2 Player Basketball), the lit numbers seem bright in
the pics, but they're fine.
Earlier today I took a pic of the League Leader. The 2 hit panels I had made, but the original backglass
lit areas also seem overly bright, but they're not..

If you ever feel like doing another one, please let me know and I'll buy it.

Okay, I'll get in contact with my Graphic Designer. Maybe can have one done in a couple of weeks.
Whatever it cost me will be your cost. You'll be happy with the price..

Does anyone have any feedback on the quality of CPR's new Skill Roll backglass as compared to one from BGresto?

A few years ago, I had my Graphic Designer that makes my backglasses make a Skill Roll
decal for a Fellow Collector. I'm presently having one done for another. I can have another
made if you'd like to take that route. Probably 1/5 the cost of a backglass.
Comes out nice..

I had a couple Skill Roll decals made (it was already on file) for a fellow collector, and had an extra made
in case anyone has a flaky glass. They do apply on the backside of the glass, so pretty close to silk
screen. $45.00 (exactly what I have into it) plus shipping (7 or 8 bucks)..

In need of marquees/glasses for skill Roll and skill parade.

A few years ago, I had a decal made for my Skill Roll, and after learning other collectors could use one,
I had a few others produced. Still have a couple. It applies on the backside of the glass and pretty
much looks the same as silk screen. They're $45.00 (which is my cost) plus $7.50 shipping if you might
like to take that route..
Can be applied to the original glass..

In the past, I've had backglasses made and a few years back I tried having one made
in the form of a decal (Skill Roll) for a fellow collector (ryan 1234) and it worked out fine.
I have a couple left with Cait 001 claiming one so still have one if interested..
Not making a penny, just helping out. To me it's a little tough to pay 250 or 300 bucks
when 80% of the glass is empty..
Any wonders, you can check out post #274

Thanks, Mopar! I'm going to get your decal and order a fresh cut of glass locally.

No problem. I responded to your PM with the info..

What I saw on location was the bar would give a free drink for reaching the bottom and/or patrons would play high score for dollars.

Yes, and Bally made certain that they had no part of it "For Amusement Only" Haha..

Have a little story. A couple years after I had a Skill Roll and still before they were very known,
I was at an old Vendor's place that was retiring and he said walk back here with me. I walked back
and he said you can have that Bingo machine. I said how about those 5 Skill Rolls? He only thought
about it, so I decided I'll just ask again some other time. If I knew how popular they would later
become, I would have pushed the issue and would have gotten them. At a later time when I once
again asked, what he said was what I added up to be, they got thrown out..
I still know of one that was in a bar (that I attended) all up to 15 years ago. A non-collector has it.
I'm working on it..

Quoted from gutz:

If that switch isn't opening every time, it might run the motor an extra revolution and be screwing up your row counter.

Yup, this was my first thought, but thinking it only happened after the 2nd nickel shot, that
didn't add up. But now, the Score Motor's run-out switch might be just a little too close together
and although when suppose to open it may still sometimes be slightly touching..
I also thought maybe the Score Motor's armature may be sticky and not releasing once the motor's
circuit is cut, but after checking my Skill Roll, I see that it doesn't have an armature that pulls away
like many other motors have from that era..
When facing the motor, the run-out switch on the far right (outside switch) may need a little more
gap when opened..

Finally found my skill roll.

Being the new Toy, I'm sure Skill Roll is the answer at this time, but which
do you think you'll like better. Skill Roll or Ringer. I know both, but.

This backglass cost me $50.00
I applied the decal on the backside of
the original glass. Comes out just like silk screen..

Quoted from Blitzburgh99:

the decal is too thick to let the light through.

It surprises me a little bit that the white doesn't allow light through.
The numbers on the decal I use lights perfectly, unless the decal on
yours isn't vinyl..

Because I used the same original sheet of glass, this glass cost me $50.00
Others that used this decal stated that it comes out the best that they've
seen. This isn't a sales pitch. I don't make 1 cent off this. $50.00 is my cost.
Not everybody is rich. It would be much easier for me if I didn't post this,
but I can't see spending $300.00 on a glass in which 85% has no art work..
No photo, no scanning. This art work was digitized..

Quoted from Trizel:

My game plays great but every once in a while the first row scores and then every row after doesn't. Naturally the row counter has to progress. When I check it's on the second row as it should be.

It's been years since I went though the Skill Roll, but I'd maybe concentrate on the Row Counter.
The next time it happens, put an elegator clip to keep a set of contacts closed on the 2nd Row,
them maybe put more tension on the Row Counter's Step Up Wiper (I'm sure it's a Step-up-Unit),
and wiggle and check wires. Maybe wiggle a Jones Plug. Somewhere there has to be a connection
that's not making 100% contact..

