Since this forum is hosted in the Netherlands, is it allowed to show the modified version of my playboy playfield here? Or are the rules here American-style? If so, I think I will not be allowed to show it...
Quoted from cartert:Heck yeah, Show it
Ok, I looked up the rules.
I think this playfield is PG-13. In Germany, it surely would be FSK 12.
Do not know if it is NSFW, I don't know if there is a German thing similar to it, so to be on the safe side, I flag it not safe for work.
Quoted from Flash71:Where did you acquire this Playfield? Very cool! Post a full length shot
It's "printed in Germany"

I've seen your backglass in some other tread. Funny how every number displayed has a meaning either in your life or in the life of playboy
Quoted from cysnake:Also need info or help to find a replacement ball gate for the grotto, even pics or size, ect would help.
Thanks!!!!
Did you change the lock? The lock that is originally in there is a little longer than the one in the coin door. If you have a coin door lock there, you will loose a few Millimeters. You can get around it with a longer screw and some washers at the left end. But, those longer locks are available.
I looked it up. The normal coin door lock is 7/8, but you need a 1 1/8 here. Sorry, for me European-minded those imperial measurements are quite difficult.
Quoted from GPS:Understand why the caps are present
Those capacitors are in parallel to the switch. So, when the switch is closed, they are shortened and unloaded. When the switch opens again, they load themself again. This current makes the MPU think the switch is still closed. So, the MPU has a little more time to recognize.
Since those capacitors are in parallel to the switches and go to "connect" when fail, they are a very common source of trouble.
I always replace them all.
IMG_20211104_193529 (resized).jpgSince technology has changed since then, those 0.047uF look quite different now. They are way smaller. For a more historic look, I use capacitors with a higher voltage, which does no harm, but they are bigger and do look more like the 1970 ones...
IMG_20211009_143443 (resized).jpgIMG_20211114_195513 (resized).jpgQuoted from GPS:. I understand that your suggesting to put them on ALL the switches.
Yes and no I do not suggest to add capacitors to the switches of drop-down-targets. They are closed long enough I just replace them in places where there have been capacitors before. But when I am in doubt, I solder one in. So maybe, at the end I have capacitors at nearly every contact, even where there was no before. So: No, it is not my general recommendation to add capacitors where no ones have been before.
Quoted from GPS:see that you are also replacing the switches associated with the pop bumpers.
I replaced them since they were totally worn off. There were even holes in the middle of the plastic spoons.
I have two playfields, and on one of them I changed some parts to pink, e.g. bumper skirts and targets. So I thought it might be funny to change even those spoons under the playfield to pink
IMG-20210816-WA0009 (resized).jpegQuoted from Clnilsen:Getting very close!
Also, take a look at the colour of the Pop Bumper switch spoons I posted above.
IMG_20210822_192354 (resized).jpgQuoted from GPS:The original color was really close to the magenta and certainLy not a barbi pink.
When renovating my Playboy, I used a real clear white and a real dark magenta. Not beause I am sure it is historically corrext, but just because I like it
Quoted from kruzman:does it play as good as it looks?
I would tend to say yes. I like the game play very much. I am still practicing the shot through that right passage into the grotto at the left, which is very challenging for me. I think I am better in repair and refurbish than a player.
Trying to find a photo that I did not yet post. In this photo, you see I took a little freedom in the colours on the playfield and replaced certain parts with magenta. Also, you see why the siderails are so shiny - they are new. Here you see them with the protective foil still on. I always have to replace them since I am not able to remove the nailed original ones without damage.

Quoted from GPS:nylon spacers so that the grounds on the board would not contact the backbox ground.
By the way, I did that as well. I guess it is needed to do so since you will have that humming if you don't.
Quoted from Quench:Got any more internal pictures showing what you did to the cabinet?
There are two changes I needed to make to get place for the spare playfield. One you can see in this picture: The bar that holds the playfield in the halfway upright position could not be reinstalled. But I know that many restorers leave that part away, anyhow, since it deforms the playfield when you leave it on that bar to long. So it was not a big issue to me to go without that part.

In this picture, you see the wooden rests for the second playfield. I made them the same size like the original rests for the first playfield, so they do not look unfamiliar, but like something that could havbe been there since ever.
You also can see the second part I had to leave out - it's the rollin ball tilt. Respectively, you don't see
I just needed that space. But the machine plays quite good even without that part.

Here you can see the dust cover. It's just a small frame with a black fabric. It prevents the stored playfield from the dust that is falling down from the playfield in use.
IMG_20220319_235104 (resized).jpgQuoted from gdonovan:I need to make cabinet that holds 5 or 6 playfields.
I think it would be fun to have a cabinet with two real different games to change (using a aftermarket MPU where you can change the game via Dip-switch)
Maybe, my next project.
But, there is no space to store a second backglass.
Quoted from Quench:I presume you are/going to build some kind of rack to store them?

Quoted from FLNetMAn62:Drop target 1 (bottom 1 closest to flippers) doesn't drop if hit from side/edge either - only straight on works
This is by design. You have to hit the target from the front to drop it.
