Quoted from northvibe:

I’ll snap a pic of my top header part tonight.
Last night and this am, I spent installing new bulb sockets. The cheap $50 amazon upholstery nailer worked pretty well. The 2” nose is almost necessary
[quoted image]
EDIT:
Is anyone interested in the stock bulb sockets?

Did you or can you tell us what sockets you used and what do you think of the final result?

#649 3 years ago

ive always heard the bad part of auctions are you don't really know what you are getting. Atleast you can see the main components are there. Wiring has had someone tinkering.

#657 3 years ago

Hey guys what metal and finish is the original 5c plate. Stainless steel?

#659 3 years ago
Quoted from cait001:

for the record, after auction buyer premium it sold for $2706 USD + any applicable taxes

For a non working all there skill roll that was possibly repainted and definitely worked on electrically.

The leg levelers look like pinball ones. I have tile floor and the arcade games are harder to see the feet so maybe use the leg levelers with the nylon on the bottom?

I got these legs but they definitely have to be cut just FYI for future people.

has anyone ever taken the playfield rails off to repaint them ?

#667 3 years ago

I am looking into repoing the coin plate and coin plate logo. The original logo was screen printed on the plate. The repro would have a vinyl decal.

Before I place an order I would like to see if anyone is even interested.

Including pictures of my plate removal and the decal I had made next to my plate.

I am thinking it may be around 20$ for a new plate with decal or 5$ for just a decal or 15$ for only a plate.

Pm me or let me know.

Whats the rule with these transformers. Mine is looking rough.

1. If it works leave it alone?
2. Try to replace it? Limit chance of failure and fire?

I am having replacement handles made that work with the original handle arms. I saw them today and they are awesome and have great weight!!! I'm not sure how pricing will work yet since it directly relates to quanity but wanted to get a poll for interest. PM me if you would be interested and how many you would want. Comments in forum may be missed. I am not taking money yet just getting numbers. They are made by cnc of steel.

My game plays great but every once in a while the first row scores and then every row after doesn't. Naturally the row counter has to progress. When I check it's on the second row as it should be. Always happens on the second row only. Anyone else experience this? I can drop another coin and it works again also. The sporadic bugs are the worst!

#853 2 years ago

Thanks jeffc I'll watch out for and observe and test those things. A little hard since you have to be at the front and back at the same time in some cases. All my contacts were cleaned and tested in the last few months. gliebig no I'm waiting for the scoring and row unit to complete before shooting next row.

#858 2 years ago
Quoted from BlackCatBone:

I had a similar problem, perhaps the same problem. In my case it was the 50-slot on the 5th row. I noticed that my Skill-Roll intermittently “overscored” on the 50 and then went dead on the 6th row. I was able to recreate the problem by playing the game from the rear door. I hit the coin relay to start a new game, then hit the 20-relay 4 times. That made Skill-Roll think I was on the 5th row. I then held down (without releasing) the 50-switch and watched the score motor make a second revolution and award 100 points before going dead on the 6th row. I theorized that the switch gap on my 5th row 50-switch was so tight that my nickel occasionally closed the switch while the coin was still dancing around the slot but hadn’t fallen through it yet. I increased the switch gap as much as I could to make sure the switch doesn’t close until the nickel is well through the slot. The 5th row 50 is a tough shot for me, so I don’t know if the increase in switch gap fixed the problem, but if the switch on the slot that is troubling you closes and does not open before the score cam completes its revolution, you’re going to have the problem I had. Another thing to check would be the switch itself – is it gummed up or sluggish and not opening properly?

Thanks this is great info and exactly what I was looking for and could have some influence on my game/situation. For me also I noticed my row counter unit was slightly loose and shaking some when actived which seemed to cause a bounce on the reset switch and get the game out of wack. I tightened it up and gave that switch a little extra travel space and it hasn't happened again yet. If it does I'll look into your situation.

Thanks to Mopar also!

I had some parts reproduced. I wanted to stick with something that had similar weight so I went with 304 steel. The picture are exactly how I pick up the parts.

I'll offer these for sale private message me if interested or have questions.
The handles work with the original arms. 40$ per
Coin taker 400$ per

Quoted from per3per3:

I'd be surprised if those are still available

It's 2 for 5k both non working missing parts adds up, assume still available.