Anyone with tips on fixing the buzz at the anti-cheat coil?

You can try a small piece of paper between the coil and plate, or better yet, a small piece of
the cheap kind of paper plate. They're not too thick, not too thin.
Also, you can try applying different tension on the larger leave switches which I believe is what worked
best for me..

Quoted from HisboyElroy:

I'll probably order a replacement glass from CPR too

Recently, a collector from Germany asked if I had any more Skill Roll backglass decals.
They come out just like silkscreen, and the process is $200.00 cheaper.
He's semiretired, but if he'll do them, I'll ask if he'll make a couple extra if anyone
has interest to take that route.

#1282 4 months ago
Quoted from HisboyElroy:

Thanks Mopar! I just PMd you.

Okay, I'm trying to get some others produced.
I'm just doing it for the hobby. My cost is your cost.
These decals were digitized.
A few others have used them, and they can verify
their exact to the original at 20% the cost..

#1288 4 months ago
Quoted from BlackCatBone:

You might consider scraping the art and using the decal on the original glass.

Years back, I brought my glass to my Graphic Designer, he digitized the artwork, and
since the glass wasn't scratched up, I had him flip the glass so the bottom was on the
top, apply the vinyl, then later I removed the original artwork, and it came out to a T..

Guy's good news. My Graphic Designer got back to me.
He said he was going to run the decals this week.
I think it used to be $50.00. I'm not sure if that changed.
I'll shoot a pm to the ones that pmed me for one.

#1295 4 months ago
Quoted from edward472:

Id definitely get Mopar's decal if he's still selling them and get a piece of glass cut. Much cheaper than CPR, and Mopar's colors are better in my opinion than CPR

I might add a couple bucks ($2) for gas to break close to even, and taking 30 minutes
to package and then a trip(s) to the Post Office, shows I'm only doing it for the hobby.
If I felt it wasn't inexpensive true quality, I wouldn't bother..
My Graphic Designer's running off 5 this week..

If anyone likes to pm about a decal, its best to email direct: [email protected]
I received a message saying I've responded to too many pms (15 under a 24 hr. period)
to respond to anymore (for a while anyways)..
It's the first I knew there was a limit..

I began sending out the decals that were last produced, and was asked if I had any
tips for applying. Here's how my Graphic Designer does it.
I used just a random piece of glass and paper to display.
With the blank glass in the machine, I magic markered a dot dead center of the
10 and 90 light sockets, then lined up the decal's 10 and 90 dead center to the 2 dots.
Masked taped the bottom to use as a hinge. Folded it back and carefully pulled of the
protected layer. Now the stickem layer is exposed. With a helping hand, fold back the
decal toward the glass, but not yet touching the glass. While keeping the corners elevated,
slowly start applying in the center with a squeeshy (or something similar to the blue
pad), working outward toward one side (to avoid air pockets) while still keeping the
opposite side elevated. Once that half's applied, do the same with the other side.
Some might be saying "No Kidding", but I just want to make sure because you basically
have only one shot at it so it's wrinkel free. There's other ways to do it, so whatever's
seems best to you. If there is an air pocket that can't be pushed out, then a pin hole
in the pocket can be made to allow the air to escape..
It seems the others I've send out to collectors, they had no problem applying, so I'm
sure all will go fine, but if there is any questions, just shoot me a pm..
btw: The glass is overhanging the table. The first pic is looking underneath the glass
making sure the 10 and 90 are in center with the dots before mask taping..
Edit: If anyone that already received a decal has suggestions for applying, please chime in..

Quoted from HisboyElroy:

Here's a video of how I applied Mopar's decal.

This is a very good way to do it, especially if doing it alone.
I think your backglass's original artwork was positioned properly,
but the light board was slightly off to the left. The decal had to be
slightly position to the left to precisely match the light board, thus
the reason the decal had to be slightly trimmed on the left side,
but it's nice all is now lined up perfectly..
On hot light bulbs. I've had machines on location with them turned on
for 12-14 hours a day that had vinyl backglasses, and never had a problem
with peeling, fading, ect..
The Skill Roll decal seems to be fine, but on some pinball glasses I had
done, some bulbs seemed to show hot spots. For those glasses, my Graphic
Designer made white vinyl cut outs for those areas, and I doubled up
on the white vinyl dimming the lighting. Like I say, the Skill Roll seems to be
fine, but if anyone would like it a little dimmer, doubling up on the white vinyl,
#51 bulbs, or even first trying in out before removing the back masking
is an option, but very most likely you'll be satisfied the way it is..

On the Skill Roll decals. The 1st run of 5 are sent out.
My Graphic Designer said he's willing to do another run.
If you could use one, let me know in a pm, and early
next week I'll give him the count.
They're $57.50 shipped..
