Hi thanks for your help..game Worked fine until I took the machine partially apart to clean. Now, everything works except the score motor won't stop running and there is a coin door noise..I can reset the game, but the motor runs and cachunk from the coin door! Lol
No jams, everything looks correct...relay and switches look ok..game is a Bally hang glider. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The easiest and quickest thing to check is the score motor's home position switch. I've rarely found this to be the problem though.

Did you mess with anything in the backbox or the score reels? The most typical reason for the score motor to continue running is because a score reel isn't registering that it is at zero. Pull the reels and check the switches when each one is at zero. Adjust and clean as necessary. Compare reels between players if you aren't sure what is the correct orientation.

The noise from the coin door is probably the lock out coil cycling as the score motor runs. I'm just guessing here, but that is probably what you are hearing.

Lots of good info at http://www.pinrepair.com/em/index.htm and http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=EM_Repair

What else is happening?

http://mirror2.ipdb.org/files/1112/HangGliderSchem.pdf you can get a schematic from here if you don’t have one. I would cut out the bit you need, but some dick has added security to the PDF.

Find the Scr Motor on the schematic (23 E)and check the ten REs that can start the SCR motor, one is stuck or the condition has not been meet to de energise this RE.

Check that the bonus unit is getting reset all the way. Also double check the 0 positions on the score reels.

Checked most all above..game works great and scores correctly but still motor runs

Checked all relays, wires, score reels, can manually reset and everything resets properly.. What else??

Check the coin switches. I have seen three or four em's with the same issue. It was always a stuck coin switch.

Below is the part of the schematic with the Scr Motor, the red circles are the only REs that will make the Scr Motor run.
One of the REs or switches is staying on. NOTE there is one Sw on the SCR Motor that can also make the scr motor run. it is the most left on the schematic. It is on the cam closest to the motor 5 th SW up from the cam. This SW is there to keep the SCR Motor running till it gets back to zero position.

Remember it may be a mis adjusted SW on the relay, even though the RE is off the SW may still be making contact
Do you know how to work out which SWs by wire colours?

Excellent, thx Chris..ill start here..

To confirm, when credit button is pushed..all the score reels reset to zero position and game starts. I would assume we can eliminate the scores reels being mis-aligned.

Visually check each relay circled above for being energized (Thanks Chrisbee). If one is energized (likely), then work backwards backwards on the schematic and check which switches would energize that particular relay. If no relays are energized (unlikely), then check the contacts on those relays for being shorted or adjusted too close.

It is normal for the coin lockout solenoid to pulse when the score motor is running.

Ok..so... I fixed one problem and created another..now the credit button does nothing and when I reset the game it starts and scores 2nd player..

The reason the credit button is not working is because the coin unit has not zeroed, I think.
The game plays player two!! For the game to play player 2, the coin unit needs to be at two players and the player up unit would need to be at player two.
Start by manually resetting both stepper units, report back what happens. You may fine by just cleaning the coin unit things will start working, look for sticky old grease.
