I've been working on resurrecting a Playboy from the grave for a friend. In order to get it booting I had to replace the u8 socket and the 5101 as well as remove some corrosion in that area and the ground. I've pinged out all traces to and from the 5101 and the 5101 came from a known good mpu that boots fine in my EBD. So, I've got the game booting, all coils working, all switches working and lamps mostly working(lots of dead bulbs) but, I'm having a weird problem. When I boot the game it plays the startup jingle and goes into attract mode. The coils (including flippers) and switches are live and score points without pushing the start button. As the display strobes between the current score and the highscore it removes any points to zero.
I can put credits on the game and when I push the start button it plays the start jingle and takes a credit off but, doesn't always kick a ball into the shooter lane. I have had it start a game normally and kick a ball into the shooter lane and score points normally but, that happens less frequently, maybe twice. I was wondering if this might be caused by a intermittent outhole switch or maybe the mechanical relay on the driver board is shot? Any ideas?
Thanks!