#882 2 years ago
Quoted from sbmania:

2.5k per machine as is unrestored seems pretty steep. What do these things go for all done realistically? I would think 3k is pretty much it for a Skill Roll? Most younger collectors don't seem to have much affection for the older stuff these days. The latest releases seem to get all of the love. Older games in my experience have a dwindling base of interest among those under 50 or so.

Curious what constitutes a younger collector.
In all my searching I have never seen a fully restored skill roll for sale or sold always projects on some level. Time will tell.

#895 2 years ago
Quoted from sbmania:

All I mean by younger collector is this. I have been buying and selling pins and other arcade games for a long time. As time has gone by, I find that families with kids and collectors under say 40 are much less interested in em games in favor of the latest digital masterpieces. If I put a mint '70's Gottlieb next to a mint '90's - 2000's digital with speech, ramps, multi-ball, etc, I will sell 10x the number of digitals to em's.
I like them both, but late model pins are much easier to sell or trade off than ems. I believe that this is a function of what people saw growing up and then gravitate to as they get in a position to buy. EMs still sell, but the game has to be absolutely mint, and the selling price will be much lower than even the most basic entry level digital pin. No judgment on all of this. Just my presonal observations in my neck of the woods. Things might be different somewhere else.

Haha no worries I'm 36. I would have probably wanted a skill roll at any age but didn't even know they existed until last year.

#900 2 years ago

Ok guys I reached out to have custom playfield springs made to match the originals for the playfield handles. The compression and extension springs. However I need to order 40 or each spring type to get the price reasonable which is still high. I don't really want to do that unless I can sell them. 40 of each would be enough for 5 games. Is anyone interested in a full 8 set or single sets? I am thinking 80$ shipped CONUS for 8 sets whis is 1 compression and extension for each handle. This is cost I'm losing money on shipping even, Let me know. Price goes down if I can order more. Single sets will not be a division of 8.

#979 2 years ago

Hey all so some BSR collectors are finding this thread or are finding their own grail BSR games. I have been getting alot of messages for handles.

In regards to replacement handles these are the options from what I know today.

1. Gutz for handle and handle arms repro
2. Me for slightly different handle only repro
3. Shapeways, no experience with this option.
4. Playing the long game looking for spare originals

As for me with option 2 my cnc guy takes side jobs like these but mostly does industry orders. So my requests get back burner priority. Usually 2 or 3 months. I don't get charged a setup fee thankfully but I can't keep pinging him with 1 and 2 handles at a time.

Bottom line I'm not going to put in an order with him from here on out until i have cumulative requests for atleast 8 handles. I also don't see a need to keep any stock on hand.

Again here is a picture of the repros I can get.

Right repro

Mopar has the glass decal

Shawn has the plastic that goes between the playfield and glass

Quoted from Chris920:

I’m sure the ones without the spline in the center would probably work with green loctite and tighten the screw down. I’m probably just being picky.
[quoted image]

Eh the contact flick jerk actions will cause slip. New handles or jb weld would be the only solutions imo.

Taking the handles off and removing the playfield from the back is a nice feature though. You lose that if you perm up the handles.

Checking pinside seeing 30+ new comments in this thread had me shocked.

I SOLD a fully restored skillroll for 6100 last year.
People who flip these quick sell for 3 to 4k all there from what I've seen. Good condition working and patient will get you more.

Ebay and selling has really took a turn. All the tax shit is crazy. I sold an item on ebay recently for $1200 after taxes and fees my net was around $950.

This will lead to listing on eBay for visibility then private message trickery to private sale.

Anyway Goodluck

Ive been holding onto this nice original skill roll. It's time to think about selling. All original minus three gulmite screws. This includes keys and locks, coin box, coin drop catch pan and the illusive star end of game coin hold plunger. #B1201 with 901 8th row counts and 1572 high score counts.

Needs some love but all there and working. Asking 5k or best offer.

FYI I'm also selling an mci airball

Ok, looks like we've got to call out Shawn 76 about the bezels, I got 2 DMs about this bezel after I posted this that none of these bezels work, they are off, way off, no starting from the middle or massaging them will make them work, the holes are 1/2" off all around and are drilled from the wrong side. Do not buy.
Shawn76 should refund all$ as this is a defective product.
B

Dude you can't come in here and blast someone helping the skill roll community. Shawn is a good guy, I bought one from him and mine fit. Remember these games were made in the 50s and probably not all 100% the same.

of course you "can". I think generally you work with the person privately before blasting off.
Sounds like you didn't handle the problem in the most mature way. I'm not here to parent you though.
