I found a new project today. It lights up, but doesn't work reportedly. I haven't brought it home yet, but have already found some peculiarities doing a little research. As far as I can tell, this is a Victory Derby variation with Bally Entry cabinet art. I'm curious if anyone has seen something like this before, as I've come up with nothing searching around so far?

That's a replacement backglass of some kind, I think. It's laid out exactly as Victory Derby / Victory Special, but with a few tweaks (the winner sections in the upper left).

The playfield is likely modified as well - the bumpers are not factory for Victory Derby/Victory Special.

The only Photo Finish (well, documented) was made by Universal. So this further supports the idea that the backglass was scraped and game modified.

I'm not sure what the cabinet is, but Bally Entry uses a different style of cabinet - the center portion is deeper on Bally Entry. This is the same depth as Victory Derby/Victory special, but it's missing the hole for the shuffle reset. On those cabs, there is a giant push bar on the front that manually actuates the shuffle rather than use a motor like on other games. --Edit-- looks like the hole has been filled in. Look for the big circle to the left of the shooter rod.

Bally Entry's light board is also wildly different than Victory Derby/Special, so the lights would be flashing all over the background if they just swapped the glass.

These are all just guesses, but those are my thoughts.

Ah, I thought it was the same cabinet art (ignoring the horse head on the front), but looking again, it's just similar. I was comparing to this photo: https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=149&picno=22839. I missed the bumpers too!

I suppose I'll be able to get a better idea on what's going on once I can compare some of the lighting and inner workings to the schematic. I'll share a few more pictures as well, since I haven't seen a bunch online so far.

I've had a chance to look over things a bit. The button on the lock bar activates a motor to activate the shuffle reset, which is why the hole is filled in. I took a few photos of the rules that were still on the playfield. There's an O-A-T-S feature that lines up with the playfield bumpers and there's some mention to the changes to the back glass too. It looks like the cabinet was maybe purple at some point as well.

The playfield and door mechanisms look pretty good, but the back box is in sad shape. A mouse was living in there at some point and chewed through many wires as well as urinating on everything . I'll post some more pictures of the sadness when I get a chance.

Figured out how to get behind the backglass. Pretty obvious in retrospect. A few more of the differences from Victory Derby can be seen from here and would also show up when lit.
