On a '75 Bally Flicker, when a score reel shows zero should all three switches on the score reel be open? Showing 1 thru 8, should the top and middle switches be closed and the bottom open? I understand that the bottom switch should only close at 9, but what should be the setting on the top and middle at 9. Do each of these switches have a separate name?

Confused solid state guy.

Set all score reels to zero and compair. They can't all be mis ajusted. Don't own the game but when there all at 0 you will figure out the pattern!

Hi Alan_L
Bally and Williams Score-Reels are made about the same - (the main difference: Bally uses 48 VAC / Williams uses 24 VAC on the coils).
Look at Cabaret: http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=415 -> manual-page-15 (ori-13) -> the switch-stack in the upper-right corner.
Not knowing Your problem --- Attention: There is not much travel on the bottom switch (moving from pos-8 to pos-9 / closing).
The other two switches are the "Zero (-Position) -Switches". One of them (I believe in Your Bally it is the middle switch of the 3 switches) shall open (when Pos-Zero is reached) and HINDER "feeding (again) the stepping COIL" --- as THIS Reel IS in Pos-Zero.
The other "Zero-Pos-Switch" on the Reel is for "to tell the brain of the pin": "I am (this Score-Reel) - I am at position-Zero !!!" --- AND when ALL 16 Score-Reels are telling the "brain of the pin": "I am / we are ALL at Pos-Zero" -> the brain does stop the Resetting of the Score-Reels.

I like this document: http://rwatts.cdyn.com/download/intro%20to%20bally%20flipper%20games.pdf
-> page-25 (ori-23) -> named "Zero Break Switches".

Also (Williams) -> http://rwatts.cdyn.com/Machines/download_area.html -> Scroll down (below the middle, text "Be sure to check the Links page for additional ressources" -> the fifth link: http://rwatts.cdyn.com/download/wmseman.pdf , good information.

At zero, all three switches are open.

1-8, top two switches are closed, bottom switch is open

9, all three closed.
