Could use a hand with getting mine back up and running.

I'm re-installing the head box, and in a hurry I took the harness out to get the head off for transport.

I have one wire left to connect, it's a 2-pin .156 header with an orange and a black wire on it. Anyway, I have no idea where this thing connects. I have no sound currently and I believe this to be the speaker connection.

Speaker to soundboard wire.

That would be the speaker connection and goes to the Squawk and Talk board. My game is in pieces or I would get a picture. It would plug in the same place as on an Elektra. There may be pictures in this thread or the Elektra thread showing the sound card and where it goes.

Awesome, thanks guys. Just need to figure out why solenoids 1,2,3 all died on me since I brought it home, but that should be easy to sort out. Fun game so far, time to start a list of needed parts.

Edit: Found it, another connector I hadn't re-connected. Time to play some pinball. Rare for me to get a game this vintage that actually works this completely.

I still love mine. It’s hard to get one working and keep it reliable. Techinically, it has a lot of similarities to Fathom. I think I’ve had mine for close to 10 years. No one appreciates the game. My newbie tip is never-never-ever tilt ball 3. Seeing how many mazes you can clear is so much fun.

Anybody have a spare wire rollunder gate that is used on the left and right sides. I was trying to open up the loop a little to put the drop down wire back after after shopping it out and the one side snapped off. Wanted to see if I can find a used one before attempting to make this myself from piano wire. Probably one of the more complicated ones I've ever seen. Thinner wire gauge that what I stock for piano wire too.

Looks to be part number ASE-2255-111. Google and Marco and Planetary gave up zero results.

Thanks
kris

If you can’t source a gate you can make one out of the carbon steel pole of a landscape flag. The gate has a complicated bend, but that’s the fun of the project.

Since the part that the wire drop down sits on was still present I was able to take a short leg from a diode wrap it around the upright section of the rod, make a loop out of it to prevent the wire from falling off sideways and soldered the diode leg to the wireform. Heated up the wireform significantly first and that allowed me to pre-tin it. Should be a serviceable repair. I'll see how it goes.

I'll have to remember that for those colored flags, free piano wire. None of the hardware stores near me carry anything that thin anymore.

Argh, this game is already becoming a nemesis to me. I think there are some bad wires in the harness by the way it's acting, with some broken conductors around the area where the head and cabinet meet. I won't have time to work on it for a bit, but I've got 2-3 lights in the pac maze that I need to have the harness sitting JUUUUUST right for them to work, and same with the switch on the right flipper that controls the maze during play.

I hate that Bally used IDC connectors on EVERY SINGLE plug in this game. When I restored mine, I found a few problematic connections for a couple maze lamps and I just re-pinned the connectors that had issues. 0.1 inch connectors... VERY tedious work.

Dumb question, but does anyone have pics for the locking mechanism for the lower part of the backbox? Mine's missing completely.
