Finally got to switch on on my first EM. The score reels were an absolute mess. On start up 5 out of 6 go to zero. One rotated constantly.
Can anyone advise on what the switch settings should be please? I’ve attached a photo of the two equivalent reels - set at zero.
Any advice appreciated.

All 3 switches on each score reel should be open at zero. If one switch (or solder tab) is touching, it will run endlessly because it never knows that it got to zero.

Put some small pieces of paper between each switch on the score reel that keeps running and see if it stops. Also make sure none of the solder tabs are touching on that suspect score reel.

Many thanks for this. Did the card trick and the score reel no longer rotates constantly. Now the score motor unit runs constantly.
I suspect that a number of issues could cause that. Any more likely than others. I have a circuit now and will try to work at it over the next week. One difficulty I have is that this is my first EM and slot of the labels for the relays etc. Have been removed.
I really should have give; up with this when I saw the state of the head unit. Every component was rusted solid. The worst was the credit reel.

Any tips appreciated.

Persistence will pay off but this should be fun. Stop working for a while if you get frustrated.

If the score motor runs constantly, one of these 8 switches (or the relay it's on) is stuck closed. First step is find out which one.
